All I need now is Jeff Gordon saying "don't hit the cones" and it'll be GT5 all over again!

Jesus that car is a handful. When I first tried it I was thinking wtf how is this even possible. Starting to enjoy the round but the bumps are all 🤬 up. Managed a 3:30.5** 38th out of non eligible countries.

I really am having a great time with this round, it's so staggeringly groundbreaking despite the familiar concept of LMP. The car is quite a challenge to handle, and is so uncouth that it's just got me enamored. I think it took me a literal 30 attempts before I set a flying lap of 3:32.9, and now I'm sitting at 3:30.6 (or something like that). Not quite good enough, but definitely a mark of improvement to see myself in (what was) 36th over previous years. Now, I just have to improve upon that as much as I can for the next two weeks, and I'll just maybe have a chance.

Someone's had a thesaurus out! ;)

I switched to roofcam. Couldn't drive it in cabin, it's a wacky beast with so much 'bonnet' up front. I did give cabin a serious trial at Apricot Hill though, and just couldn't find the apices.

Kudos on the time though. I CBA to get the wheel out, I'm sure I could knock a few seconds off and it would be more fun to drive that way... but meh. :D

Funnily enough I did switch cameras for a little while but thought I'd stick it out on bumper cam as I wasn't initially used to the other cameras after using bumper for so long!

Here's my lap if anyone is interesting, 6 tenths down on my PB best at the end of Mulsanne so tons of time to go!

You're beating me by a lot! Mines 3:28.624? Is it getting hard for you to beat yourself too? lol. I'm watching my position slowly drop hour after hour. :P

I don't know what to say about this round. Cool combo but massively difficult and inconsistent it feels like. Good luck to you all!

I am happy to say that I am ahead of you. :) I'm sure you''ll get a better time before its over though, we all know what you and all of the other GTacademy winners are. Don't even try to hide it. :)

Any word on where we can send the invoice to fix our steering wheels after this round ruins them all? The car itself isn't bad once you get used to it's wacky handling characteristics, this track is just so bumpy that it drives your FFB bananas.

And the track boundaries..... Jesus..... The track boundaries WTF

3:27.699 after one long excruciating session. Definitely can run a 27 flat but I need to figure out how I ran Sector 1 on another flier plus clean up Indianapolis/Arnage.

As for the car, the suspension is set to "NISMO shake". There's little confidence in placing the car anywhere close to the edge because it can suddenly drift half a lane. With track boundaries, Tertre Rouge gets me all the time. Otherwise, it hasn't been as big a problem because I'm having to be patient on throttle application anyways.

Had my first crack at it last night, and my GOODNESS what a mess this combo is. Either PD has played a masterstroke or made a complete balls-up of it all.

Used the DS3 initially and after about 15 attempts at a clear lap, managed to gold it first time with a 3:36.8xx. Then I got the wheel out....

From the second the 'Start' sounded it was uncontrollable, and it took me about 20 attempts to even start the lap! I immediately decided to unplug the power cable so the FFB was switched off; a tad annoying and unresponsive but I got used to it after a while, and it's MUCH MUCH easier. After about 1.5hrs I managed to get down to a 3:34.0xx - good enough for 138th in the UK - I didn't want to use any ghosts as I wanted to gauge where I could improve myself before using them this weekend.

Woke up early this morning and watched the top replay for the first time - I'm losing 2.5 seconds in the first sector alone so I know instantly where I'm going to work on this weekend. Plus the final sweeping sector is where you can make up bucket loads of time. But it's so frustrating.....

It's funny, the second sector reminds me so much of the old Hockenheim circuit!

Big respect to the top guys, I'm going to work my glutes off this weekend to get under 3:30 and anything else after that will be a bonus.

