Never give up-never surrender!! :mad::mad:

Goodwood Festival of Speed (FOS) and CPoP

Been meaning to ask this myself but if someone went Goodwood to have a go, would they end up having to queue up all day for a couple of goes, even on a Thursday?(Goodwood) or is it ticket allocated or what?

Would love to hear from someone who went and had a go.
I assume they have ticket/booking sessions, but also allow people to queue up during some periods. I couldn't do that with everyone judging me lol

good luck mate, and @rono_thomas , do it for us 'ports :D

I completely agree. The ffb on the thing is just horrendous, almost to the point of undrivable. I can't begin to tell you how disappointed I am right now. It pains me to say this, but I'm done, not going to participate any longer. If people wanna continue saying this will separate the men from the boys, well that's fine, I'll be a boy but al least I'll still have a working wheel. Good luck everyone, hope you all reach your dreams.....and have working wheels at the end of this. I'm done.

Hey Cargo, I've read your post from the other threads about how you never give up, no matter the circumstances. Even driving with half your body paralysed. That to me speaks volumes of your dedication and tenacity (the Finns have a word for it: sisu - look it up ;)). Now the GT-R is an absolutely awful car to drive, I agree. And the FFB is probably bugged as well. But give it another go tomorrow when you're in a better frame of mind. Go in with zero expectations. I'm sure you'll adapt to it like you've always have 👍

Also a general tip to those who have trouble: LOWER THE FFB SENSITIVITY. FFB strength isn't the problem here, it's FFB sensitivity. For some reason with this car on this track the bumps make it go all crazy. I suspect it's because the car bottoms out a lot (like the Formula GT and Red Bull cars) because of a couple of factors:

1) Massive front downforce. It has 1500 front, which is the same as Red Bull and Lotus 97!!! Normally LMP only have 600 front. Heck even the FGT only have 700.

2) Very low ride height at the front, and big difference to the rear. Effectively the car is nose diving even at static load. Add to that heavy front + more front downforce (1.5x front than rear) the car is effectively slamming the front axle against the ground at high speeds.

3) Very soft rear ride height, soft dampers and minimum antiroll bars contribute to above.

4) La Sarthe is a bumpy track, even for normal cars.

I don't know how the real car is, but I suspect it has some filtering effect in the power steering. Either that, or PD messed up the stock suspension setup and/or downforce calculations. In any case, lowering FFB sensitivity helps a lot. It's not perfect, but it's at least drivable for long periods.

Trying to sprint an endurance car like this isn't much fun for us nutters who like to throw a car on the balance of the grip point. The car just understeers (as it's fairly obvious it would, just by looking at the tyres.) This round is all about the smooth and having the precision to brake at just the right point and stay on just the right line to haul the car into the low speed corners without incident. With my driving style, I've never come across a car that really doesn't do what I want it to as this. Perhaps the fully tuned Taunus SHO... I wound myself off to 8/10ths, braked early, used a higher gear in one or two places, and bang, a gold time.

I took my prize NISMO to Apricot Hill after to see if I could dial in a tune for it, and went from a 1m12 stock to 1m09 with a tad more brakes, bit of rear bias, more damping, 0/0/0/0 camber/toe, a stiffer rear antirollbar and 20ish/30ish/5 on the LSD. The car is all about downforce and front grip, you just have to know your target corner speed - there isn't much scope for adjusting it on the fly.

That's exactly how I feel too. Oddly this car requires even more precision than the Ridge Racer style drifting of the previous 2 rounds. The balance at high speeds is oversteer because of the higher front downforce, but at low speeds it becomes understeer due to heavy front. Then on power there's massive torque steer. You have to employ 2-3 driving techniques in one corner, so if your approach is even slightly wrong on entry, you are done. The cones don't really help either.

I find braking as late as possible helps to maximise the downforce on entry. Also at the chicanes it helps to tap the brake a little bit at the apex to help it rotate. Then it's a matter of patience, half throttle and waiting for steering to straighten up before giving full beans.

Looking at the Data Logger compared to the top times, I find that I'm losing time in braking (too scared because of it's high speed instability), but I'm on par at corner exit. Whereas in previous rounds it's the opposite  - I gain time braking, and lose it on exit (because I'm terrible at drifting RWDs). I have to switch my brain 180 degree for this round. Super frustrating, but I haven't felt this intrigued by a car in a long long time :D

It's gonna be an interesting 2 weeks. Good luck everyone :gtpflag:

30.2 with a Pad.. Top pad UK time which is all I'm going for. Only a few hours in though and tons of time to make on that lap - I was too scared through last chicanes so coasted through for the clean lap :P

Wow this is a frustrating event. Whoever determined the track limits needs to watch an actual lap of Le Mans and understand how badly he/she has got it wrong!

Car is ok, quite driveable, but also very unpredictable one lap to the next..

Some of the cones are actually on the road! I reference turn 7 (esses), turn 15 (mulsanne kink), turn 17 (mulsanne corner), turn 24 (first porsche curve) turn 30 (the kink between porsche curves and ford chicane), aaand pretty much all of ford chicane. 👍

This is quite a challenge!

My first decent lap was a 3:35.853 which put me into 68th place in the US Region:)

This was after about 10 attempts where red was my lap color due to over-running various track-side cones:guilty:

See you on the tracks!

Can't wait for tonight. From the leaked videos looks clearly like a very deranged FWD setup. Like an Integra with RH front , SS in the rear, no aero, negative toe, a viciously locked front diff and a gazillion power.

It's a new style, like: Fast In - Stop, Point and GO! :P

Is it easier to get a gold time compared to round 3 with a DS3?

Sort of, yes. Once you get clean laps going it doesn't appear as hard to achieve gold. I don't think I've managed gold in round 3 but my first valid lap here, after many out of bound ventures, was a gold one.

HAAHAHHAHAHAHA first time I got this car going over 200km/h my left kidney FELL OFF and I had to seek medical attention   this is honestly the first car in any GT I have driven that doesn't handle well not even on a straight line

That's how I looked when I realized what people meant by saying the road is quite bumpy

PD is just amazing :D oh jeez this really is a really horrible event in so many ways :scared: :scared:

Noticed in the vid that there is a kers gauge. Does this mean we have to hold a button down and manage kers? Or is it automatically activated?

Automatically activates in 3rd gear. It's quite a power boost! 👍

After reading how terrible/difficult to drive the Nissan is, makes me want to try it :D Just need to load the last 2 updates first...

It's time to push for that Top 14 :)

I'll set a time once I'm back from school.

Whoop, looks like I have time to get some laps in actually :D

I did a 38.6 after a few questionable off tracks, and the random cone placement is kinda annoying.
Might go back at it later today or tomorrow .

In my quick opinion, worse car ever used in the Academy. Car is playing havoc on my steering wheel, worse than the RB cars. They really need to turn the ffb down on this damn thing. I don't feel like killing my wheel over this. This really sucks as I really don't feel like putting any serious time into this now. In my opinion, worse Academy final round yet. Seriously thinking about calling it quits already, just not worth wrecking my wheel over.
You forgot the sound...This 'mosquito' two weeks in my ears?...no thanks...[by the way, you did a great lap in Spa! congratulations!]

ran a slow safe lap to get the car...saw that it is very limited on adjustability..put it in the stockyard with the Peugeot:dopey:
