Now I'm not a race driver (I've always wanted to be, but I just like cake to much), the only racing I've done is go karts, which usually end up in me finishing in the middle of the pack (the cake weight issue). So I may not know as much about it as some of the other guys on here (mr. $1.2 trophy room guy for example)

However, to say that Porsche didn't deserve this win, in my opinion, is just plain stupid.
We are talking about a race that lasts 24 hours, and for most of these 24 hours the Toyota and the Porsche have been within 1 minute of each other. Suggesting that the cars were pretty evenly matched. Meaning it really came down to pit strategy and driver capabilities. So of course Porsche deserved to win just as much as Toyota. Porsche did just as good a job preparing/racing as Toyota did.

You can of course argue if it's "fair", that Toyota once again stumbles inches from the finish line, but only if it's fair in an emotionel way. Not if it's fair within the rules of racing, those rules are pretty clear.

Or course Porsche deserved this win, they did a hell of a job. So did Toyota, no more, no less.

Resorting to name calling and ridiculing each other because of this seems beneath this forum.

Oh and for the love of God, what does VAG stand for?

Well, 🤬 me sideways, there appears to be a tiny sliver of justice at La Sarthe today!
Ignoring clear instructions from the race director and thus breaking the rules is something you call justice? Alright.
Please tell me again how Ford bought the ACO, the BoP and the broken light on the Ferrari.

And your initial reply assumed me as a Porsche fan. Which I am not. I don't really root for any teams.

All I said is that I see more disrespect coming from the Toyota fans than the others. Sorry for calling it as I see it.

Fair enough 👍

Volkswagen AG

EDIT: tree'd :lol::lol:

Nice to see my favourite marque win again by doing what they are supposed to do....finish all 24 hours. Bit of a burn for Toyota but that's racing. Build a car that's 0.5% more reliable next time and the victory is yours:lol:

Uh, be careful buddy! Apparently, you can't use a sporting result, as dramatic as it was, to laugh around here.

See:

You can shut up now thanks

The BoP is quite self explainatory. It's the ACO's fault rather than Ford but Ford willingly played against the spirit of the rules. Is it illegal? Nope. Is it lame? Yes. And it's no secret to anyone that the ACO, like any :censored:ing french organization, plays favourites all the time.

And the thing on the lights is the same story. The call from the race director and was absurd, it was sticking to the rule way beyond reason. There was just no sense in penalizing the Ferrari for that, it would've been following the rule for the rule's sake instead of for the sake of what the rule is supposed to give sense to. If you're gonna go all neo-Kant on me, then I won't waste my time with further replies.

My apologize, do I disturb the peace in your conspiracy party against Ford?

I think we all can agree that the BoP was complete BS.
Ford was sandbagging, yes, but the Ferrari always had the same pace as the Ford. So where are the rants against Ferrari for sandbagging and disrespecting the fans and the sport? Have seen none of that going on, rather the opposite. Everyone was cheering and hoping that Ferrari would beat Ford.

Because Ford was not only way more blatant at tearing the spirit of the rule, which I agree is debatable. But what really settled for me is that Ford "swore" that they weren't sandbagging and even had the cheek to acuse and namecall the other teams about that 👎. Ferrari didn't made a big deal out of it, they just shut up and complied.

Again, my issue is with the style and attitude of the things, the how of the matter.

That is incorrect, VAG stands for Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft.
Aktiengesellschaft is German for someting equal to "joint-stock company"

I knew I had spelled it incorrectly .

Das ist B1 für dir... :dunce:

Congrats to Risi Competizione for making it to the pedestal. As much as I wanted Ford to own the pedestal like they did 50 years ago, disqualifying 488 for a pesky light wouldn't be fair by any means. Thanks to Giancarlo for defending the honor of Ferrari, which was near ruined thanks to AF Corse's cars, and not coming to a pit stop.

As on the Toyota's loss... well... sadly, you cannot argue with a breakdown. :(
Regardless, I refuse to pick a side on this argument.

So I take that you like no team around the world? Because every team does try to cheat the rules and lies about it. Which actually is pretty common sense if you ask me. Who doesn't lie when they get accused of cheating?

This is great. Fox Sports mentioned the end of the race on Facebook, and instead of people talking about the race, virtually all the comments are bashing Fox for their "coverage" of the race. They deserve every negative comment. They did a massive disservice to the U.S. motorsports fans by throwing the race to the curb and prioritizing the U.S. Open over the race that was already scheduled to be shown.

The Win...

And the utter disbelief and shock of what seemed to be the inevitable...

Congrats to Porsche #2 of Romain Dumas, Neel Jani, Marc Lieb for staying in the race, seeing it the way through, and not giving up the slim advantage to win, bring home Porsche's 18th overall victory at Le Mans. As for the the Toyota team, amazing effort all around in a near flawless race up until the last lap, with the #5 TS050 Hybrid going down. Still a decent result with the #6 car of Stephane Sarrazin, Mike Conway, and Kamui Kobayashi grabbing 2nd place. The team still remains as the bridesmaid, coming so close to breaking the 25 year Japanese drought of overall victory set be Mazda, who will have to wait until another opportunity next year in 2017. Congrats also to Signatech Alpine in LMP2 and Ford Chip Ganassi Team USA in GTE PRO, who has struck victory after a struggle in the USA to jumpstart the Ford GT program's comeback to endurance racing. And last in GTE AM, decent win for Scuderia Corsa. Even with all the classes this year having at least two teams within the same lap competing for the class victory, let's hope the 2017 24 Hours of Le Mans has more speed and excitement.

***A handicapped racer, Frédéric Sausset also finished the race in a Morgan-Nissan LMP2, which is also a major accomplishment in showing that mind over matter and people with dissabilites still can participate in things like unhindered people can, so major congrats to him as well for being a trailblazer!

But for now, this is all I have to say:

They've always been a disgrace to all kinds of motorsports when you think about it.
