Some things I learned practicing next weeks Manu that may help those struggling for lap times.

Presently I'm in the Supra FP record 53.4x optimum 53.0 but haven't pieced it together.

My pace picked up dramatically not trying to carry so much speed through the corners and a little negative BB due to this track being heavy on trail braking.

Considering the width of the track and it seems swoopy I was pushing too hard but found exit speed much more important as always

Sector 1. Be sure to nail the first 5 apexes. You have to slow down more than you think for T2. Doing this allows you to really set up T3 using good throttle control in the stretch towards big banky boy.

Sector 2. The curves leading up to the bank are worth +.2 if you lift a touch and keep a tight line towards the bank. Make sure you can get on the throttle hard right after the bank apex to gain more up the hill.

Sector 3 is all about trail braking and throttle. If you have to think about when to turn in your too late. Slow down a bit and turn in earlier.

Sector 4.
The blind left is a bastard. It's better to brake a bit early. Find a spot on the rumble strip for a turn in point as you release a bit of brake. Trail brake until you almost hit the apex and exit.

A little lift on the following right will set you better for the last 2 turns. Try to maintain at least 45 mph through the left and keep it tight. Blip the throttle a touch and make sure to hit the last apex to accelerate clean.

As with all the corners this track benefits the most from good throttle control and the ability to feather it through all the esses.

One of the biggest things I've learned over the past month is pushing too hard. It's not about the speed we carry. It's about how fast we can make the inputs required to make clean corners and exit hard within the braking zone.

A good excersize to train is turning up the FFB on your wheel so your forced to use better throttle and brake control. You really start to get a sense of how much less steering input you need if your entry speed is correct.

Hope this helps. Yay for sharing tips!

Thanks! and agree with you: slower is actually faster. The later i brake the slower i seem to be...
(still suck at this track though....)

Considering I'm only 6 months into this game it takes me a lot of practice to learn tracks. I'm getting better but man, the top guys are blistering fast. I dont know if Ihave the reaction time to be that level so I work towards solid consistency.

My best rule of thumb lately is backing up my braking points if I can't get on the throttle right at the apex. It's tough considering we tend to brake later in fear of getting punted in lesser experienced lobbies and it becomes habit.

Once I started getting in higher DR lobbies and Q top 5 it's nice to run with drivers using better points although I still push too hard in traffic.

Oh yeah. Another thing that has helped me a lot is working on vision. Eye on the apex as soon as I start to brake has really helped in speed judgement as I turn in and the ability to correct if needed.

The two cars I've seem to locked onto are the Mustang and GTR, just seem more stable on the jumps. Not the best at rotation, though.

Hoping for mass carnage tomorrow and a lot of luck. If I can pull a top 8, itll be a miracle.

Oh, and I was stuck on a high 3:09 and @Mistah_MCA 's track guide got me to a 3:07. Preciate you MCA! So, give it a look if you haven't.

Pretty fun race at Fisherman. Was expecting demo derby but had a really clean 3 way battle throughout the whole race. It was a "top split" room but we had everyone from 100k DR to sub 50k, so the time gaps were measured in days, not seconds  I was doing 3:11s in free air, quali 7th, finished 8th. 200 points so pretty happy.

Doing Circuit Experience helped me to relearn the track, and then testing each car to find out which one handles most comfortable for me. Lancer and WRX were the top 2. Surprisingly Mustang is pretty good around here, on par with 86 in second group. Both lacks the pace of the top 2 but handles the jumps much more stably. The rest were a bit slower, with Audi bringing up the rear as usual despite having a 100kg weight advantage. Torque split 50:50, BB -1, ABS Weak. Remember slow in fast out and late apex is your friend. The jump on the backstretch is killer if you get it wrong, so in the race it's best to just lift slightly before. You lose a few tenths but better than eating the wall and being a beyblade.

Like most others, I actually find the race to be fun even if it was over a year since I took on a FIA race. Qualified 4th with a time of 3:10:5xx with the leader being 7 seconds ahead. Despite this, there were racing between my position and 3rd place. A few bumps came along but nothing major happened. Finished at the same 4th position with 236 points earned. I was expecting the race to be one of the worst, but it was actually challenging for once.
full

It even gave me a hu- Huh, it seems that there were no points added after all. Consider this race to be nonexistent.

Bit off topic but we at Race Asylum are doing a re-run of last wednesday's FIA race at BMB. For those who care to join or have pledged to win one (@xxPinkyKissxx @GTWolverine) you're welcome to join. Please send a friend request to RA-A_Seth_Logan since I'm organising this from the Alt Acc. Start time is 21:30 today GMT.

The invite:

"I've had so much fun at the last FIA oval race, I'd like to repeat it this saturday 21:30 GMT with anyone who wants to join. This race in many ways is perfect cause even lower ranked drivers can win. Settings would be the same as FIA. We'll do three races, roughly 25 minutes each. You can choose from McLaren, NSX, Citroën, Corvette, Viper or Mercedes. Any of those cars will do, but you can't choose the same car twice."

