Slot 1, qualified 3rd, pit on lap 15, changed tires, finished 2nd. Only one lap away from catching the leader...I got in their slipstream right after the final corner. They changed tires too, but on lap 14.

The AMG was strong today. One of my best races of the season, scoring 285 points!......aaand naturally, I forgot to save the replay for recording. :banghead: I ain't going again.

Standing at 1267 points in the season.

My health is burdening me...I get anxiety when I'm competing under pressure like this. My body heat rises as a result, by up to a whole °C, and my hands start shaking. I know I could do even better if only I found some way to relax...might have to talk to a doctor.

Another one-and-done. This round is one hell of a warzone!

I had some confidence going into this as my FP best was a 38:435 which I managed to marginally improve to a 38:429 during the signup period. Qualifying went well, picking up pole position early with a 38:493 but I eventually got knocked down to P3. I was still at the right end of the grid though so all looking good.

When the race started though, that was nothing like the practice lobbies I've been in. So much aggression on all sides. I was massively outgunned off the line by a Nissan and a Mazda, with a second Nissan pushing up the inside in the turn 1 melee. The Mazda was especially aggressive and got called out for being dirty at the end as he/she would divebomb at any opportunity from what I saw later. The Nissans and Mazda were practically 3 wide through sector 3, complete chaos. Trying to take avoiding action coming out of the sector 3 chicane almost spun me, allowing a Ferrari and Mercedes to get past me on the start/finish straight and dropping me back down to P8. Not a good first lap at all.

My tune setup seems very good through turn 1 so I managed to get back up the inside of the Mercedes and go 2-wide with it through sector 2. It might have been a good thing that I had fallen back because the Mazda went very wide onto the grass and then attempted to go flying into the hairpin on dirty tyres as though the other cars simply weren't there.

On lap 3, I got past the Mazda after it made another mistake at the sector 2 chicane and then attempted to close the door on the Nissan that went up the inside line. By this point I'm seriously thinking this Mazda is a major risk and I need to get away from it ASAP. I manage to sneak past it on the hairpin as it struggled to turn in on dirty tyres.

Fast forward to lap 4, and the Mazda goes a bit wide at the sector 2 chicane (couldn't tell if it went off from just the radar though) before proceeding to divebomb me at the hairpin. I then throw it up the inside at turn 1 of lap 5 and get back in front, and the Mazda makes another mistake through sector 2 and falls back. Finally clear! I swear turn 1 was my saviour the whole way through this race. I just seemed to be so much faster than the people I was in direct competition with there almost every single lap.

Now I'm looking at one of the Nissans that beat me off the line. I'm still barely in slipstream range and a good turn 1 sees me rapidly reeling it back in. He/she goes slightly onto the grass coming out of the chicane and I go for a move up the inside but don't manage to park it on the apex and the Nissan gets the switchback with a little bit of contact. Fighting with it slows me right down though, and I end up cutting the sector 3 chicane for a track limits penalty trying to stay out of the way when I see the Mazda closing right back in. :ouch: (Edit - Watching the replay back, the Mazda caused my penalty by pushing me to pass!)

Serving the penalty dropped me back down to P7 after I had to back off because the Mazda and I made contact at the hairpin and I think I'd have caused it to spin if I kept my foot down. I eventually managed to make my way back and go up the inside of the Mazda on turn 1 of lap 13, but it then decided to go full Max Verstappen at the hairpin...

I decided I'd had enough and went for an undercut. It worked out perfectly as I emerged in clean air and swept past the Mazda again heading into turn 1 on lap 16. Now the fight back was on! The start of lap 19 was beautiful. A Renault was going ultra defensive into turn 1 against one of the Nissans that jumped me at the start. They make contact, the Nissan pushes the Renault wide and I slide up the inside to swipe both positions.

The other Nissan was only a few tenths ahead of that as well so I kept pushing and again sent it up the inside of turn 1 on lap 21. Up to P4 but the Subaru in P3 was over 8 seconds clear. However... it hadn't gone into the pits and only took the mandatory pit stop at the start of the final lap. I wasn't aware of this so I was watching the the delta come rocketing down (and then stormed past very near the end when it served a 1s track limits penalty).

Seeing the winner's time, I could have been fighting for the win if not for the carnage at the start but there was no way I was going to avoid it with the raw difference in launch speeds.

End result was P3 for 211 points. New personal best and up to 48K DR. 🥳

Missed Catalunya due to a family commitment and not too disappointed about it, a track I actually like but I am certainly below average at generally so my guess I would have been underwhelmed by my performance as usual!

