Pretty sure its the same engine the LMP2 cars have been using so not sure why the concern over that.

That motor is a 5LT V8 if my memory serves right, the new TTV6 could be from the LMGTR or the GTR GT3,

That engine isn't powerful enough. It's supposedly a TT V6. Like @TDZdave said, either the GT3 GTR's or maybe even the lmp1? There's another source saying it's the V8 Supercar Altima engine.

How is it not powerful enough? The V8 supercar engine as far as I know isn't nearly as restricted in power as the LMP2 VK, they're both on the same architecture of engine design, and the LMP2 version and full tilt is capable of 800hp, so it stands to reason that "isn't powerful enough", isn't all that correct.

Also if it's a TTV6 then the 3.0 from the LMP1 makes sense, but if that was the case then Nissan could have just stuck to the previous race engine TTV6, and yet didn't because they liked the benefits of the N/A V8. So I'm finding it hard to see why they'd go back on the VK45 for a new V6 twin turbo, when they already have two of those for racing spec. And the one that they may use is only 40-50 more in horsepower. I don't see how the VK56 can be used as reasons stated above, unless they 5.0 rule still exists for max capacity of engines going into the DPi era.

It seems logical as @RACECAR put it to keep using the VK45 since the engine is more than powerful enough if Nissan wanted it to be. Clearly where it stands now is more advantageous race wise, and probably why so many use it.

So from what I heard, Fox basically has been stuck with IMSA because of their NASCAR coverage going all the way back to when NASCAR bought out Grand-Am. Kinda tells you all you need to know about the way Fox as been treating their coverage of them.

Looking forward to these DPi cars,

Though those silly shark fin things can go away!

I don't mind shark fins so much as all these new wings everywhere that are held up from the top down. They look like poop and a little tiny voice in the back of my head says, 'it's gonna break off while they're driving.'

Are you referring to the "candy cane" style wing uprights that are really noticeable on the Audi R8 amd Lamborghini Huracan GT3? That appear to be also hanging off the back of the LMP2 shark fin and touching the rear wing?

Can't really fully understand the desire to mount it such a way either since BMW, Corvette, Aston Martin and Ford all mount it from the bottom. Thought I believe Cadillac mount it up top as well. Believe I heard a long while back it was a drag thing.

Just wanted to pop in and say thanks for thinking my artwork was good enough to use as your avatar! Really appreciate it. :)

---------------------

Been to three races this year, hopefully three next year as well. My favorite series of racing for sure.

Along with improving their coverage, they need to PROMOTE the races and put them on FS1. This is why the sport only got 33,000 viewers and the WEC even worse in the 20s at COTA.

WEC gets NO promotion whatsoever in comparison to IMSA AND it gets aired at wacky times. Hell, the races in Mexico AND COTA could've been perfect opportunities to promote the hell out of it (even take advantage of the hours by having live coverage on FS1) yet it was wasted.

I dislike the look of the Ligier entirely; however, I'd much rather see 15 ugly cars putting on a good show than 5 really cool looking cars putting on a terrible show

At least there will be extra variety in IMSA at least with 3 aero kits plus the cars running WEC bodywork.

I'm just happy the class is growing instead of shrinking. Hopefully IMSA is smart and replaces PC with a DPi Pro-Am class so even more teams join (at least for the NAEC races).

Not a fan of any kind of driver ratings or am class. GTD is going to have Scott Pruett and Ozz Negri as amateur drivers in it next season. Broken system with no good fix. Plus, ESM won with Ed Brown driving at Daytona and Sebring

I'm really glad we're in for double digit DPi entries though

It's a swan neck thought this was known since it first came about after F1 dropped it and Sports racing adopted it. It's actually a safety feature to prevent blow over so when the car goes noes up in the air for example.

I'm definitely going to miss the original Daytona Prototypes, this is definitely an end of an era. I remember watching them race on TV by complete accident back in 2011 and I enjoyed it lots, some of the best racing I've seen and was completely unique in terms of cars. This nostalgia is what caused me to be on team DP during this DP vs. LMP2 era, even rooting for the Ford DP even though it goes against my GM judgement as long as a LMP2 didn't win  and I'm glad my favourite DP racing team (Action Express Racing) is getting lots of success during this period.

DPi will be an interesting era to look into, it's basically LMP2 but DP concepts and ideas thrown in on top of it, the spirit of DP will still live on in DPi :)

As for the Deltawing, stopped caring when they decided to make their car a coupe.

Gonna miss the Deltawing. Hope it can live on in some way... If not, let's at least hope for a good result at petit
Not making fun of it, but in a couple years time it'll be eligible for historics, being as its no longer in homolagation for anything.

With the Deltawing gone at the end of this season, who will I have to cheer for?
I heard that there is a slight possibility that they might make a GT car. But they'd have to actually make a production model of that God awful render they released a few weeks back though, right?
