This was a clear UEFA decision. After losing Barca yesterday they couldn't afford their wallets not being filled enough without at least Real going through.

I hate it when such an important game gets decided by something so questionable.

Not a fan of Juventus or Real but that was sickening for the Italians. I can totally understand why Buffon was devastated.

But why is it really questionable???

Benatia comes from behind, is nowhere near the ball (at least doesnt hit the ball) and robs Vasquez from a clear scoring chance.

According to the rule book, that is a penalty.

Their mistake.

I would prefer to see them go to extra time or even seeing Buffon defending the penalty and then watching the extra time. But Bentaia pushed Vasquez. And tbh, I don't like Vasquez at all. I wouldn't be surprised if he'd miss the goal.

Looked like Vazquez was already on his way down before the defender 'touched' him.

Also, very unfair red card.

It looked like he was going to head it towards goal, since the ball came in chest height.

Trying to say that Vasquez was already going down so its no penalty, is just rubbish.

Uh, no it didn't.

Anyway, he got the ball first, it was a unclear penalty pure and simple, ref made a trigger happy decision, no competent ref makes a decision like that in the dying minutes with a team winning 3-0.

He was probably getting into position for a header or using his chest. Also, have you read the referee report already? How do you know it wasn't fair? For the images alone, it's pretty obvious that Buffon was shouting in the ref's face.

Not only shouting, but actually pushing him.

Clear cut red card. No matter your name. No matter the setting.

But all the Real haters won't accept that.

So Bentaia did nothing wrong. It was the ref that pushed Vasquez. Right.

I'm pretty sure the ref, if he could choose, would prefer not to have to make that decision. But he had no other choice really. Unless you like games being decided by poor ref decisions ofc.

If Buffon deserved a red for that then no game would end with 22 players on the pitch.

Do you know what he said exactly? A lot of times what pushes the ref for a red card instead of yellow card depends on the words being screamed at him. And when you're on the level of Buffon your threshold is lower.

It was a red card for me.

Buffon was acting like a dick shoving the ref and screaming in his face like he did, he said afterwards that Oliver should have had some sensitivity because it was his final Champions League game, but Buffon shouldn't have done it in the first place and he should've known better.

All this talk about this being 'the work of UEFA', where's the proof? I'd love to see it..

No matter how much I dislike Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo in particular, he had a horrible game by the way, that was a penalty. Just. It's a free kick anywhere else on the pitch and I detest the double standard of not awarding penalties for tackles which are fouls anywhere else on the pitch.

I feel for Buffon. This is his Zidane moment; his final Champions League game ended with him being red carded and Juventus going out. Big shame.

Ramos was banned for the game tonight, I have been reading on Twitter that he will get a further match ban for watching some of the game from the tunnel, he was in the stand for much of the match (where he was pictured wearing quite a stupid hat) but then he watched I think the last 10 mins from the tunnel, which you are not supposed to do, but no-one told him, a bit harsh??

Card = Red

Right then people, the semi finals start tomorrow with Liverpool v Roma and Real Madrid v Bayern Munich is on Wednesday.

Excited and nervous at the same time.

Glad 1st leg is at Anfield... hopefully we can do what we did to City, and put a few past them.

Everything crossed ;)

Don't worry, Klopp is a specialist when it comes to reaching cup finals. You'll batter them.

He's also a specialist when it comes to losing cup finals but let's cross that bridge when we get to it.

SALAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This match started off a bit cagey. Now Liverpool have worked out that vaguely hoofing the ball up field and hoping Mane, Salah and Firmino get it is the way to tear Roma's defense apart. Liverpool had about 6 clear cut chances in as many minutes, and Salah scores the trickiest one of all. Beautiful curler from the edge of the box into top bins. Lovely.

Liverpool have started using thier pace more going over the top, that's the way to beat Roma because you won't pass through them easilly.
