Ran a few FP laps. 1:28.501. Slower than my previous 1:27.957.

Maybe lower power means less tyre wear( :lol: ). Whatever, man. Let's just have some fun racing.

That’s what I’m testing tonight in the Jag. I had been dropping pace around lap 10 prior to the BoP and hoping for better consistency. My FP time loss is slightly better than yours from a 1:28.0 to a 1:28.3 in actual, but I am seeing that .5 loss between my optimal times. I’m hoping for a slipstream buddy tomorrow. I know it’s likely an unpopular opinion, but I suspect PD have their reasons for doing the BoP after the start of the season, including taking into account how many players choose a given manufacturer. Perhaps they “play the odds” and try to balance out the likelihood that a given manufacturer wins the overall title, based on how many players choose the car and the relative pace of that car. Not saying it’s right, but offering an explanation.

I’m glad I’m not good enough to worry about it! My own pace is a bigger what any change in the cars would be...
 
I'm thinking it could be that, if a bigger amount of players (say 30% of players) choose like 5% of the makes, they could use that to know which ones the community has decided is best. Would be an odd way to do it, but technically could work

It seems very twisted but when you think about it, it works like that in many online games such as FPS where a weapon will get nerfed if it gets too popular (and successful)...

The (annoying) difference here is that you're stuck with the nerfed weapon for several months :rolleyes:

Anyway, good luck today everyone, this will be my first ever race in the Mustang, I'm not sure what to expect!

There is another, more hilariously strange possibility. Maybe they’re intending to BoP before every round to ensure better balance on every track?

Tonight is going to be a challenge in the Vantage (it already was pre BoP changes), but I hadn’t projected this as a strong round anyway so anything over 100pts will be a bonus.

Did another Custom Race. Can't call it. From 15tth Was doing 29s for the first 8 laps. Lap 7 was the FL. Messed up at the final esses and got a .500 penalty(set to weak). Braking too late at T1 saw the 31.8 and 32. 5 laps. If you run off on any lap, I don't think you're getting that time back. I mean, unless someone else runs off and you can catch up.
I guess all the 2WD and lightweight cars will be fine.

Same race as @05XR8. Idiots wanted to race in qualifying. Q18. The Vantage has no pace on this track for some reason.

Got a good run at the start, passed a stationary GTR at the s/f (good to his word). Tacked on to the back of the bunch down the back straight and then p19 decides to simply push my rear end around through BBB. Spin off track, race over. Limped home in 19th as another Vantage spun on about lap 9.

Good luck if you’re in the Aston, they finished 9th, 16th, 19th and 20th in that one.

I’m going to cool down and consider whether I try again in a later slot.

Well that race was basically horrible. People with orange bars skipping all over the track. Got a 1 second penalty for hitting someone off the track but no idea who that was meant to be as nobody moved off the racing line. Had started 10th but after the pen was in a group of fellow Aussies at the back all with orange bars. Someone else lagged into the back of someone smashing them off and i eventually got away from them to finish 14th. Was close to just quitting as it was a joke in the early laps with all the lagging cars. My 1 second penalty on lap 2 ended up losing 3 SR at the end if anyone is interested in whether the penalty system is back up and running. Would go for another try but don't want to risk it being all laggy again.

And I saw that escort the Cayman gave you. Grimey move to start the race.

Oh, to the GT-R users, the car is fine at this combo(looking at the replay again, my pace was all low 30s at the back). Easy handling and no dramas. Just have to be patient on corner exits. To add, that Huracan(started last) had good pace. Probably the MR layout with AWD helps.

Going to hopefully have my first go at an FIA race this evening. Had to start my CA account from scratch, as I don't fancy getting up at 3am or something stupid to race the Australian slots for my main account.
Watched the sportsmanship videos, signed on with BMW and jumped in a lobby not having any idea what the strategy was or how long tires would last. The room host started the Q and race shortly after I joined, so I guess I was working it out on the fly. About 4 laps in I realised I was about 2 laps short on fuel, so started austerity measures. Made it to the end OK, with about 14/18 laps in the 1'31.xxx range. That will probably hold up OK in the noob DR/E room I will be in, but I'd like to get this account to DR/B like my AU one. No idea where I'd sit in that crowd.
 
