Here's the video of my first clean lap I did earlier today. First impressions: sort of how I expected this car to handle. It has tons of downforce and you can really throw it around. You have to be careful, the car doesn't respond well to trail braking and the traction is good for an FF, though it has its limits. This was good for 3rd in the Netherlands and 60th in the world at the time of driving.

Any tips for the first sector? That's where I seem to be losing a lot of time, I think. 👍

Nope ;) Not for you anyway

Best way to improve is to watch replays mate and just keep driving round the track

It all depends on your driving style tbh. First sector is pretty technical.

I think I'm done for today or I'm going to explode. Earlier on I was. Monstering the first 3 sectors putting me 1.1 seconds clear against a 2.29.2 ghost. Then I'd lose it all through the last section and hit so many red laps. Now I can't get anywhere near my fastest sectors in the early part of the lap but flying through the last. Put still messing up and getting red laps. I worked out if I hit all my best sectors together I'd be in the mid 27's. Raging!!

Did four laps and got into the 3:35's. I was however using TCS (1). How much difference does it make?

I was hoping this car would put a damper on the whole slidefest, but after viewing the top replay I see it's not the case. That's my limiting factor in all of this. I just can't drive that way. I'm always trying not to smoke my tires, and doing otherwise feels so unnatural.

Think everyone's like that at the moment, or at least I hope they are :P That moment when you hit the final cone in the last chicane while on a PB lap... 🤬

Down to 29.3 now though, UK Pad #1, going to pack it in for the day and see what other Pad users can do tonight/tomorrow. Can definitely do a mid 28 if I grow some big balls through the final sector, probably low 28 if I get everything right.

Still using TC1 because on a pad (using X to accelerate like I'm still on GT1 yo) TC0 is pretty horrendous. Have tried it a few times at TC0 and have been quicker than my ghost, but it all falls away at Indianapolis and the slower corners, can't get the power down properly at all. Want to get into 28s with TC1 and then work on improving that with it turned off if possible.

Not a fan of the car, doesn't suit my driving style, but relatively happy with my time so far. Been away from GT for a little while, so the first few laps were blowing the dust off. Sitting on a 28.1 at the moment, with PB's putting me about 3/4 second faster. Was hoping to hit a 27 tonight, but I started getting too angry at the cones, in particular the cones on pit entry, I always seem to clip it when heading into the chicane. Not like it matters for me anyway due to PD's new rules. :(

There are basically 2 chicanes and 1 fast right corner.
On the first corner, start from a very external position, then close it quickly, and rest glued to the right curb for the braking. Brake early, as soon as your car is straight (the braking will be more efficient).
1st chicane. Here it's important to hit the apex well on the left-hander, so you'll have a clear racing line on the exiting. Don't go full-throttle until you're completely out of the corner and set for the next one. I suggest the 2nd gear. Leave some space on the inside on the next left-right hander corners in order to avoid hitting the cones, brake nice and early for the next, tighter, left-right. You'll have to stay glued to the left curb, in order to take the right hander flat out in 3rd gear. You can use the external curb without problems, the car will be stable. The last right hander (Tetre Rouge) it's a bit a throw of dice: it's all about timing. Try to set a visual reference though, it can be very useful. Be careful of the cones on the inside and the track limits on the outside. Exit flat out in 3rd gear. Never use the 1st gear, is nearly useless, unless in braking as engine-brake.
ATM I'm 1st in Italy and 3rd (if noone passed me meanwhile) overall :) (I'm using my secondary account Sky_FreePractice)
I love this car :)

Completely agree with you about the FFB. It shakes my wheel and bounces all over the place even on the straights. My times and never very good, but that isn't the point. For the people with real skills, the time and effort to reach near the finals will cost them a repair bill on the FFB system in their wheel. Eventually I'll get a clean lap and just get out. I can't remember any car/track that produced so much shake and wear on the wheel in GT5 or GT6
All gravel tracks were rumbling worse than this in GT5...

Wow thanks mate! :)

Well done on your time by the way! :D :gtpflag:

OMG I think I'm gonna kill myself. After having played for like 1.5 hrs, I think I put like probably 500 miles on the Nismo. I only managed a 1:38:xxx once. I gave up for the day and quit to exit to collect car and prize money and my PS3 froze @_@

You certainly have dedication, friend :)
That is always a great start in things like this! Perhaps a quick break will help, and you can come back to it some other time if you'd like to keep improving your time?

im playing with the thrustmaster T500 and yeah its crazy feels like what the Vettel car did t my driving force pro back in GT5. where on the straights I have to bear down on the wheel to keep it in my hand. I got the feedback torque and sensitivity on 6. took it down to 5 and made no difference. took it down to 4 and made a slight difference but the overall ffb started to feel weak

I played for an hour straight and my wrist is actually a little sore.
I hit the same cone 3 secs up on my ghost and just sat there almost wanting to cry

Exactly the same for my G27 - I'm sure the Vettel xcar ruined my first G27! Now playing with the wheel power lead unplugged duh

I'm loving this car though
You're weird.;)

Now, in my opinion, this is just pure bull****! GT academy this year seems to be a joke to them.

First they make these outrageous rules about previous national finalists not being eligable, then they exclude a bunch of countries with great potential. they then also cap the number of players who qualify, AND EVEN REMOVES NATIONAL FINALS ALTOGETHER!

Then.... then they top it of with this crap!

I have said it before, GT academy has its glorydays behind it. it has started its downfall for sure.

Car is interesting. After a few hours I managed to get a handle on it and posted a 3:36.0. When I first attempted this challenge I didn't think I could even muster a silver prize, but switching from cockpit view to Normal view was a tremendous help. That, and some left foot braking keeps my speed up in the curves.

Pretty upset to have out braked myself in the very last corner on my way to my first 27.. Dragged it over the line for a 28.3 but I left at least .400 in the last corner :banghead:

The rules have always been that way regarding previous national finalists for the U.S. Seems fair. The LM is a handful at LeMans for sure!!! Turned 5 laps, got a 34.xxx - hoping to get some solid practice in later this week to see how much more time I can find. Really looking forward to the 24 this year, could be interesting if Nissan can have reliability. Hearing 3-4 stints on fronts and possibly 10 on rears..

I completely agree. They don't even hype it up like they used to and here lately (last 2 years anyway) its the same old generic boring format: 3 meaningless time trials 2 weeks each before we finally get to the final round.

I agree about the meaningless first three rounds. They should take a cumulative time over all 4 events, with the lowest total time going to the finals. Otherwise there's no incentive to push yourself the first month of GTA. It's like coast, coast, coast, and then in the final two weeks all hell breaks loose!

Not even after all the complains here I touched it could be so bad. LookaLooks like a Ferrari at a rally course. Probably over for me

Well I'm only on a 3:28.209... Apparently done lots of mileage but I think that may be due to me restarting 90% of the time after I enter the straight. Then when I do get on an absolute stormer I nail the cones at the chicane lol! Maybe it's just my Man Flu playing on me a little!

Gotta say the bumper cam is horrendous for this combo, the car is so much wider than the camera I've sort of had to re adjust, and the bouncing down the straight, well good job I'm not travel sick! I do like the idea of the car though brings in a whole new driving style which is kinda cool!

I'll give it another few goes throughout the week and then the guide should be at the weekend! I can only play until Wednesday next week as I'm actually off to watch this car around that track live so I'll see where I end up!

Props to Wolf though that's an outstanding lap for Day #1! I imagine a 3:22.9 - 3:24 is possible. This combination will also be the biggest in gaps across all GT Academys as well I reckon, 1 mistake loses alot of time!
