Surfers in February would be a interesting way to start the season I guess but will the V8's want to move that round from after Bathurst to their season opener? I cant imagine the city spending the money to setup a city track twice in a year.

Also I think that if Graham Rahal could convince LeBron to back a return to Cleveland, I would love to see that race back.

Pitiful....
Nice click baity headline while burying the fact Indycar is owed $4.3 Mil in the last paragraph.:boggled:

IF anybody at IMS has a working brain cell they need to get the names of those 4000 ticket holders and give them free weekend passes to the race at the Glen NOW.

Not sure that Burke Lakefront Airport has kept up on runway maintenance like they did when the Grand Prix was being held there.

It has aged very well, I could imagine it being used today and I wouldn't think anything of it. Although, it isn't quite as unique as the Champ Car before it and the current Indycars. It doesn't seem as uniquely 'American Open Wheel Racing' as the Dallara and current Indycar look, but still a very good looking race car.
Great additions! Now, which one of the tracks currently on the calendar will be axed? It seems that each time a venue is added, another gets dropped.

A solid mix of tracks for a future Indycar dates. 👍

I'm also a big fan of the Lakefront race and would love its return.

But a race at Cleveland need to be scheduled away from the Detroit and Mid-Ohio events to avoid hurting each others attendance numbers.

I don't know, you generally need some pretty flat & smooth tarmac to be landing aircraft on. I am sure the runways are fine, the low speed taxi-ways & such maybe not so much.

It's a small airport. Not something that's landing large commercial planes. They were doing special maintenance for racing purposes that they wouldn't have had to continue with when the contract was terminated.

Honestly, Indycar would be better off waiting for the proposed Toowoomba circuit to be built than to try and fit in at Surfers' Paradise. The series outgrew the circuit long before it left the first time, and the circuit has since been shortened; there's a light rail network that has gone in which might make restoring the original layout impossible.

I'll just hope they finally manage to end the practice of adding new venues at an equally constant expense of former ones. But if one track deserves to be dropped, it's Gossagering for me, as always. :dopey:

Long time team owner Carl Haas died last week. http://www.racer.com/indycar/item/131737-vale-carl-haas

That's a big loss for the American Open Wheel Community. One of the great owners of the sport. He'll be missed big time.

Ironically, It turns out the last American team in F1 before Haas F1 was, get this, Team Haas. I know its two different people that as far as I know aren't related, but what a coincidence that is.

I'm pretty sure that "Maldonado on an oval" is Spanish for "attempted murder".
If Dallara was financially hurting, Maldonado will ensure a boost in sales for parts

Hey, it could be worse...

At least Pastor can drive at race pace/

Unexpected rain shower came and went and it sounds like the race will start on time today. Green flag 5:40 PM ET

I actually liked Milka Duno, except she was incredibly off-pace in her time in IndyCar. And let's not forget the spat she had with some girl named Danica Sue Patrick long ago in the pits. I otherwise better regard the beautiful Venezuelan as quite good in sportscar racing ranging from the former American Le Mans Series and even her time in the former Rolex Sportscar Series.

So I guess it's time the Hawkeye State gets its shine on with IndyCar at Iowa Speedway. I always call Iowa Speedway as a short track that thinks it is an intermediate. It's a fun track to me. Let's just hope this race doesn't turn out to be some snoozefest. Good luck to all drivers and teams for this race.

Iowa is never a snoozefest.