PS. If anyone else is using a wheel with the FFB unplugged, does this change the sensitivity of the brake pedal? I noticed a slight weakness in braking for the chicanes, leading me to brake earlier. Might just be me though.... :banghead::banghead::banghead:

After some serious mileage and a lot of red laps I finally got my "best" for day 1
3:32,585 good for 26th position (regional) ftm...
I can't seem to get the first corners right...a lot of improvement to do...but i think i can definitely manage some 2 - 3 seconds....

Finally got a chance to have an hour at it today.
Made gold but its tricky with track limits the way they are..
its hard to know where you can pinch or not.

Looking forward to having another attempt over the weekend.

regarding the rumble/ force feedback. its not great but not worth complaining about and i use a T500RS

Well im actually getting worse.

Yesterday I was rapid in different parts of the tracks at different times.

I was consistently smashing great 1st 4 sectors then losing it at the end. Then I improved my last sector in the evening session but nowhere near my best sectors at the start of the lap. I was boshing them out consistently earlier in the day. Today iv been on for about an hour and a half and I'm useless.

Couldn't string a lap together if I begged god. Pretty fed up right now. I should be in the 27's but haven't even recorded a 28 yet!

few things i picked up were to really brake early and go for those extremely good exits.. dont risk overshooting.

and with the T500 i had to wrestle it like a bull. All good fun!

It amazing me how many Japanese are fast straight out of the box and yet... do you think PD helps them a little bit? ;)

(half of them drive for RTRacing so it's okay!)

Done gold quite easy last night by driving with my brain. You can't drive it "normally" to start with. You have to hit the right braking point into the slow corners, turn in and patiently carry the speed it allows without overrunning the perfect trajectory, wait, wait, wait, then power out like mad.

Then you have to fine tune that to an art so you can take more than 10s out of the gold time and be on the top of the leaderboards.

Quite an interesting challenge. Love doing the Porsche corners. But the bumps... wheel's jumping in my hands all the time. Not coming back...

This always happens to me..

Monster certain sectors in different sessions, but never all together!

Have splits for a mid to high 27 but going to take a little while to lay that down.. All the while new randomers turn up at the top!!

If anyone wants to turn off those blue replay lines and have only your ghost... Then..sign into psn and enter the final round... Then upload your saved ghost and sign out of psn... Now when you enter the track you'll only be having your ghost.... I don't know if this is already known... But I just figured it out today :P

Yesterday I had my first go with this combo.

I'm ok with the car and setup given. We, as race car drivers, must adapt to any given car.

I am also ok with the cones. I can see them so I avoid them. They force me to create a new racing line but I just can make a new road map.

But the thing that annoys me the most are the track boundaries. I can handle a tight track within walls, like Monaco. What I can't deal with is a track with invisible walls, because I'm always unsure of where the limit is, and that, with the unevenness of the track, makes you always drive without confidence. I'll need to spend countless laps just to figure a racing line within the limits PD had impossed.

It's a good way to make an event hard but a bit in the wrong direction.

With such a long track PD could show a map or diagram showing invalid areas of the track in the description but I guess that's what makes it all the more of a challenge. Just keep pumping out those laps I say :D

I feel your pain mate, at least you've got a respectable time on the board! Mines terrible. Thankfully there is still plenty of time to improve but at this rate I'll probably never do it haha. I am giving it a break today to regain my focus and have a word with myself!

Good luck bud.

Already on my objetive: top1 DS3 in Portugal... but still a lot of space to improve. The thing is, with a DS3 and with this car, I have to make a lot of perfect decisions on braking, turning and accelaration points to be able to put an entire lap together.

Without the control and the precision of a steering wheel it's very hard to make it until the end of the lap without making a mistake.

Quite a challenge.

If I'm really honest it isn't getting hard at the moment to beat myself it's just about nailing a few of the really important corners. The entire back straight with chicanes is so so crucial it's quite amazing really. You mess up 1 of those corners and you can lose tons!

Still using the pad, really want a 28, feels like @jontikis' 28.633 is a hell of a lap on a pad. 👍

Had a quick go this morning, improved to a 29.086 - in theory can get to a 28.5 but not sure when/if that will happen :P
