If you wanna be anywhere to compete in this one you will wanna be in the 1:21's by the end of the round I can't see 1:20's though but anything's possible!!! First 2 rounds in the UK as well!

Couple of observations so far:

1. Track lighting is different. Go to arcade mode and set the time to 7.30. In arcade the sun appears "whiter" while in the GTA event it appears more "yellow/orange". Probably PD testing GT7 lighting?

2. Car setup seems a bit different from last year. A lot more lift off oversteer this time around. Good change from the 1st round! Also this means hopefully no handbrake for the top times as the normal brakes are oversteery enough!

3. Different track grip levels are back again :grumpy: I struggled to get below 1.25 after around 10 laps on my first entry. Quit the event and re-enter and instantly 1.24.7 on the first lap, then 1.24.3 on second lap. PD better fix this crap for the final round or it will be a complete farce.

4. Cone placement is killer, especially for the three 90 degree right handers after the back straight. I'm normally very inconsistent for those corners too so it will be a lot of retries for me

5. Lots of late apex corners. Slow in fast out is the mantra here. Short shifting early also helps. The big hairpin before the back straight is CRUCIAL!!! (sadly another corner I'm really bad at )

ODB
BTW does anyone have any actual explanation what was going on at Silverstone? Lots of talking about something being wrong but was the event "broken" or was there just two different track setups or sonething like that?

The track grip level varies randomly per session. So you can have very little grip, but if you quit the event and come back in you'll have heaps more grip and be able to set a faster laptime a lot easier.

Looking at the first round, the final top time is around 1 second faster than the top time of the first day, so yes 1.21 flat is probably the limit. IMMORTAL could probably get high 1.20s if he pushes hard.

As always, good luck to everyone! :gtpflag:

I'm quite amazed that we are getting some big combos early on, definitely going to be interesting in what we are in for the next round, and even more interesting for the final round :D?
We know three things at this point.

Three cars with additional GT Academy branding were added in the last update: NISMO GT-R, RJN GT3 GT-R and the Greaves LMP2.
These cars have, so far, been used in sequential order of track pace.
There will be a required update on June 2nd prior to the 4th round opening.

One might end on the conclusion that the fourth car is faster than an LMP2 and we've yet to see it, because it will come by game update.

It is also worth noting that the final round finishes just after Le Mans (as usual) and when Darren Cox mentioned that the Nissan GT-R LMP1 would come to "all the games you play" a lot of people speculated that it would do so for the Le Mans weekend - possibly to feature on the live event booths at Le Mans.

Now that would be interesting :)!

Round 1 was over 2 minutes, this round has a much less overall laptime, hence improving by a second is not likely at all.

I think it's 95% likely that the final round will use the NISMO GT-R LMP1.

The only other progression I could think of is like this:
Round 3 - GT-R GT500 2015 (since Lucas is driving one atm)
Round 4 - Greaves LMP2

Highly unlikely, but still interesting possibility :D

Logically that would be true. But never underestimate the aliens ;)

I think you still need to re-enter to change the grip level, but not really sure. I found myself a lot faster after re-entering, but maybe because I got used to it more. Anyway, I've been going for like 3 hours since I got home haha... really great combo. Love the track and how the car drives.

This track is shorter, so that means the difference will be less too. I'm gonna guess mid to low 1:21s, maybe 1:21.3?

Anyway, I managed a 1:21.236 which was 36th when I last checked. I'll probably drop to the 100s or maybe 200s the next time I sign in. I'm pretty happy with my time. I was once gonna manage a 1:22.9xx but I messed up in the last section. I feel like I reached my limit already, but it's only day 1, so I hope that's not the case!

edit: oops, was typing before the posts above me happened

There isn't one in the game with GT Academy 2015 badges.

It's just wishful thinking but... maybe we could get the LMP2 for round 3 and then an update for the last round that we'll drive the LMP1 GT-R in. The track will be made in COURSE MAKER, which is included in the update. If only .

Greaves LMP2 car with update?

Greaves LMP2 car with update?
It was in the last update, with GT Academy branding and the 2013 #42 race number.

There's another update on June 2nd, which is required to start the final round.

have not got that :grumpy:
No-one has yet.

The NISMO GT-R with GT Academy branding we used in Round 1 was included in that update. The Nissan RJN GT-R GT3 with GT Academy branding we are using in Round 2 was included in that update. Neither is available in the game yet either - only the regular un-branded cars.

oh, sorry my friend misunderstood. Thought was available. Well i look forward to getting it. About time we had LMP2s in the game, couple years old, but never mind still great addition.

Well reading through this thread has been very interesting. I've just been playing about 2 hours of this challenge so far, recording for Episode 2 of my 'Rookie's Guide to GT Academy' series, and at several points I actually checked the tires to make sure they were racing hards - I had NO grip at all. Literally none. It felt like I was on Soft or even Comfort tires.

The car really doesn't feel like a GT3 car at all. I remarked in the recording that surely GTRs are agile, and have good feel. This was just numb - turn in, nothing, understeer for days, then sudden violent oversteer when you touch the gas. Which at a track like Brands Hatch is just an evil combo to have. :grumpy:

Hence, the censor bleep will be being worked overtime in my video...ended with a 1:26.129, which I'm still pleased about, but that came with a LOT of retries. And now finding out the grip was likely compromised has annoyed me further...never mind, more speed to come next time I have a tilt at it. :mischievous:

1:21.759:cheers:

Let Sweden in already:(

Please no more times from you today sir! I'm sat at work looking at the time I did this morning and you are slowly but surely killing my motivation lol. I'm on an 23.7, god damn I've got some homework to do, I hate brands on this game!

Hi Everyone, I have a little question, in order to access the Race Camp, you need to make bronze at least in the first three rounds, and in the final round you need to be one of the fastest of your country right ? Your time in the first three rounds doesn't matter much in fact ?
Thank you.
