Positive to see there was strong pressing even right at the end. Got a good feeling for this season. :)

Real Madrid beat Barcelona 3-1 in the first leg of the SuperCopa de Espanã.

Pique (OG), Ronaldo and Asensio with the goals for Real, and Messi scored on a penalty, in which should not have been called. Suarez dived.

Aaaaaannnd the shocker.... Ronaldo scored a beauty of a goal in the top corner, and got sent off minutes later... For a dive... Which didn't look like a dive in my opinion. No penalty but defintely no dive.

Interesting weekend of football in Scotland. Six red cards were dished out in total, ironically this wasn't one of them:

Barry Town made their return to the Welsh top flight yesterday after 13 years away. They were formerly known as being "that Welsh team" before TNS took that mantle after financial meltdown and bankruptcy saw Barry relegated as champions and plummeting down the tiers.

Their return to the top ended up in a 1-1 draw with Aberystwyth Town.

Conspicuously, TNS lost their opening game 2-5 against Bangor City. They lost their long term manager, Craig Harrison, to Hartlepool during the summer and novice manager Scott Ruscoe might find it hard to maintain the three trebles in a row Harrison secured.

As it happens, Harrison is struggling in his opening games at Hartlepool; he might be finding it tough in a division where his team doesn't have a budget ten times that of everyone else.

Ronaldo received a 5 game ban for pushing the referee after collecting his second yellow.

Diego Costa was fined two week wages by Chelsea for failing to report to pre-season training, it will be around £300,000 as he is on roughly £150k a week, gave a strongly worded interview in the Mail today basically saying he wants to move to Atletico Madrid and that he isn't a criminal etc etc....

Premier League clubs will discuss the proposed introduction of a new Summer transfer window that closes before the opening game of next season, talks will take place between every club next month about whether to change the deadline of the current window which is three weeks after the opening game.

Its reported that a majority of the PL clubs are in favour and could be voted for in the next shareholders meeting next month, at least 14 of the current 20 clubs must agree for a new rule to be introduced.

I'm not sure this would work, the new window would shut early but the windows in Spain, Germany etc would remain open for a few weeks longer, that's a dis-advantage for the Premier League.

Technically only 4, he gets a one game ban for being sent off in the first place. He's got off lightly in my opinion, it's minimum 6 games in England.

A lot of reports saying that Sigurdsson to Everton is a done deal for £45 million. Medical tomorrow.

I know he'll be a massive loss for the club but ill be glad to see this done as its dragged on for way too long and its stopped Swansea from signing any players until we get the money, we have been linked with good players like Chadli and Joe Allen and id welcome both at the club.

AC Milan reportedly reject a bid from Roma for Suso. They also send Bacca on loan to Villareal with an option to buy.

Blaise Matuide to Juventus looks like a done deal, hasn't been confirmed yet but he has posted a pic on Twitter of him posing with a Juve hat and scarf.

Sigurdsson had his Everton medical this morning.

A few things.

Zidane has now won the same amount of trophies as he as lost games since taking charge of Real 19 months ago, seven games lost....seven trophies won.

Gareth Barry joined West Brom this week, he is set to break the PL record appearance record held by Ryan Giggs having being just 5 games behind.

Tottenham have sold 70,000 tickets for the big game v Chelsea at Wembley on Sunday, that means there will still be around 20,000 empty seats.

Barcelona claim they are close to signing both Coutinho and Dembele but Liverpool have said nothing has changed on their end, Suarez is out for a month...

Liverpool should just let Coutinho go for 100million or whatever stupid amounts of money Barcelona are prepared to pay, and then reinvest it in a completely new back 4.

I don't think a new back 4 is the solution to the set-piece nervousness and the other defensive problems. The zone system in defending these set-pieces continues to be the problem. It's the matter of using the personnel they have rather than changing the personnel itself.

The back 4 they have is decent enough apart from Lovren. Robertson is a good signing and he's the type of fulll-back Klopp likes (gets forward and adds width in attack) But, maybe Klopp's system in the back is the culprit after all.

His high pressing is not helping matters either. They need a strong destructive type of midfielder to help shield the defense and that's why they want Naby Keita so badly.

Saturday
Bournemouth v Watford
Burnley v West Brom
Leicester v Brighton
Liverpool v Crystal Palace
Southampton v West Ham
Stoke v Arsenal (5.30 BT)
Swansea v Man United (12.30 Sky)

Sunday
Huddersfield v Newcastle (1.30 Sky)
Tottenham v Chelsea (4pm Sky)

Monday Night

Some very interesting games there, not just Spurs v Chelsea...

Missing the Swansea-United game because of work, don't think I have ever been happier to miss a Swansea or United game in my entire life!

Liverpool rejecting a £113 million bid for Coutinho is insane!!

Interesting fact, the Premier League team with the most Champions League winniners is Stoke, following the capture of Jese on a season long loan deal they have 5.

Darren Fletcher
Bojan
Xherdan Shaqiri
Ibrahim Afellay;and
Jese

Yeah, but can they do it on a wet Wednesday in Stoke?

United with a replay from last weekend, currently 4-0 against Swansea. :D

Well that makes a new record for amount of goals I missed by going toilet...... 3 in 4/5 minutes, can't complain.

Just got in from work, missed the Swansea-United game like I said, had a feeling it was going to be another big United win....
