Tried my best to stay awake for the whole thing, but I just can't. Gonna take a short nap. Hopefully nothing eventful happens.

The anti-lag buzzing noise on the Ford's on-board camera is super annoying.

With that said, hitting the sack. Will pick it up again a few hours before the finish.

Yeah, the buzzing noise in the Ford sounds like an air compressor, and interestingly enough it also does it while on throttle once in a while. Not quite convinced it's actually the wastegates mind you, might be some sort of auxiliary pump throwing fuel in the turbos to keep them lit. Either way I don't care and I hope both of them break.

#22 is a BBQ, goodbye ESR.

And with that I'm also going to bed for a while... it's almost 4 am here!

BOP is terrible in GTLM.

As someone watching this type of racing for years, this is nearly as bad as the 2016 24h LM. BMW really needs help, Ford needs more weight, Porsche and Vette are pretty equal. It's quite telling when a car like the GT can run so long into stints above everyone else, and be as fast as they are.

Ford needs more weight

Radio Le Mans had a portion of Midwwek Motorsport recently about BoP. Apparantly the thing that makes the biggest difference to performance is the turbo restrictor; adding weight is only for fine tuning as the weight only makes a noticeable difference at around 70kgs/150lbs.

Did they just discuss something about the flow rate of bananamush? :odd::dunce::boggled:

It's 5am in Daytona. Having tried to stay up for the full 24 hours on my first visit to Le Mans, I can assure you that "mush" is a good description of one's brain at that point.

Yes but the car is already hard to BoP because it has significantly less drag than the others, which means it can run into stints longer on less fuel while still going as fast as the cars around them. Adding weight or doing a major adjustment to the aero would help in the direction of stint longevity. I dont have an issue with the laps that they're producing, they're best lap is .4 off that of others. It's when you think about how much better they can run on a long run while doing .3-.4 better over fast laps that worries me. Same reason I want to see BMW given help because they're on the opposite side of things and legitimately too slow.

It'd be interesting to see what keeps them so fair and balanced in Europe, and how much different weight, aero, air and turbo restrictions play into it.

FULL COURSE YELLOW!

GTD Porsche #73 crawling along the trackedge. Possible contact with the tyrebarriers at bus stop chicane.

No other indication of accidents but FCY still.

I agree, GTD (my least liked) is the best this year so far. I think the Proto is good this race, only because you have two teams on par with one another (Cadi AXR and Acura Penske).

That yellow #85 JDC-Miller proto definately has a green light on its tail. But for what purpose?

On a personal note, it nice to see the drivers that took 1st and 2nd in the only F1 race I've ever attended - the 2005 British GP - are on track together again, as they were at Indy last year, Montoya and Alonso. A pity they're down in 17th and 18th overall.

Edit: #7 Penske behind the wall after reported contact.
