But during racing season and not being truly wanting of another event, Indycar no less, is kinda annoying. :indiff: It just reminds me of COTA that's all.
Look at it this way. Owning a track is a business venture. If you've got event promoters coming to you, telling you that they'l bring ______ to your venue and will pay you $____ to do so, you're going to take those deals.

If you've got a racing series that barely gets attendance outside of Indianapolis and Long Beach, and they aren't willing to pay to play, you're going to not accept their offers.

Also, COTA doesn't happen because Eddie Gossage doesn't want race series that compete at his speedway that sits north of Dallas running other races in Texas because it takes away from his venue.

That's probably why Bristol is hosting football games, their race attendance is falling and they need the money.

@Carbonox
That's quite surprising considering Cheever probably sees this as pre-season test sessions :sly:.

First IndyCar race. Rainbows to the east, Sun is trying to break through in the west, and trucks at work drying the surface. Hope I didn't waste 100 bucks.

A BIT LATER: I don't know what's more cringe-inducing, the photoshopped driver heads in famous movie clips, or the previews for the actual movies.

Good luck to all drivers and teams tonight at Texas Motor Speedway. I'm sure this will be just as frenzied a race as any other around Texas. Enjoy, fellow Texans of GTPlanet, as IndyCar provides its awesomeness to this great state of ours.

The pylons are coming on, Robosaurus is out on track, and damn these jet dryers are loud.

EDIT: ROBOSAURUS ATTACK!!!! The white car WAS a T-bird.

Driver intros should start any minute, guessing a 9 pm (10 eastern) start.

Also, CareFlight chopper has arrived.

PSS: intros starting.

Only 22 cars tonight?

22 is the normal car count.

Should I have gotten a seat lower in the stands?

How far do you have your camera zoomed on those pics? If that's your view with no zoom than I would say you have good seats, close enough to see the cars but far enough back to see a good chunk of the track.

Those are at 8x zoom, I'm in row 60. I didn't realize the fields were smaller than I last remembered.

Yeah, I'm sitting at the first dogleg, I don't think so jack.

Much better national anthem tonight. 1st Cavalry Band showing everyone how it's done.

They've got to have to turn up the jet temps. The air is not moving, the sun is down, we need more heat.....has Robosaurus left yet?

Badly! The two trucks coming out of 4 are almost to the finish line, and what had been dry is damp again five minutes later.

All of this with only .74 inch of rain today and only .05 in the previous 6 days. :banghead:
That said, we've had more rain in the last month than I can ever remember. West of here towns are still partially flooded. It's been a weird 2016.

If my battery holds, I'll be back when the cars are on pit road.

That information came from a weather station at the track. Does Verizon have charging stations available?
