2021 F1 Driver ThreadFormula 1

I'm wondering if Haas knows how bad it looks keeping Mazepin but doesn't really care because of the money. Hopefully Schumacher can get out of there after 1 year (Ferrari doesn't seem to be a very worthwhile place to be these days).

Official confirmation expected tomorrow (Friday) according to a sudden avalanche of articles across the webs, Perez to race with Red Bull in 2021.

All of which use the words "set for" which once again just means "we're guessing in the hope that if it does get announced we were there first".

Why do you think I keep mentioning it?

Aaaaand Mazepin's deleted his apology too.

They're hoping that in 90 days everybody will have forgotten. They're probably right as far as the Twitting majority is concerned.

@MagpieRacer @Boedefeld

It is one thing to defend your point or criticise an opposing viewpoint, but personal attacks are not allowed. And all content that you post needs to abide by the rules you both agreed to when you signed up, so you need to remember that, irrespective of how strongly you may feel about the subject.

On a more general point, it's time for both of you to move on from this debate, so further posts directed at each other will be removed.

No problem my friend. Pushes my temper quite easily as someone who has seen the effects of this kind of thing first hand and has 2 young daughters. Pushes me fast.

I will move on.

Meanwhile at Red Bull, the world waits with baited breath, expecting an announcement today. I dont think it will come today and I'm almost certain it will be Perez when it comes.

Seems like the whole world knows it already Perez. Or should i say, "are awaiting perez" to take the seat.

He definitely deaerves a top seat. Im not his biggest fan but he's fast and consistent

Definitely trolling. Pretty sure a newspaper owned by Red Bull said it was done last night. They just need to announce it so we can move on

Yeah i don't know they feel like dragging it out is of any benefit

But where will Albon go? FE? WEC? Indy?

I reckon he'll stay part of the Red Bull F1 fold as reserve driver and just go round with the team. FE is full now I believe, again can't see him going to Indy at this stage.

Long shot could be F2, jump into a Carlin maybe or something and keep him race fit/sharp but that would be a long shot. Even longer shot, Super Formula, RB sent Gasly to Super Formula after he won the GP2/F2 title and RB had no seats in F1 for him at that time.

Perez at RB, now that's some good news for the day. Now there's a good reason to look forward to the 2021 season....solid drivers in cars that could be really competitive (Bottas not included ).... hopefully with that it won't just be Max pushing Mercedes and Lewis.

Ted Kravitz told us all on Sunday it'd be Checo.

Checo won't be better than Albon in the RedBull but he's a safe pair for Max to smash.

TBH I missed that one. And comes as a kind of surprise. Didn;t expect that Albon would do that. I guess it was this or out of F1?

Pretty much. I imagine he wants to hold off his destiny of rotting in Formula E as long as possible.

Great news for Checo!! But that said...

With Albon staying as a reserve. The Red Bull Junior Driver Programme strikes again!

^^ This. Red Bull's Mr. Career Destroyer does indeed strike again.
