In 1994, the leading Toyota 94-CV died and Porsche 962LM took the win.
In 1998, the leading Toyota TS020 died and Porsche 911 GT1 took the win.
And this....

I have got no idea what to say...

EDIT: The reason why #5 was not classified is that participants had to complete the final lap in 6 minutes but it could not.

I agree, it would be silly for them to give up. I can't possibly imagine they can get a more heart wrenching result next year, so the only way to go is up... In a way.
If they do, LMP1 will be completely VAG property.I really wanted to see the Peugeot in LMP1 but, money talks...

The only disrespect I am seeing is from Toyota fanboys.

Says a PORSCHE FAN (Admitting to liking Porsche is about as lame as admitting to screwing Fat Chicks... you NEVER do that man! Come on. Didn't your dad ever tell you? Never admit to banging fatty's, and NEVER, EVER admit to liking Porsches! )

That's a pretty awful excuse to act like a child.

#GETONMYLEVEL if you want to talk to me.

Like they're gonna stop and pull over after 23 hours of hard fought battle "Oh let's pull over Toyota "deserved" it"

It's a race to everyone
I'm not saying Porsche should've done that at all, I'm just saying they didn't deserve it as much as Toyota.

Going by your logic you think Porsche was going to reward Toyota with the win because they had won in the past. Why don't you tell that to Mercedes in F1.
Mercedes dominating in F1 is one of the many reasons why I don't care anymore for it.
Again, no, Porsche shouldn't have given the win to Toyota, I'm entirely talking about the emotional aspect.

Come on guys, clearly we're never gonna agree here so let's just not ruin the thread.

It's not like an internet forum based around a pretend-simulator is gonna finally settle the historical debate between rationality and irrationality....

Quoting myself from last night (when the 2nd car went to the garage)
Moral of the race/Being a Toyota fan. Never be happy or excited about anything :(

I just knew deep down that nothing was guaranteed for Toyota, they seem to just attract bad luck :(

Edit: By last night I mean this morning, been a long few hours.

I never thought of it like that, and that is an awful sounding picture... And that's coming from someone who was rooting for Porsche all race.

I acknowledge Porsche's victory, as sad as I am. They were right up there with the Toyota at the end.
What does bug me is the Audi getting a podium because of Toyota's final lap being too long.
No, they could pit him in and kickstart or something, or tell him to stop before start finish line.

Well, first time I watched, and it was something else to watch. Never had time to watch the full race or even much of it, this time got to watch several hours and it was amazing with litle "plot twist" in the end. Very nice.

People need to realise it is the 24 hours of Le Mans, not the 23 hours and 56 minutes or so - the race is to finish first after the entire distance, not a partial amount. Whether you feel Toyota deserved to win more or not is up to your own digression but it's simply not necessary to berate one another simply due to whom they supported.

I absolutely will not under any circumstance congratulate Porsche for winning this.
That's quite simply bad sportsmanship.

I get it, some folks are upset Porsche won because the Toyota broke. Some people are upset that Porsche won, period. That's fair enough. Was gutted myself to see a well deserved victory slipping from Toyota. Still. Acting like it's Porsche's fault the TS050 didn't make it and being all salty is, as I said, simply bad sportsmanship.

Sorry for singling you out, it's not like there's only you who's acting like that. Just needed to get that off my chest.

No thanks. I'd rather not stoop down to insults and temper tantrums.

And I find it hilarious I'm being labeled as a Porsche fan for calling a spade a spade. If anything I was actually happy for Toyota to get their first win before the car broke. Seems like objectivity is a complex thing for some on here.

Does the Toyota losing at the final few minutes remind anybody of the Netherlands in the World Cup?

I'm not trying to be offensive, and call me superstitious, but, perhaps some things just aren't meant to happen.

A tyre puncture in the final few minutes in 1999, a part from the FIA that went malfunctioning in 2014, and now this in 2016. Toyota has been a frontrunner for quite a few times, and has seen the Le Mans title being taken away from them in all those times.

There goes a saying in my local language that 'somebody isn't born to be a champion'. Perhaps Toyota is that 'somebody' in Le Mans.

Congratulations to Porsche, but to me, Toyota deserves this win more.
