Wait, what happened to the #44?
John Potter decided to sacrifice his own points from the race to go for victory in the race for his teammates (and in the NAEC) by not making the minimum drive time. Unfortunately for them they're not the most literate so their understanding of the rule was wrong which pushed the car down to last classified in GTD.

Oh man. RLM is saying that the Turner BMW Klingmann was driving and stormed out of at the end was still likely able to race. If that's true, Jens is really going to be in hot water because a factory driver just walked out of one of BMW's more famous customer teams that they have supported for years.
Not good for him....za Germans will not be pleased. :scared:

IMSA posted something on Facebook a little awhile ago. Basically saying they are aware of the issues and welcome all feedback. The comments are a lot more civil than here but the same idea. Of all times for them to have issues this really is a nail in the coffin.

Listening to IMSA radio now, can anyone recommend a good VPN so I don't have to put up with Fox's crap next season.

I've been using PrivateInternetAccess (PIA) for years with great success. Highly recommended. It's $40 per year but worth every penny.

It might have a huge 'murican flag over the side of it but this is a victory for European motorsport, the beautiful Ligier and the brilliant Olivier Pla beating the DP whales.

Overselling that abit, aren't you? It was a car winning a race, not troops winning some war over oppression against European values.

So, who won the P Championship. The championship points haven't been updated since the 3rd last round with my sources.

However I assume it is the #10 Corvette DP because of a 1st and CotA and a 3rd here (from the race results I read).

Nah it was the #31

Either way, I am happy that the DP was able to clean sweep the entire LMP2 vs DP era of this series and while it was a different car this time, I am happy that my favourite team won all 3 seasons.

I'm going to miss these fantastic machines but at least DP came out being 3 time winners. :D.

Hope the 3 Corvette DP teams continue to compete in this series next season, I don't care if they go in different DPis or some teams move to the GTs or even PC (unlikely of the latter ), I'd probably root for all of them.

Do you think the Corvette DPs will continue in another "vintage" series or they'll be boxed up and maybe auctioned off?

AXR will be the Cadillac factory team, WTR I believe a pseudo Cadillac custo mer team, and SDR will be using a generic LMP2. Thankfully a few PC teams are going to DPi's so that should clear up.the mess a bit.

Wait, what!? The Ligier has got to be one of the ugliest prototypes ever made! I'm no fan of the Daytona prototypes but that monstrosity makes the Corvette DPs look like works of art

You're kidding right? Please tell me you're kidding. Everyone has their own opinion I suppose. The Ligier isn't the prettiest LMP2 by any means, but it looks miles better than the DP. I'm glad to see the DP's go, they're just hideous in every way.

I liked the C7, wasn't keen on the C6, some of the older ones looked cool and others looked crashed before they got track testing, same with all cars really, I am really looking forward to DPi though, they will have to have them ready for December surely,

Not kidding at all. I find the Ligier to be awkwardly proportioned, and the bulbous headlights and ungainly nose make the front look like a bug. Add on the big honking fin and you have a truly ugly car.

The only current P2 I find better looking than the Corvette DP (and the only P2 I find good looking period) is the Lola. And I don't even like the Corvette DP all that much.

LMP2s have gotten so much uglier since they went closed cockpit, I only really like the look of the Oreca 05.

I think the DP beat all the closed cockpit LMP2 in the looks department, I think the C6, C7 and Riley DP are some of the best designs of a Prototype, I just like its shape and they actually extended the front of the car which is what made previous DP not that pretty.

I'll miss DP being gone but at least they went out as championship winners during this era with the LMP2 not getting a single championship win :)

I can actually watch the end of the race without it being in what appeared to be 144p!

If you watched the race yesterday, I just came up with this:

Even though we couldn't watch...or listen...to much of the end, we still already know who won. Kinda like the people posting spoilers on GTP.

I thought factory teams weren't allowed in DPi?

They can, things aren't changing in that regard. Speedsource will continue to be the factory Mazda team, and AXR will continue to be GM's factory effort with Cadillac, as well as ESM becoming the factory Nissan team.

Edit: Watched the end of the race over again (thank you IMSA! :D ), and my God that was a crazy way to end the season. #44 and #33 were having an epic battle. Still can't believe that Magnus screwed up the driver time thing, but hey, great win for the Viper's final race in America.

I really like the fact that IMSA gave the IMSA Radio (RLM) broadcasts for the uploads to the channel earlier in the season after it was highly requested. They do seem to care about the fans in that regard.

Also, with the DP done for good now, Christian Fittipaldi is the only driver to appear in both the first race of the DP and the last race of the DP.

Regarding 2017 and beyond:

RLL will run the BMW GTLM team again next year but is reportedly looking at having a roster shake up according to this.

IMSA is supposedly in the very early stages of looking at a Garage 56 style project to be implemented in some future season. It is currently of low priority due to focus on the DPi, but reports say that some teams have already reached out to IMSA for ideas. Link here.

What exactly does Garage 56 mean?
Garage 56 is the experimental stuff at Le Mans. It's where the DeltaWing initially showed up. Most stuff that runs as a Garage 56 entry is Le Mans only and can't be run anywhere else and is typically only granted entry by invitation only.
