Coming up in this post is a look at the July 2016 schedule. Or unless you forgot that there is still a season left after the Indy 500, this post is a reminder. Check it:

--- IndyCar Series: July 2016 ---
* July 10: Iowa
* July 17: Toronto
* July 31: Mid-Ohio

One of each- an oval, a temporary course, and a permanent road course. According to the IndyCar Series website, the Toronto and Mid-Ohio courses will be on CNBC while the Iowa race will be on NBCSN. So the IndyCar series will stay in the Midwest while also leaving the country for a race in Canada. And unfortunately, the only non-American course on the schedule. It's a far cry from when I first followed racing in 1999 with (then) CART racing in Canada (Toronto and Vancouver), Japan (Motegi Superspeedway), and Australia (Surfers Paradise). But... there's your schedule for July 2016. Maybe you'll be planning to go to some of these races or anticipate each one.

Final notes... that was a great race at Road America yesterday. The final few laps were like gloves off in the final round of a heated boxing match. Great the series raced there again after so long.

Was i the only one of us at Road America last weekend?
For my first Indy race it was pretty cool, though i thought the grid felt abit small.
The V6 engines make a pretty decent noise definitely sound louder than id expect F1 to.
Plus seeing all the Indy and former F1 drivers like Rossi who i witnessed storming out of his car seeming abit angry after qualifying, Takuma Sato, Tony Kaanan wandering around most the weekend in a golf kart. If you look hard enoff most the drivers at a certain point may fly by you on a moped.
Which is probably the coolest part of RA is the lax security and being able to wander the backside of the pit lane and walk up to the car haulers and watch the crews work on the cars just inches away.
Even got hit with a little champagne in the winners circle :D

You know, I am kind of in the middle of more time between races and better distributing events. My only problem is trying to end the season so early. I will still watch most other sports even after Labor Day. However, I love racing more than I do almost any traditional sports. I'll even enjoy late races before NASCAR's Chase for the Cup races. I mean... CHALLENGE NASCAR. More people probably would watch NASCAR over the IndyCar Series, but IndyCar is still a solid product. Just try to grow the motorsport maybe to the classic (then) CART days.

On a different note, I still find today's IndyCar machines to be brutal looking. Many others would argue at least it's better than the aging Dallara and Panoz G-Force machines of old. I still fancy the Panoz DP01 Champ Car used in the 2000s. Some people sort of think the newer IndyCars may ultimately somewhat be like baby LMP-style machines but with the wheels open. In a way, I could see something like that. But even with so much more bodywork, these open-wheel race cars are still open-wheel race cars even with much more bodywork and aero changes.

I haven't read the article about the potential return to Surfers Paradise, but it would be cool to see them return. I always considered Surfers Paradise to be a signature race in IndyCar racing. Having Road America back on the schedule was great. Imagine a return to Surfers Paradise to go with it. This would be some good old school IndyCar goodness.

I'd love to see IndyCar return to Australia. I'm not sure the shortened Surfers Paradise circuit would be suitable though. How about a race in Adelaide, bring down a few historic IndyCars and tie it up with the Adelaide Motorsport Festival (basically our version of Goodwood Festival of Speed) in the second half of the year. Now that would be a successful event!

So this race happens the day after hell freezes over and Firestone provides studded blacks and reds for the event.

Just to give my two cents on looks: No open wheel car has, for more, said more "I'm a pure Open Wheel machine" than the Dallara's that came before DW12's. They for me were the pefect open wheel vehicles. Minimal bodywork, just the front and rear wing.

Not gonna lie, as much as that car was dangerous and had a terrible record of safety compared to the DW12 (so far), its still a million times better looking.

Triple post...Yes to Portland and Gateway.
