Man Utd after Ferguson left never looked like they’d be down forever, with their money they were always going to build a good team eventually.
People had a similar feeling about Liverpool at the start of the Premier League after Dalglish left. 😳 🙄 Nothing is guaranteed. 😉

Man City 5-0 Arsenal
West Ham 2-2 Palace
Norwich 1-2 Leicester
Newcastle 2-2 Southampton
Brighton 0-2 Everton
Villa 1-1 Brentford
Liverpool 1-1 Chelsea

Just when you think it cant get worse for Arsenal, it does! Forget the fact that Xhaka was sent off the Arsenal players heads dropped after the first goal, just a complete lack of care and desire at the club right now and its a sinking ship at the moment, City might have got a big win but they didn't have to do a lot really.

Liverpool-Chelsea just finished, Havertz put Chelsea ahead, Salah got the equaliser right on half time from the penalty spot, Reece James hand-balled on the line and whilst it was a stone-wall penalty the red card for James was harsh, Liverpool tried to break them down in the second half but they stood firm.

Plenty of goals elsewhere.

Kurt Zouma has joined West Ham from Chelsea for around £30 million.

Looks likely that Ronaldo won't wear the number 7 shirt at United at least for now, simply because he cant.

I didn't see the game nor the highlights yet, but if I understood correctly, James handballing on the goal line, then it is a red card. It usually is, if it's a clear goal. The idea behind it is to avoid players doing it all the time, and then just getting an yellow plus the chance of the GK saving the pen.

A similar situation happened in WC 2010, Uruguay vs Ghana, Suarez handballed the ball in the goal line, got a red card, then Ghana missed the penalty (all this in extra time). In the end, Uruguay went through by beating Ghana in the penalty shootout. Some say that in these situations, the goal should simply be given.

As for Ronaldo, some say he might use number 28, the first number he used way back in Sporting, nothing official though. But we will see, most likely only after the international break.

Two things need to happen for Ronaldo to get 7 this season, Cavani must give it up, and then they'll need to get special dispensation from the Premier League to change it. Once the season starts the squad numbers at pretty much set in stone for that season, you can only take vacant numbers after that.

It was quite funny watching Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink trying to say that it wasn't a penalty on the Sky coverage. Apparently James' arm was in a natural position, because that's what happens when you raise your thigh to block the ball, your arm comes up in a scooping the ball away motion. 🙄

It seems Chel$ki were brilliant, defensively, and so Liverpool were rubbish. Jimmy Floyd thinks that any team up against 10 men for more than 20 mins should win.  Little mention of the Liverpool defence keeping last week's world beater, Lukaku, pretty quiet. 🙄 After last week, I was worried about what Lukaku would do, especially as I don't think van Dijk is 100% yet, but he and Matip kept him pretty quiet, but no pundit's seemed to notice. 🙄

It will hopefully work out well as more and more jump onto the Che$ki bandwagon. 😉 :)

It was a good exciting game though. :)

I wouldn't be surprised if Cavani gave the number away. The Premier League thingy might be a bigger problem.

Meanwhile in Italy, Juventus lost against Empoli at home in their first game without Ronaldo.

Wigan Athletic held a 15-second applause for, and the Wigan captain dedicated today's win over Portsmouth to, Keith...

“World beater”? Lest we forget it was against Arsenal.

Lukaku had 1 less teammate in the second half, but the credit goes to Matip and van Dijk for keeping him quiet for 90 minutes? Hmm. Maybe the pundits took notice of the actual storyline.

Which was part of my point on how pundits swing wildly in their praise or not. They were raving about Lukaku prior to signing, and then even more after his performance against Arsenal, some even changing their prediction for who will win the League because he signed. I think in this game, one shot blocked by Matip, and he went past a few players once, very little else, no muscling off players, no great hold up play, and that was before and after the sending off. They were all quick to give Lukaku credit last week, and the Chel$ki defence credit this week, but Liverpool's defence also did a good job limiting him to very little, imho. 😉

We'll see what Lukaku does to defences other than Arsenal. ;) If the other teams play him as well as Liverpool, that £97m could seem like a lot more money, as the £47m for Werner seems like a lot for what they are getting atm.

