I was just having a think about the schedule and I'm still quite seriously wondering why on earth they send anything to the Detroit Street race? Barber is a rather nice facility, why not go there, it's nice and wide so P class would have an easier time with traffic, there's places to actually put stuff. It just blows my mind that they even go to Detroit, I just don't get it, and I don't really understand why they go to Long Beach either, if anything that should be a GT only round. A return to Montreal would be nice too but I'm pretty sure the pit lane would be a bit small for the field size.

Well, it's not like there's a 2 mile superspeedway that might have a road course configuration in the state of Michigan they could use...

Nope. Nothing of note at all from 12626, US-12, Brooklyn, Michigan.

I have to admit I'd never realized that Michigan even had a road course until now. I still think that Detroit street course is about the wrongest place to take the series, the speedway would do better for sure. I also still think Barber should be on the schedule though, I think it could put on a great race.

Is that super speedway about 1/2 a mile from the home office of the big players? :D
Not sure what speedway you're talking about. All I see is a bunch of useless concrete and asphalt in a weird egg shape.

The real question is would you still say that if IndyCar went there again? :P

Looking at in on Google Earth, a road course exists, but it doesn't like it's used much for competition, it's like integrated with the camping sites. So if this were to happen, they may need to pour money into it for renovations.

Also, I second placing Barber on the calendar. Especially since we're going down to 3 categories after this year.

With the elimination of the PC class in 2018, what is going to become of the Limerock event? Is it just going to be for GTD?

As much as I love Limerock, I think PWC does a good enough job at hosting a GT3 and GT4 event there, and I could stomach losing Limerock from the IMSA schedule, to be replaced by either Barber or Mid Ohio.

They're already dropping PC at Lime Rock THIS year, so it will be a GTLM/GTD weekend.

And Lime Rock is the closest track to me, so based solely on selfish reasons, I'd prefer it stay on. :D

I didn't realise that was happening this year. In that case, keep it - I like the GTLM/GTD races from VIR 👍

Still would love to see Barber and Mid Ohio on the schedule, but I don't know which race I'd drop. I think most would chose to drop Long Beach and/or Detroit, but like I said before, I really like the street circuits on the calander. Guess I'd just have to vote to add 1 or 2 more rounds to the the calander

Assuming the circuit is in a good enough condition to host an IMSA event, I'd add Portland to that list.

Is IMSA going to do what they did last year and have the full races up within 24-48 hours of the actual race? I don't think I watched a live race all of last year (and wasn't planning on doing so this year). Things like Daytona are great because I can watch them over a week - I just avoid GT planet while doing so.

IMSA running in po-dunk Michigan is even worse than Detroit.

Less rovals the better.

Mid-Ohio deserves to be back on the schedule, as much as I dislike the track. Barber wouldn't be a good race.

Rebellion has a great shot at winning the race because of the bullet proof Gibson and a great driver line up that has experience. It's between them and Cadillac (crossing fingers for Mazda).

I'm hoping the 70 Mazda purely on James Hinchcliffe reasons, otherwise I think whichever number Derani is driving will be a bullet.

I think anyone could win because pretty much all the prototypes have some sort of issue during the Roar. My guess is that the team that can solve their problems the fastest will win. If that doesn't happen, there's a small chance that a GTLM might bag the overall victory.

Like the year of the Daytona Prototype's being debuted in Grand-Am and TRG won overall with their 911. Could happen again, afterall every single on of the car's is new, and while I said the Gibson was "bulletproof", its also fairly new. Anything could happen. Corvette GTLM overall win maybe? :D

All of the cars are new, anyone's guess is as good as mine. I have a feeling it will be one of the global P2 cars on top, and not a DPi until a little later in the season. I'm tempted to put money on that blue #90...

I want to make a pic but between the electrical gremlins of the Cadillac, The lack of confidence from Gibson themselves (Which isn't assuring, nor helped by the lone "Nissan") and Mazda unfortunately being the poster child of pretty paperweights when it comes to endurance as of late, its a crap shoot at this point.

GTLM has finished ahead of PC every year since the merger, haha.

From a reliability standpoint, Nissan is the proven package. That motor has run numerous 24hr events under the hood of the GT-R GT3.
