They've got nothing to lose. I mean, most teams use the Commodore. So, it's probably not a secret how they achieve their speed.https://www.speedcafe.com/2019/08/09/kelly-racing-to-evaluate-aero-changes-in-winton-test/
I'm really liking how open Kelly Racing have been with the videos they're doing 👍. Some other teams should have a good long look at this instead of going the secret squirrel route.
“Over time, you will see more passenger cars from us,” he said. “You don’t really need to guess any further than what the most dominant segments are – in terms of where we would look and what we would try and push for. That’s absolutely where we’ll go to.”
Mr Lester would not be drawn on timing for Nissan Australia’s return to selling mainstream combustion-engined passenger cars, which may have to wait until the next generation of models become available. The company is now only trading with the ageing 370Z and GT-R sportscars.
Alternatively, Nissan Australia may look at introducing the K14 Micra light car. While it is built in France, it is manufactured in right-hand drive for the UK, which makes its prospects strong, particularly in a relatively buoyant class.
The L34 Altima mid-size sedan and A36 Maxima large sedan are also possibilities, despite being ruled out last year. That said, both models are manufactured in the US and China exclusively, which may weaken any business case, alongside the fact that they compete in shrinking segments.
here were Mika Salo and Wil Power, that have raced V8SC at Bathurst and the GC, respectively. I was skeptical of Earl Bamber as an unknown, but a good driver, no matter the discipline, will get their head around these cars. It'll mainly depend on how good the WAU cars are. Ekstrom really showed how good he was in a T8 Commodore. That's a big difference to running in a Tekno or, back then, LDM machine. We'll see.
Good job by Randle, in Practrice 2.
I'm waiting until after qualifying when everyone has had a serious go on decent tyres before passing judgement.Good job by Randle, in Practrice 2.
While I share your thoughts on not passing judgement just yet, at events like this one practise two is much more important as it gives that direct route to Q2 and saves the use of a set of greens, so pretty much everyone has a crack at the top ten times. P1 and P3 are more when the times are muddied.I'm waiting until after qualifying when everyone has had a serious go on decent tyres before passing judgement.
Until next year's new tyre rules come into play, Practice times are muddied by who's running what & what their objective target is.
Thanks for clearing up some of the mud, I didn't know that was the format for this round. While I share your thoughts on not passing judgement just yet, at events like this one practise two is much more important as it gives that direct route to Q2 and saves the use of a set of greens, so pretty much everyone has a crack at the top ten times. They look pretty empty on TV, perhaps that's why?Update: received a text message informing us that our GA tickets have been upgraded to one if the grandstands!?
Yeah, that was our thinking. We chose the Turn 18 stand and it’s only half full with qualifying coming up shortly. They look pretty empty on TV, perhaps that's why?
