Im in USA. So north America. What are circumstances for that?
Have to be from eligible countries first. Then final round has individual country leader boards. Not sure if it will be the same this year though. Last yet was different. I am 78th atm and from Canada. Worked all year to get up there and now Canada can't compete.

Not sure what the Canadia is smoking :), but the top 20 online players will go to finals according to the rules for North America.
Lol some good bc buddlies. wasn't sure how they where working it this year with Australia and other countries involved. Just meant that he has to be way better than 100 in US.

As mentioned, top 20 in the USA qualify. (How many are eligible is another story)
For the 2nd round, at my last count there were 22 Americans in the top 250. And many more will show up for the final event that matters. The real question, is how many of the Americans will actually accept, or be eligible to accept, the invite.

Very true. You can count out let Canada in. He is an undercover Canadian.

@Alex Pepe

I'm currently 33rd in world and 3rd in USA I have made it in both 2013/1014 national finals. If you want to have a shot this year you need to be able to be In the top 20 in USA in round 4 :)

If your currently 540th in the world at the moment, id have to be honest and say it less likely that you will make the cut this year but then again don't stop pushing keep going there's always next yea. I'd say for round 2 and 3 if you can get into the top 250 world you could probley make the cut but don't get me wrong it's really hard so many people are going for the same thing you are so it makes it that much harder

Im probably top 100 for USA

Keep pushing. For reference, If this was the final event, I would say the cut off for USA would be 1:22.4. Im currently 8th not counting ineligibles in the US, and just from my friends list I can tell you that there will be atleast 5-10 people that will be going faster than me in the finals event.

What is your guys' take on this. In round 1, my best lap put me around 4,500th. THat was about 2 days before the end of rankings so I probably finished at 6500-8500.

However, this round, I am ranked 530. That is such a massive drop to the previous round. I really want to win this. I know realistically I probably will not, but Im optimistic. I have to be. What do you guys think? If I do the same thing in the next round and I can an even lower that will be great.

Yes I use a wheel.
Generally, less people participate every round so it's not an ideal indicator. In the past, I've used "fastest world time + 1 second" as a benchmark and at least for the US, it may still hold. I would also say you must be faster than me but I'm not as fast as I used to be.

Are you going this year? I have no doubt you'll qualify...but will you accept?

Keep pushing. I started playing last Gt academy and ended up 40th in Canada. I found out one of my friends at a local go kart was "thanks eh" he was number one Canadian and made it to last three in Silverstone in 2014. We have super tight battles in real life so that made me think if I can do it in real life why not the game. Lol boy was I in for a shock. Took me buying a new wheel. Building a rig and doing min 200 + km every day. I am just barely up to his pace now. Always a couple tenths behind. Even though Canada is not eligible anymore I am still trying my best to get up the charts. My best so far is a 1:22.471.

Nope. Once was enough to realize I'm not what the Academy is looking for. I'm just here to aid those who have the real life experience but can't get over the virtual hump.

It's fantastic that you spend so much energy on helping us out. I like chasing your times.

What are they looking for?
I just got that impression that my personality wouldn't fit their ideal profile. I'm rather opinionated and in many cases, isn't shy about being vocal about them. I do try to be tactful but even so, it may rub people the wrong way because I bring up things people are uncomfortable to mention. I just don't think I could hold that back.

That and insufficient real life experience. If I really wanted to pursue this again, I would want to be experienced enough that racing is natural to me. Compared to the competition, I'm so far behind in that regard, it would take me many years just to be close to that level.

Well, I have only played Gran Turismo since the very first one so my GT experience can't go to waste. Well, okay, GT, TOCA, Need for Speed, Ridge Racer, Super Monaco GP, Excitebike... I'm sure I'm missing a few games in there.

Speaking of Ridge Racer:

Holy crap.Don't know where it came from but managed a 1:22.239. Good for 48th. Got you outlaw by a blond one. Lol
Damn you! I'm too lazy to get behind the wheel again!

The funny thing is that on a whim, I changed my feedback from 3 to 7. In the past, more feedback always made me slower and initially, I was. Then I remembered an earlier conversation about how much you have to turn the wheel with this GT-R. Once I beat that into my head, I not only had more consistent laps but after a few minutes, beat my personal best. The downside is that trailbraking was much harder to induce and my wheel kept shifting all over my desk. Otherwise, a 21.9x is definitely there for the taking.

Still, it's a shock to me that I was that fast at that high a setting. I need to try this in the later rounds.

In have mine set to five I think. Defiantly helps with sturdy rig. Just tried again and can't even come close to my time without going red. Must be time for bed.

if you're from Spain you've got a lot of VERY fast competition!

And just two of us will be eligible to go to Yas Marina race camp... 1/4 of top 100 drivers come from Spain, wich let me almost with no options to make it into the finals.

That, and the uncertain grip issue, will let me out of this game for some time, after the GT Academy's ending.

Nope, i seriously doubt 20s even from immortal

Have faith in your team mates :sly:

I have seen a few time trials where he is the only one breaking a specific second.
It is difficult, but there's time left, however I don't know where he will shave off the last tenths

Just saying hi as I'm nowhere close to your times, but last night I got into the late 2300's (probably out of that range now since I slept ) and got curious. So I asked a friend to sit with me and count Canadian flags in the rankings. Even counting Let Canada In, I was the 27th Canadian from #1 to #2387 (where I was at the time) with a 1:24.484... Can that really be true??? Has the news of Canada not allowed to participate really affected our attendance that much? Kind of curious to get your opinion @GREASY SAM.

Even with PB sectors it wont give a 20.9

Defiantly I can think of two guys for sure that would have made it but they haven't been back since the bad news. To bad really. Not likely Canada will ever be allowed in again with no attendance on the leader boards. I worked all year to get where I am. Send me a friend request if you want another frustrating blue line.

Hmmm... it would only be frustrating IF I actually saw it past the first 500 metres. ;) With you being a full 2 seconds faster than me in this round alone, the dust from your car would have time to settle down, get married and have dust bunnies before I crossed the finish line.

But I do thank you for the offer!!!

Cheers