This is a fun one to return to. Doesn't take much practice and is pretty good for the Corvette, that smooth turning action perfect for the long right hander and it's very easy to get into a line here and build a consistent pace.

Saying that, 1st run I qualified 7th, managed to get a jump off the start into 3rd but the pushing and shoving which followed got the better of me and span me round. By the time the race settled down I was in 11th and finished there a little disappointed, I was only going to do one run due to some other commitments today but felt I really had more to give to this event.

2nd run I improved slightly, up to 6th in qualy, and again got the jump from the start putting me into 2nd and this time thankfully a second or so ahead of the pack behind who would help me increase that with their fighting, the perfect start. 1st was off, though, fair play to the Greek I think in an Aston, putting a regular half second a lap on me to finish miles ahead of myself and the Italian in a Lambo who made his way past me over the course of the race. I don't know where he started but he definitely had the pace to win as well, if I was him I would have gone again.

Pitted very very late, around lap 25 when I was finally knocked off my rhythm going slightly wide into the hairpin, it's so easy to build a groove I really didn't think about the tires up until that point. Did put a fresh pair on, time was available for that and it meant coming back out I didn't see any challenges for my 3rd place as I made good time on the pack behind. 3rd I will happily take, fun combo for a longer race, good luck to those still yet to run.

Good luck to those racing tomorrow at Miyabi. I'm not entering. Really don't like the track and really can't be bothered with the hassle of another tuning race! So my season is likely finished as its unlikely i'll get time for the last race Xmas day. (6pm slot probably only viable option if i do!).

Its a Hard tire no stop sprint race at Sardegna for those that will race it!

:gtpflag:
Nah... McLaren G3, Hard & sprint on Christmas day... I'm good thanks.

Wasn't expecting anything for today's race. Just wanted a fifth score to be honest. I had done some TT and was flying in my tuned McLaren, but I had experienced that this doesn't mean anything in the race.

Door #19 so expectations really went out the window. Started qualifying in my qualifying tune and somehow managed a Q2.
Then goofed up the start and together with my hand break took my foot of the gas as well (I was nervous 'cause I hadn't done anything between monday and today). That was unfortunate because I had another tune for the race that increased acceleration of the line at the cost of top speed. Luckily I had a Toyota 86 behind me and they are very slow of the line in factory settings.

All in all lost a spot from that mistake and P1 who was bundling in the first few laps got his stuff together and started reeling me in after my pitstop (should not have changed tyres). Turn 27 I let him past and that was basically the race.

P4 not bad, not bad at all. I think without tyre change and better concentration from the start I think I could have been P3, maybe even fighting for P2. But this is good. Still slowly but surely on my way to the top of B.

I believe part II of this season we can't change our manu. If that is the case I'm going to try and drive all GR4 races and a GR3 tuning race if available. I do like the tuning, but think it creates too big differences in the quality of it.

@MCL1974 thanks for the encouragement. You have become a fast driver in this season with consistantly faster times than mine. Maybe the Jaaag suits your driving style?

I missed slot one due to being in free practice instead of signing up... DOH!

Anyway, slot 2 rolls around and I actually join it this time. My best time in free practice was a 38.406 - slightly annoyed that I couldn't get in to the .3s but hey, it's a very competitive time so I go in mildly confident.

Qualy rolls around and it's a bit manic with the sheer number of cars on such a small circuit but I do find some clean air and put in a time good enough for P2 - just a hairs width from a Ferrari in P1.

The race comes and we get away cleanly. My "favourite" combination of dirty air and cold tyres makes it a slippery affair trying to stay with P1 and it doesn'y pay off as a slight back-end slip coming out of the final chicane lost me all momentum down the back straight, giving P3 and P4 the chance to pass. Over the next bunch of laps P1, in clean air, just drives a practice race and vanishes, nowhere to be seen and P2, 3, and myself just carry on fighting.
At this point I know I am faster than them (lap times are about 0.5s slower than I can do) but thre's not enough of a difference to pass on track without a mistake, so I go for the undercut on lap 13. The undercut didn't work out as I came out behind P13-18 in a massive 2 and 3-way fight around T1 which holds me up. P4 pits and comes out and takes the T1 apex as we all all approaching rapidly; this forces a few of the cars wide and I get in the slip of P4 on the apex. Coming towards T2 I came up aside P17 who either didn't notice me, or didn't care and proceeded to move over rather rapidly, bumping me on to the grass and around to P19. The rest of the race was damage limitation and I finished 10th.

