That's one way to cap off your first competitive game as Captain. Best hit you'll see all year from a defender.
I've never read such a load of rubbish in my life! You know nothing about anything if you're spouting off crap like that!

"Competitive game" my arse.

:P

 👍

It was great seeing the young team get a runout. Average age of the back 4 was 19.

Watford sign Andre Gray from Burnley for £18 million on a five-year deal...

Last season, the average age of the Celtic back four was 26. Against Kilmarnock, it was Nineteen. N n n n nineteen.

And the defending was different in many ways.

One more day....

Friday Night
Arsenal v Leicester (7.45 Sky)

Saturday
Brighton v Man City (5.30 BT)
Chelsea v Burnley
Crystal Palace v Huddersfield
Everton v Stoke
Southampton v Swansea
Watford v Liverpool (12.45 Sky)
West Brom v Bournemouth

Sunday
Man United v West Ham (4pm Sky)
Newcastle v Tottenham (1.30 Sky)

Strange to see Chelsea, the defending champions, not opening the season, also is their first game even televised?

UEFA Super Cup was on earlier, Real Madrid 2-1 Manchester United. 2 good points for Man Utd though; 1 being that Matic assisted Lukaku for the goal. The second being this picture:

@m8h3r Its the first time since the 03/04 season that the defending champions don't have their first game of the following season televised.

Ousmane Dembele went missed training at Dortmund today and went AWOL with his phone switched off, it later turned out he was with his agent in a meeting with some Barcelona reps, Barca made a bid for him today which was rejected, Dembele has been fined and given a one week suspension by Dortmund.

I did think it was weird....

Fair enough. If football the only sport where a contract means nothing?

I don't get it, how come the EPL has some non televised games?
No major sport in Australia misses out on any live game on TV.

I believe it stems back to the idea that if the 3pm kick off games were televised nobody would go to watch the game at the stadium. I personally think that's a flawed logic as it doesn't matter if Manchester United are televised or not it wouldn't affect my decision on a 200 mile journey to the ground.

It's the main reason I refuse to buy any of the sports packages on my tv bundle. I feel it is wrong that someone in Africa, America, Eastern Europe, Middle East etc can watch every single game live but someone who supports let's say brighton will get to watch about 8 games on TV.

Keep forgetting its to do with the draconian TV rules you got there.

It's not only in the UK. We have the same rules here when it comes to the 4 PM kick-off on saturdays. One of many reasons why I cancelled my subscription for £50 a month.

Yes £50. Just for Premier League. :dunce:

Looks like Danny Rose has caused a bit of a stink at Spurs?

Tottenham
chairman Daniel Levy is battling a pay crisis in the wake of England left-back Danny Rose's criticism of the club's ambition. (Daily Mirror)

Rose got a "heroes' welcome" from the Spurs dressing room, with team-mates threatening to speak out. (Sun)

Tottenham stars are lining up to leave because of the club's rigid pay structure. (Daily Mail)

For reasons of geography.

If a Newcastle United fan wants to go see his team away at Brighton on a 3pm Saturday kick-off, he can set off the same morning and be back the same evening, £100 lighter on fuel money. The only reasonable way for someone who lives in Brisbane to see his team play on a Saturday in Perth, or Melbourne, is on TV. Or take three days off. Or buy plane tickets.

Our Premier League matches are all easy to get to. If all of our Saturday games were on TV, the stadia would be empty except for the corporate boxes - and that looks crap on TV.

Celtic refuse rights to most of it's home games for the exact same reason. Even if you have the horrendous club TV channel in the UK you can't watch. Only if you have a hidden proxy.....errr, live elsewhere.

I highly doubt it, EPL crowds these days are filled with tourist fans the bigger teams would struggle not to sell out imo.

Yeah, that might work well for the Emirates, Old Trafford, Anfield and Stamford Bridge, but the Amex, St. Mary's, Riverside, KC, Kirklees, Liberty and Vicarage Road aren't packing in tourists - and away fans (the guys who support Newcastle at the away game in Brighton) are almost exclusively long-term season ticket holders.

All of our Saturday matches are accessible. There's no reason to live televise them.

Today's course of events:
10.00: Liverpool say Philippe Coutinho is 'definitively' not for sale, and no offers will be considered
11.00: Liverpool announce that Coutinho is injured and will not play this weekend, or at Hoffenheim in the CL playoff.
14.00: Coutinho hands in a transfer request

14.01: RAWK goes into meltdown.

Great first game, Arsenal 4-3 Leicester, Leicester were 1-2 up at one point, but two Arsenal goals in the last 10 mins saw them through, Giroud will be super-sub this season.

Also the first PL goal of 17/18 was scored by.....Alexander Lacazette, scored just two mins into his Arsenal debut.

Just finished Watford 3-3 Liverpool....

Two games into the new PL season, and 13 goals!!

Liverpool's defence is the reason they wont finish in the top four this time, woeful. Need Van Dijk badly....

Been a good opener so far!
Not if you're a defender or goalkeeper! There's been a goal every 4.3 shots - and one every 1.7 shots on target...
