I just realized I compared the old Prius with the e-tron. Guess Ill have to wait until Toyota updates their website.

@unit-one

Is there still a difference between hybrid and plugin hybrid with the new Prius generation?

Probably because anything that sold inside the production country almost always priced lower than the others?

Im not so sure about that, somehow german cars tend to be cheaper in the US.

I don't know. By the way, the old normal Prius and Plug-In version are not on the list anymore. They were there last year, but I don't remember the prices. Just the Plus version and the new one are on the list now.

Sorry to bump the thread but I have to say one thing: I 100% agree with what @Eunos_Cosmo said.

Saw one last night in downtown San Francisco. It's even more hideous in person.

But to agree with what you guys said. It looks even more uglier and quite awkward looking when I have saw it in person. Especially that front end.

It just got released in this region for the first time ever earlier in the morning. Sorry but for around $26255, I rather have the toyota 86 corolla or something else for around the same price.

Of course you would - you're a young car enthusiast with no family. Two completely different ends of the spectrum.
If I or anyone else had a family, I or they would have bought a Rav4, Camry...etc instead since it's cheaper. Unless the fuel is very expensive (the fuel price over here actually raised up by %60 recently but still) or the Prius were sold for cheaper price then I won't buy one.

Well it can't be worse than the standard model. I wonder if they purposely made the Plug-in/EV variant (which is what this is likely to be) more aesthetically pleasing just to justify the price premium

I think it's more self-depreciation than anything. It's possible Toyota knows the Prius is bad, and they're having a bit of fun with it by putting it into these ridiculous situations (Prius 4 pursuit commercial).

And to be honest, I actually like those brake lights.

That'd be stupid enough business idea that I really can't imagine Toyota doing so. They very likely thought that the new Prius would appeal to the general public, why else put it in production.

I wasn't being serious, I thought the laughing smiley gave it away. ;)

Obviously a large automotive firm with a pioneering car know what they are doing, I wouldn't suggest pulling off such a controversial idea.

Turns out I wasn't wrong! Say hello to the Prius Prime, a Plug-In Hybrid version of the Prius IV.

This is how the prius should have been in the first place! Looks a lot better than the current normal one.

Whoever designed that rear roofline has never seen a real car.

It is still the most atrocious use of cheater panels I've ever seen. And that includes the dreck that's come out of China in the past decade.

The back is worse, the front is light years better. The window line and roof line is still frustrating to look at.