Shout out to @OJBrit @Tigerhawk87 @MCL1974 maybe you care to join?

@Seth_Logan Appreciate the shout-out mate but won't be able to join. I'll be gorging on pints this evening. Sounds like a great idea though. Would love to have tried this in one of the more competitive cars!

Thanks for the invite! I should be able to make that since I'm not doing Nation's today. I'll send the friend request shortly.

Please say they haven't broken something. I just got my personal best score from a race and it doesn't seem to have registered. Nobody's scores are showing from round 5 in my friends list either... :scared:

Jumped in the first slot for this after a few laps practice did manage to get somewhat familiar with the track at least enough to pinpoint where the major turns / sections are.

Qualified 8th, pretty satisfied, unfortunately started next to a frenchman with 1 bar connection - as an aside, I really think if you're connection strength is going to affect other players, you shouldn't be able to join online lobbies but that's for another day - as it is, he caused havoc for myself and the 2/3 cars around me and the first objective was to get past him and create some distance which I was thankfully able to do pretty quickly. It had sadly meant a front 6 had broken away from us, so I spent the remainder of the race running comfortably alone in 7th which turned out to be pretty ideal for this kind of race (I find it hard enough already).

I did catch up to the leading pack going into the last lap, and came up on a russian seemingly riding the walls? I didn't think this would be a valid tactic here? But there you go. He was far too erratic to overtake, cutting right across the track whenever I got into radar range. So 7th it is, and I'll take it. It's a nice change and lovely scenery, but the unpredictability of off-road driving is not fun enough for me to come back to, even if I could possibly snatch another couple of positions. I'll settle.

@MidnightRun85 livery on the Toyota if I'm not mistaken

Best time in FP: 3:11. Qualifying was bad with a low 3:15. Best time in race: the 1 lap I was alone doing a 3:16.

Average lap: approximately 3:30 from pinballing and barging off-line from the guys doing 3:08s who decided to start from the back, and hitting people unghosting at the top of the track. Waste of time tbh and like Spa, every other lobby will be the same, so I'll take the full DR hit from finishing well over a minute behind the leader.

Yep, same issue, seems like they turned off too many things for this round. No DR/SR change either !

It never shows before all the races are over in all the region's.

@sturk0167 said "Maybe it's because of daylight savings time."
It is. The rest of the world changed it either one or two weeks ago.

Unless they've recently changed how their system works, that's not how I've known it.

I've always been able to see the pending points I earned for a round and those for the people on my friends list immediately in the season stats after each race completes, even when it's the first slot. I've only ever had to wait for the overnight calculations to see the points for people I'm not friends with and to see the changes to the overall rankings when the results get locked in.

Thanks for the invite.
I am around 200 miles from my PS4 so unable to join.

OK. I can never see my points after a race until the others are done. I have no idea if it's a setting. I am talking about in game, do you look elsewhere?

@Geauxgreddy @crusselz & @Dave_H_87 if you want to join, still a few spots open. We are looking at 9-13 drivers so far. Not counting RA's who sneak in at the last moment. @Geauxgreddy if you could stream also, that would be awesome. Of course I'd share the link in discord

From within the game. Very weird! As long as it counts it tonight, I won't complain. :P

---

As for my race... it went so much better than I'd hoped for. I managed to really find the rhythm for Fisherman's Ranch in the Genesis (I'm team Hyundai all the way this season apparently ) right before entry opened, getting my free practice time down from a low 3:11 to a high 3:09 and it then stuck during the race.

My qualifying was a little scruffy as I botched the high speed chicane section at the start of sector 4 but it was still good enough for a 3:14.065 and P5, jumping ahead of a tight group of times.

Lap 1 was a bit worrying. I managed to drop P6 quite quickly but it didn't last. P3 (a Portuguese driver in a Subaru) was losing a lot of pace to me and P4 (a Brit in a Mitsubishi) through sector 3 forcing us to take awkward lines trying to pass/avoid contact. I went very, very deep through the hairpins and the Mitsubishi behind took advantage and slipped past. However... I then absolutely annihilated it on the run up to the sector banner. I honestly wonder how many people were unaware the BOP was off and were running with stock power and weight because I seriously doubt I got that much of a better exit from the long left-hander. (Thanks @Mistah_MCA for mentioning the unlocked BOP in your video BTW, I'd potentially have not noticed otherwise!)

On lap 2, the Subaru went very deep and the Mitsubishi snuck past in the middle of sector 2, then I had a slight dice with death sneaking up the inside at the sector's final right-hander. From there on it was a close fight between me and the Brit all the way up until the start of sector 3 of lap 5 where he/she went very deep on the wide hairpin and I snuck past.

End result was P3 and 202 points - my first ever score above 200. 🥳 I've come close to it a few times lately and was wondering if I would manage to tip over the edge before GT7. I still remember my first score over 100 and thinking I'd never even come close to 200 so I am very, VERY happy. Now here's hoping the game actually registers it...
