As a Southampton fan at today's game, I am relieved that Charlie Austin scored in stoppage time since my team dodged a bullet. Then again nothing less can be said since it isn't easy being a Saints fan at times. But on the whole it is a good thing, I stayed to the end. Or the penalty moment wouldn't of been seen by me in person.

And while we didn't make it easy for ourselves in certain periods, it is a relief the team woke up near stoppage time. Now what needs to improve. Well Fraser Forster needs to take more command of his box as well as being more careful with his decisions & timing.

Stoke 1-0 up v Arsenal, Jese Rodriguez with a debut goal 90 seconds into the second half.

Hal Robson-Kanu comes on as a sub, scores the winner, then gets sent off so he's not injured for Wales' upcoming game against Austria.

Clever. ;)

Huddersfield 0-0 Newcastle at half time, a few chances at both ends but not great.

Spurs-Chelsea later...

Huddersfield continues the good opening match with 1-0 lead against Newcastle. Still 12 minutes plus added time left though.

Later tonight both Real Madrid and Barcelona will play their first games of the season in La Liga. Barca home to Real Betis and Real Madrid away to Deportivo de La Coruña.

There will be tributes before and during those games for the victims of Barcelona attack.

I'm not sure that there's even £15m in the whole of Burnley put together, but somehow - and for some reason - Burnley FC has given that to Leeds in exchange for a footballer from New Zealand.

New Zealand.

Everton are 1-0 up at the Etihad through a Wayne Rooney goal. That's his 200th PL goal.

Aaand Kyle Walker just got sent off on his home debut, City with 10 men.

AC Milan have completed a €25 million signing of Nikola Kalinic from Fiorentina and have sold M'Baye Niang to Spartak Moscow for €18 million. The Kalinic deal is initially a one year loan with an obligation to buy.

Got to say, with 100% of Everton's EPL goals this season (OK, only 2 games in, but still...), I'm mightily impressed with this Rooney chap - not long until a big club like Man Utd start sniffing around.

Burnley did just receive £18m for Andre Gray.

Chris Wood's a decent enough striker. I'm pleased he might be given a proper chance in the top flight after a handful of games for West Brom (2010) and Leicester (2014).

Celtic are already in CL action tonight as they play the 2nd leg of their final qualifier, albeit 5-0 up from the first leg.

It is currently 1-1 in the 2nd leg, with Astana taking the lead via a Celtic OG (in other words, Celtic have scored all 7 goals in the tie so far  ) - but that away goal has surely killed off any hopes of an unlikely comeback!

Cue £30 million for Celtic and £3 million for the rest of the Scottish Premier League to share between them!

Barcelona to sue Neymar for 8.5 million Euros for breach of contract, the whole thing is a mess!

some reports on Twitter saying that Kylian Mbappe will join PSG on loan for the season before joining permanently next season to bypass FFP rules.

Surely if AC Milan have to buy Kalinic next year, it's not technically a loan?

I seem to remember Mr Kenwright quoting about 15 million for him.

They did the same thing with the Kessie deal. Basically paying only the player's salary this loan year and no transfer fee until the following year. In Kessie's deal, I think it was a two year loan and then obligation to buy.

I guess that's one way to soften the blow of a €200 million transfer window.

Barcelona preparing a final bid for Coutinho of £138 million, if that gets rejected (and it most likely will) then one would assume they would move on to other targets, but they need to get a shift on as the window shuts next week.

No real surprise that Rooney has retired from International Football.

The Carabao Cup has been on this week with the second round games, the third round draw takes place from China tomorrow, at 4.30am!

As Coutinho, Sanchez and Van Dijk miss important games due to "injuries" (aka these transfer rumours), Mahrez looks like the man who helped Leicester win the Premier League in '15-'16. And he put in his transfer request back in May.

Some reports on Twitter saying that Liverpool have told Barca that there's no point in the £138 million bid as they wouldn't sell Coutinho even for £150 million, let alone 138.

Got to admire Liverpool here for what they are doing....

The only trouble is that I don't see him playing at the level he did last year when he's been denied the move he wants to Barcelona. Which probably means next year Barcelona will have him for 75 million.

Di Maria likely to be the casualty of the Nemar move. Barcelona is close to a 50 million Euro transfer for the PSG Argentinian in what could be an attempt to try and persuade Messi to resign.

Kylian Mbappe of Monaco currently earns £16,000 per week:
Real Madrid are offering him £120,000 per week to join his idol Cristiano Ronaldo.

PSG are offering him £320,000 per week to move back to his home town.

Decisions, decisions...
