Random thoughts/responses from the last few pages-

If Kyle doesn't win a Cup championship he's still a first ballot Hall of Famer, if anything for being the best "bad guy" since DW, and is better at the role than Rusty was (Quite an accomplishment). In 20 years people will be talking about Busch vs Earnhardt like we talk about Gordon vs Earnhardt Sr.- not so much an actual battle on the racetrack (for the most part, and anything that happens between them is glorified), but actually rather fanbase vs fanbase. Good old boy vs the Vegas/California punk.

I'd feel more sympathy for Danica if she wasn't like 28th in points right now in a SHR ride.
Kurt had an excuse, being in a completely new team that was put together relatively last second. And even then he has been improving a lot the last couple of months.
Tony has a pass as well, for obvious reasons.
The only two SHR cars that don't have any excuses this year are the 4 and the 10..... who might as well be in two completely different series. And even then, the 4 has had a worse pit crew this year.

Menard has proven to be a middle of the road driver unlike Danica. He's not horrible at a lot of things but he isn't better than okay at a lot of things either.

If RPM were smart I'd try and sign Cassill. Dude has built Circle Sport from a single car team missing every other race and only existing to be used by Childress to give his grandsons Cup seat time to two full time cars that usually finish in the top 30 every week. Not only that but he had a great run at Daytona and could of won Dega if he had waited another lap to try a move.

Truex isn't as good a driver as Kurt was, which isn't really a criticism of Truex.... Kurt is a former series champion. Remember, this is the same team that did nothing for 6-7 years before 2013 outside of an insane Darlington victory. They aren't even in the RTA because the owner is an idiot with a lot of money who won't move his team to Charlotte like everybody else.

Hornish was rushed to Cup and didn't respond well to it. For every Tony Stewart or Carl Edwards there are 50 Casey Atwoods or Dario Franchettis. A lot of owners have thankfully realized this and don't want to take the risk. That said, as a driver gets more seat time, you can get much better- Logano might be the best example of this. If Hornish had stayed in Nationwide until like 2009-2010 he might be in the 22 now.

Kyle will get in based on career merits.
His Cup career is still impressive even if his best championship finish is only 5th - hell, he might overtake Earnhardt in career wins if his pace never deteriorates. Not taking anything away from his Cup success even though he still knows how to act immature if necessary. @The Bman, when I was saying he hasn't won in a while, I meant that with his last win being at Fontana this year, he's gone winless for an unusually long time.

Yea consistently 27th... Same for Stenhouse and Danica
20 top 20's in 27 races (tied for 8th)... granted, he's rarely near the lead, but he's been better than you remember.

It's not hard to run 17th
what are you doing on this thread instead of getting ready for Sunday's raceS, aiming at 16th place or better, then? :sly:

Also keep in mind that this is only Danica's 2nd full-time season in Cup, transitioning from IndyCar (open-wheeled racing) to stock cars. Sam Hornish Jr. did awful in his Cup stints but I don't hear you having a bone to pick with him.
Sam's second full Cup season (2009) resulted in an overall 28th place, exactly where Danica is at this season... ;)

And it has to do with NASCAR because...?
cos GoDaddy sponsors a NASCAR that has plenty (read: too much) coverage?

what is, MW out of the closet?

Only reason I watched most of the race was because the only match up in my area was Vikings vs Pats.
I did not watch a single lap. Fantasy Football had me engulfed. Was hoping Cordarrelle would've caught a few more. Got the W anyway 👍

Plenty of good games. Nationwide takes a back seat because of CFB too. Went to the Alabama vs. Southern Miss game as a neutral Auburn fan behind enemy lines. Lots of fun.

Like you were saying, gotta get the season over early. And like @RACECAR said, IndyCar did it right

The Motorsports Group [Nationwide teams #40 & #46 owned by Curtis Key. Josh Wise has started 16 races in the #40 and 1 in the #46] announced that it will participate in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starting with Daytona in 2015.
The #30 Chevy SS is seeking a driver, crew and sponsorship opportunities.(TMG) The team is not afflilated with Brandon Davis or Swan Racing and is not planning to run any races this year. They plan a full season of racing and not a "start and park" effort. They will build their own engines. Plans for Nationwide teams next season have not been determined.(9-16-2014)

The #46 is basically a S&P team, are they going to go with one team in Cup, one in Xfinity now?