Regarding Manchester United's kit:

What a terrible day to have eyes.

Burnley 1-1 Leeds
Spurs 1-0 Watford
Wolves 0-1 Man Utd

A little bit of PL history was made today, the first goal in the Burnley game scored by Chris Wood was the 30,000th PL goal, it was scored in the second half and Bamford equalised for Leeds late on in quite a feisty game.

Son got the only goal of the game in the Spurs game, Kane started and played the the whole 90, Spurs now top the table and they are the only team to win three from three.

United were quite lucky to get the win, Wolves were really good and Adama Traore run us ragged at times, its a shame he lacks end product!, Wan Bissaka had a terrific goal line clearance and De Gea was forced into a fantastic double save, United had their customary bad first half then better second half performance, the goal came from a great strike from Greenwood, Varane was good on his debut.

Typical Man United win under Ole... just had the better players. This coaching staff only knows how to beat 2 teams - Leeds and Man City. So frustrating watching this team play. Ronaldo is not going to fix what I saw today.

The lack of balance in the team hasn't been fixed, Fred had another nightmare, Could be the last time we see James at United, he has been offered to clubs now Ronaldo is coming in.

I'll take a year's worth of car washes and a happy meal for Dan James. Throw in Fred for free if you buy today.

From what I've seen, people are complaining about Fred mostly and how Solskjaer didn't sub him off. Haven't seen the game, but if he is as bad as I've heard, United have 2 days to grab a new true CDM or atleast use someone else from their large squad to play in his place.

The Messi era at PSG is now under way, he made his debut tonight coming off the bench in a 2-0 over Reims, Mbappe got both goals in what could be his farewell appearance. It'll take some getting used to seeing Messi in a PSG shirt!

After the game Messi had his picture taken with the son of Reims keeper Rajkovic on the pitch.

Pundits have been quite vocal about that situation, calling the Reims GK unprofessional and claiming he shouldn't have done it, as it ruins the image of Ligue 1 as a top league.

Technically it is a Top 5 or Top 6 league, even though it's not that good nor competitive. If we think about it, there are/were only 3 top leagues in Europe and consequently in the world, EPL, La Liga and Serie A.
Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Eredivisie and Primeira Liga are second tier, and the french want to make Ligue 1 reach the same level as the top ones.

Daniel James to Leeds is pretty much a done deal, its a good move all round as James is going to a great club with a great manager and he'll fit right in there, its £25 million plus add-ons which is a great price for United considering we paid £15 million for him about two years ago, plus my other team Swansea had a sell-on fee in his United transfer so we get some money from the deal as well, win win! 👍

Ronaldo completed his United medical this morning and its just the visa to be sorted out, expected to be confirmed tomorrow.

Cavani has no issue giving Ronaldo the number 7 shirt, United have been in talks with the Premier League about changing the numbers. Cavani will likely get James's 21 shirt.

Please don't tease me! We're actually selling a player for a decent fee??

Double post I know but a few transfer bits before bed, Window shuts 11pm today.

PSG failed to respond to Real Madrid's second Mbappe bid, which means the deal is off, looks likely now that Mbappe will sign a pre-contract agreement with Real in January when he can talk to other clubs, he is in his final year of his current PSG deal and won't sign a new contract.

Willian has had his contract at Arsenal terminated and is now free to join Corinthians, he had two years left on a 240k a week deal and so has walked away from £20.5 million!! He is also set to take a 70% pay cut at his former club.

Crystal Palace close to sealing a move for Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard for around £15-20 million.
Spurs have made a bid for Barcelona right back Emerson Royal for £25 million.
Leicester in talks with Leipzig to sign winger Ademola Lookman.
Wolves are in talks with Lille to sign midfielder Renato Sanches on loan.

Wolves might end up with the best signing on deadline day if Sanches becomes a beast mode midfielder. Him with beast mode Traore? My god, Wolves will be a difficult match.

I think he can afford that pay cut. ;) I think Willian must be one of the most disappointing transfers of recent years. Chel$ki seemingly got rid at the perfect time.
