This group seems to be a very interesting one. After Colombia loosing what was in theory the easiest game, I wonder how this will affect their next two games.

The solution is obvious. As in rugby let the physio come onto the pitch without the game stopping unless the player is down in the box. Would stop play acting in a heart beat.

Players would just go down and roll around only when in the box or the Goalkeeper would do it also and then game will then be stopped anyway. Unless there is a punishment and more importantly a competent official/s to carry through with it, then the cheaters will always find a way around a rule, especially one with a built in loop hole.

Can't order all injured (real or otherwise) players off for minutes at a time really either, as kick lumps out of the other team will become even more effective than it currently is and it's bad enough now.

The only solution is better refs. ;)

Retroactive punishment should also be available - in other sports, if you are caught blatantly cheating then you are stripped of your ill-gotten gains. I know it can't apply as easily to football, but cheating players should be banned and fined, and goals that were clearly the result of simulation or cheating should be revoked and results changed accordingly.

And Japan win unexpectedly! What is this world cup???!
Unexpected yes, but yet another deserved result for an unfancied team who approached the game with the right attitude.

A cup world :lol::lol:

I'm happy for Japan though, after the last earthquake it happened, a little happiness had to happen to them :D

Hopefully all southamericans (specially my blanquirroja) can recover this 2nd round... 1 more defeat and we are dead...

An unfortunate deflection means Senegal take the lead. Deserving though, but this game could go either way.

18.3 million watched the England game last night, a pretty huge number making it by far the most watched programme on UK TV this year, by comparison the second place is the Royal wedding with 11 million.

NANDEYANEN POLAND :lol:.

Saw a bet before the world cup started of there being a goal in every group game and odds of around 500/1 in places. 1/3 of the way there already!

@Touring Mars The BBC PSVR app is quite cool, a good start in to VR football games. I just got round to setting it all up.

It is so amazing being there in the stadium with the crowd around you and being placed right behind the goals or up in the stand. I only just realised the little mascot guy was sitting on the sofa watching as well. I can only seeing this being used more in the future as the technology gets better. Fair play to the BBC for getting this all organised and set up free for PSVR for all the games. 👍

That Paddy Power pledge to LBGT causes looking good. Now up to 8 Russia goals totalling £80,000. So now lowest ranked team has 'qualified'. Theres hope for Qatar now.