They will build their own engines
ouch! not a S&P? yeah right...

They didn't say that they would be fast, only that they would build their own engines. Most teams rent engines, which I'm sure is not cheap. Maybe by building their own engines, they can get more endurance with a little less performance, and save some money in the long run. If their goal is to finish races, that's not a terrible way to start.

At the very least, it would let them see how a privateer engine program stacks up against an engine program from a powerhouse such as Hendrick (we all know how it'll go, but still). My guess is that they'll build their own engines because they feel like building their own engines will be cheaper than paying to rent engines.

Well, looks like RPM made another announcement. Stanley and Dewalt are leaving the team and moving over to JGR to sponsor Edwards (Stanley) and Kenseth (DeWalt, yes!). RPM still stays committed to Roush and a 2 car team.

On the subject on who should go to the #9 next year, my vote(s) would go to David Gilliland, Landon Cassill, or Micheal Annett.

Gilliland has been outperforming Ragan (usually, not always) on a week-to-week basis and deserves to be in better equipment. I don't believe that will happen seeing as how he has zero sponsorship he can bring to RPM anyways. Plus he's already a Ford driver. I'm not saying Ragan would be a bad choice either (he can bring KFC sponsorship with him), just haven't been seeing consistent results from him yet.

Cassill, like @Ganon83 said, is quite capable and can do well in new equipment. He deserves to have a chance at a machine that can win outside of just plate tracks. He *can* possibly bring sponsorship with him to RPM too.

Annett I feel like was rushed into crap equipment. He did race with RPM in the Busch series after all. Don't know if that means anything, but maybe he can return with RPM. Unlikely too; no sponsorship to bring.

Please, Richard Petty, get the 44, 45 or 41, leave the 9 for Hendrick to purchase for Chase in the future.
sorry, doesn't seem like it's going to happen:

Petty committed to two cars in 2015: At the start of 2014, Richard Petty Motorsports announced a three-year extension and investment increase by Smithfield Foods on the #43 Ford team. The previous year RPM welcomed new partners Strike 10 Entertainment and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to join Smithfield Foods, U.S. Air Force and longtime partner STP. The result was the RPM #43 team winning for the first time since 1999 and sending Aric Almirola into The Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. Today, the organization with a championship history, winning present and proven marketing programs, announced it will use the same aggressive business and growth model to support the #9 Ford team in 2015 and beyond in a series of announcements. RPM will continue to be a two-car NASCAR Sprint Cup organization and will compete weekly with the #9 and #43 teams. The organization will also return current manufacturer partner Ford Racing and subsequently will continue its services contract with Roush Fenway Racing and Roush Yates Engines to supply new Ford Fusion chassis and Ford horsepower for both teams. Twisted Tea Brewing Company will continue their primary sponsorship of the #9 team in 2015 as the RPM marketing and new business team continues various discussions with several companies.(Richard Petty Motorsports)(9-17-2014)

Check this out. A few notes:

-Michael Annett has sponsorship, from Pilot Flying J.

-I agree with Gilliland outperforming Ragan this year, but he's 38 while Ragan's 28. That's why I see the latter and Annett as the favorites.

-Yum! Brands, who owns Taco Bell (13 races) and KFC (1 race, Talladega), sponsors Ragan this season, not just KFC. I don't know if they would follow him to RPM, could be a conflict with Smithfield/#43 sponsors?
Other sponsors of #34 include CSX (5), Dockside Logistics (5) and FarmRich (3).

-just added Corey LaJoie to the list -he's set to make his first Cup start this week end with a Randy Humphrey Racing Ford- after learning he's an RPM development driver.

sorry, doesn't seem like it's going to happen:

It's still possible, there is a lot of time before the start of '15.

Yum Brands doesn't sponsor the team, Bob Jenkins, who owns Front Row also owns a major franchise of Yum! restaurants in the Eastern U.S. It's pretty much the same thing as BK racing, while they don't actually sponsor the team, both the

If Brad doesn't win the championship, then it's because something went seriously wrong at Penske.

He's got pole for Sunday's race with a new track record. McMurray starts next to him.

Actually, he could win the next 8 races, and then finish 2nd at Homestead and lose the championship quite easily. All it would take is for one of three other guys to have one single better day out of ten.

Or maybe he has off weeks at Kansas and Lowes and gets caught up in a Big One at Dega, eliminating him early
