2016 Pirelli Spanish Grand Prix

Aw man. I was really looking forward to the post race coverage after a historic win and the clash between the Mercedes drivers, instead we've got five sports channels showing football. 👎

I think Mercedes are lucky Verstappen won after that incident, this'll surely take a bit of the media attention off them.

Just as I suspected why Kimi couldn't get close enough to pass. These cars are way too under powered for the downforce they produce.
The lack of overtaking is wholly track specific. I've been banging on all weekend about how the final corner ruins everything.

US has ten channels showing it.

Apart from Max winning this race, this was a great race.

A fight for 1st for most of the race. A fight for 3rd for most of the race.

As great of a race this was it exposed how poor these cars are when they are close though. Basically impossible to pass unless you make a stupid move or have a car this is clearly superior.

Not taking away from his effort but you could have had Aryton Senna in that Ferrari and the result would have been the same. These cars cannot pass each other if they are close.

If you have enough of a difference in tire condition, it's possible.

Granted, Kimi's tires were only a lap younger... Ricciardo only managed to get a few good looks in because he had a six lap tire delta to Vettel... but that Max managed to beat Kimi, of all people, on tire preservation is what made this drive pretty special.

It takes a pretty level head to both defend and preserve the tires for that long in a race.

Also, the cars are definitely not underpowered for their downforce. They actually have more power than they can use on corner exits... which is why Max had to short-shift for over a dozen laps with Kimi up his tail-pipe.

Not saying overtaking is perfect this season, but compared to the Trulli-train? Or the two seasons where Alonso's slower Renault managed to hold up faster cars behind him to grant him two championships? It's actually not that bad.

The worst thing, really, about the last two seasons is the sheer difference in pace between Mercedes and the others.

Stop moaning, it is for everybody the same.

I'm beginning to think he's the RedTalBoa of the F1 section.

If that is true how many bottles of the stuff does the F1 body carry of the non alcoholic stuff just on the odd chance a driver under the drinking age gets on to the podium?

Providing his father is there he should be able to consume alcohol. It's not like he has to pay for it, that would be different. That's pretty much the same in most Western countries.

A person may purchase an alcoholic beverage for or give an alcoholic beverage to a minor if the person is the minor's adult parent, guardian, spouse, or an adult in whose custody the minor has been committed by a court, and he is visibly present when the minor possesses or consumes the alcoholic beverage.

Further to disproving the above any legal case against Verstappen or F1 would have to prove the "criminal negligence" test. I very much doubt that would hold.

The Mercedes incident was a clear racing incident, I don't particularly like Hamilton but it's totally irresponsible for senior team management to come out blaming him 5 minutes after the incident (I said the same after Spa too). Great day for F1 fans, hopefully when the Renault upgrades come for Canada we'll see a few more days like this.

Yeah that's fair when you put it that way. It's better for sure but still somewhat annoying to watch knowing the trailing car has almost no chance.

Who's idea was it to put Vettel on the 3-stop strategy and Kimi on the 2 stopper?
Technically Kimi was and still is the leading Ferrari driver in the championship, so it makes sense to leave him out.
