No its not.

It makes me want to punch kittens.

Part of the fun with having a Mustang or any loud old car is making your presence known. Tuirning heads. Making everyone stare at you. I enjoy that kind of attention.

And it doesn't matter if you think I'm a tool. As long as I feel cool, that's all that matters to me.
No offense to you or anything but this is the Mustang reputation of almost all Mustang owners I've met or seen. At cars and coffee they come in revving it up, peeling out. And on the street when I'm just casually driving they always try to catch up to me, rev or try to race me like they have something to prove, like little man syndrome puffing up their chest. They are loud but a lot of times their bark is worse than their bite. I'm not trying to offend you or stereotype Mustang owners, this has just been my experience.

That's the reputation of most 16-22 year olds who think they have a hot car...they usually grow up, eventually.

That take-rate is pretty surprising. Makes me wonder what country is, ahem, ponying up the most for it.
I've enquired at my local Ford dealer about a manual V8 convertible and they told me i'm going to need about $80k AUD. Apparently the ecoboost hardtop is about $45k AUD. About a $15k USD (after currency conversion) premium on buying one in the US.

And with that I said "I'll stick with my 86" and walked out

I'm guessing it's really hard to buy a Mustang from the U.S. And import it?

Personal importing is not a (feasible) option for American cars as we drive on the left side of the road and the car needs to be converted to be legal. This is an expensive, time consuming process that makes converted US only models scarily valuable down here.

Funnily, a conversion still wouldn't help me get a new Mustang. If any car is sold here by it's manufacturer, privately imported cars of the same model (even if converted) can never be registered.
It's a system to stop us dodging the crazy taxes that we get charged on luxury cars. Having no option but going through local dealers leads to...
cars there can be extremely expensive compared to their domestic market.

Some say that the closing of our local manufacturers will force the government to revise this policy... I'm not holding my breath :(

Its also not a 50th Anniversary car so it shouldn't have that fake gas tank cap on it.

It's also got a fancy name too...

Bluffing; however occasionally I'll start a "who can piss the furthest" comp with cars saying my Taurus can beat your car.

Yep a local Honda meet that I helped set for the local car forum I moderate had the same exact problem with the honda peeps since most of them are 16 to 22. The meet eventually lost its location and I washed my hands of it. Its more a youth thing than a specific car. For example You don't see that at a BMW meet because the owners are older.

The Houston Cars and Coffee almost got shut down in January because everyone came in downshifting near a suburb, doubt burnouts, revving, etc.
And then some dumbass in a Genesis crashed into a tree. I went in February for the first time in forever and everyone thought it may be the last.
Wouldn't be a big loss though, most were assholes.