Folks, any of you complaining about BOP, should drive the Alfa Gr.4 :lol: I was the highest DR driver in my room, but qualified 2nd last. Even in draft I still got left behind on the backstraight. The only place where I can pull back the gap is in the double right hander near the end, but you can't pass there anyway because it's all single line (and they will just blast past you again on the next straight). So I had to wait till someone makes a mistake or get a penalty. Managed to drag myself up to 13th in the end, 2 seconds behind the 9-12th pack of cars. Would've been right in the mix if we didn't waste so much time battling.

Handling wise, this car goes from oversteer to understeer to all-kinds-of-steer that I never even knew could happen in a car :lol: The weight loss probably makes it worse than before because any use of tall kerbs now just sends it flying. You're just treading a razor thin margin every single lap. On your own it's ok, but with other cars around you when you need to keep changing your lines it just makes everything so inconsistent. It's tough, but I relish the challenge of adapting. Last season I was so scared of the NSX Gr.3 in the first race, but by the Tokyo race it finally clicked and I understand how to adapt my driving style. This is the same, just takes time that all :)

Keep pushing guys. Your car got nerfed by the new BOP? Take that as motivation to push that extra few tenths. You'll be a much better driver at the end of this season, trust me 👍

Its super sketchy IMHO and frankly pretty disrespectful to the player base.

Fully agree, its just disrespectfull. There were tons of data from prevoius seasons and several weeks between Exhibition season and now. If they needed more time then they estimated because they absolutely had to finish also the Group B - Bops in order to put the changes in 1 maintanence, then its even more stupid because there are no official races with Group B.

Oh, wait, there will be surely the elimination races in the live events with them... :crazy:
 
Well... I just didn’t have a good pace at all on this track with the jag, but with the help of slipstream I accidentally took the pole...

I knew it will be tough to hold the position without a good pace. After a few laps, I formed a looooooong queue from 1st all the way to 12-14th...

Luckily, the 2nd and 3rd place bump drafted me and we were able to pull away and fought at the last lap. And eventually I won the race lol

I guess this was the luckiest race I had this year and I’m so glad that I don’t have to join this race again lol

Gotta be honest when it comes to the BoP, the Gr.4 Lancer really needs some help.

Turbo powered cars don't get out dragged at the start of a straight by much, especially out of slow corners.

There was a number of times today where one of the Mustangs was able to pull alongside out of the hairpin. The reality is that, that shouldn't be happening.

Sure down the back straight the Mustang should be able to catch up to and potentially even drive past the Lancer, a 5 litre V8 should be able to run down a 2 litre turbo in a straight line.

But that's not what's happening, you have to hassle the Lancer to get everything out of it, lap after lap and hope you are error free or you get spanked far harder than some of the others.

And as others have mentioned, the Lancer isn't the only car hurting under the current BoP.
 
After two practice races I have my strategy sorted: Qualify high and stay glued to the bumper of the car in front.

You forgot to add. Be mistake free all race.

I managed part 1 of your strategy (6th), tried to stay with however was in front as best as possible (I'm in a Lancer). Finished 8th, ran as high as 4th but a few errors on my part cost me a couple of places as had the pace for a 5th tonight.
 
ive done a few practice races in the Aston, somehow there were no FF cars in the race. I know ive to look after my tyres. but does anyone know the point (roughly) of when the FF cars fall off the cliff? as im assuming they will
Driving relatively flat out in my 2nd race in the GT-R it was lap 15/16 or so where I really noticed a difference. I'm watching a race right now where a VW has just fallen off the back of the Aston it was fighting with on lap 11. I think he's using a controller though, looks a bit jerky and keeps flashing his lights when he turns.

no stop, some may require fuel saving... thats a shame for them :-D

I haven't driven a FF with tire wear in a while but I'm guessing L12 or so, depending on how well they save their tires.

I just finished a practice race in the Jag and just had to do the slightest of short-shifting to make it to through the end.
