Expect the Porsche LMP1 cars to have a new livery this year. Brendan Hartley put up a post on Facebook about testing and to keep a look out for the new livery reveal soon. I'd assume it will be the same design as the GTE Porsches, with the added black.

Overall I like the black livery but the way the white sits at the very front looks awkward in my opinion.

Porsche is predominantly black, Audi grey and Toyota a near even red, black and white combination.

Surely nobody will think the cars look the same now.

I'd actually quite like the look of if it had a sleeker roofline and more conventional rear wing endplates. That roofline though, it's just as bad as the early Daytona Prototypes. I really do appreciate the intricacies of the aero appendages though, almost brings me back to the circa 2008 F1 cars.

I actually think it looks good but then again I love ugly LMP's, I think the R15 TDI Plus is the most beautiful modern open-top LMP ever made.

I think Audi really needs to ditch the R18 name. This is no longer anything like the original car and it hasn't been for some time. As for the looks, I love it. It looks aggressive and I believe it's gonna be able to take the fight to Porsche. Audi hasn't won the WEC since 2013 but I think this is their year.

I know it is totally irrelevant when it comes to race cars but this new Audi R18 was given a serious beating with the ugly stick. The roof looks really odd and the front is quite nasty. I'm not a fan of the livery either and all that red across the back looks cheap and tacky. Having said that, it is nicer looking than the test car which was just plain offensive.

I need to go and have a comprehensive read-up on it while I wait for my Toyota TS050-HYBRID to be unveiled on Thursday...

It is but the R19 etc were trademarked by Renault so time ago. They usually last 10yr or so before they expire.

Renault has those trademarked too. It has R19, R20 etc although I'm not sure how many they have.