Not happy with that I decided to go again. Same story in qualy - I was pipped to pole by a Ferrari who went a few hundreths faster. There was a 2 tenths gap between me in P2 and an Aston in P3.
At the start of the race I bog down off the line and the Aston gets a run on me, I get a better line out of T1, but his grunt makes us side-by-side down T2 giving me a compromised line which I have to back out of going down to P3. Lap 2 was rather uneventful except a dive-bomb from a Dodge in T1, but Lap 3 was interesting. We get to the back hairpin and I brake and start to turn. I am ready to start accelerating when from 3 miles back I get used as a brake for the bend. This pushed me well wide and off-skew only for another 2 cars to use me as a great way to not go wide. Without the momentum I get pushed wide through the last turn before the car finally gives up and spins. P20. I spend the rest of the race just playing catch up before getting stuck behind a Porsche in P13 for 8 laps who was forcing me to go 0.5-1.2s a lap slower than my regular pace, moving under braking to stop me passing parking it slow on the apex before I finally got a decent run to go around the outside of T1, but the damage was done. Too far away to make any more moves and I finish P13.

I'm starting to get kinda fed up with "no consequence" racing. Please Polyphony for the love of god introduce the iRacing penalty point system.

I hate people

Jaguar - 10th for 113 points.

First few attempts at this all ended in me getting absolutely binned so little choice but to go in the last slot

Qualified P3. Stinker of a first lap, down to 8th but had intended to pit regardless. Came out with plenty of free air in front. Put in some good laps, consistently getting purple sectors in sectors 1 and 2 right until the end. As someone else mentioned, the Jaguar in section 3 is horrible. Felt like driving a bus. Was on course for a top 4 finish until someone "accidentally" pit manoeuvred me, but was able to get a top 10. Very annoyed.

Ps - anyone got any tips on how to not turn in a slide into a catastrophe using a wheel? Still getting used to it but crashed very seldom using a controller.

On Wednesday, I had finished in 8th place at the Nations Cup race with 40 points. My points total there stood a 135. Today, I had finished in 5th place in the Manufacturers Series with 92 points. It was the highest amount of points I had scored in any round I entered this year. As a result, my points total in this series now stood at 270.

2021 Manufacturers Series - Season 2 - Round 9
KYOTO DRIVING PARK - MIYABI // Gr.4

Hopped in my Porsche, wrenched a tune shared with me by a friend, and practiced for about 20 minutes before entering.

Qualified 15th, having adjusted the settings just a bit at the last minute. Car plowed through the first turn worse than before, but there was no time to deal with further tinkering.

Did get pinched at the chicane on the first lap by someone being stupid, of course, but netted out where I started when it spilled into the front straight and others went into the ether as I drove through.

Raced up to top 10, cleared the piranha pit behind me who then pitted, and decided that soft front end was giving me good enough tire wear that I'd stay out in the clear air (not a car in sight) while running 3rd or so, as my lap times were 0.2 - 0.4 sec faster when not defending, and I could manage the tire wear at the same time. So committed to the no-change pit stop, and hoped that the combination of those faster clear laps and 2 seconds to not change the tires allowed me to keep positions I'd gained since the start.

I think it worked, because I came out ahead of a threesome that were fighting wildly with each other.

Was only able to hold off one of them, but came home 11th, gaining 4 spots and earning a clean race. No big deal, but was good enough to improve my 5th best score by 7 points, so I'll take it. Race isn't fun enough to run it again, even if I wasn't committed to one-and-dones again this season. But I won't run it on the alt, either... I find myself getting dizzy after the repetitive oval laps and as many as there are.

#11 / Q15 / R11 / 123 FIA points / ~(-100) DR and on to Sardegna (maybe... it's Christmas next week!)

After missing some races, back to the championships. The nations one at Barcelona was good. First race was a mess, got punted two times on purpose and I only got solid points because of huge amount of rage quits. Only half of the players finished the race. Race two was way more enjoyable, despite featuring 40 less points. Fought for the win but lost the pace in last laps. Finished 2nd only because the guy ahead of me got a penalty. Nice to drive that 08 GTR.

Now that Manu race. Man, what a race. Knowing Subaru would be strong here, I put some effort in practice and used the M4 setup from @Mistah_MCA video. Went in slot 2, door 3, most of players B like myself and two A players. Made the pole in my second to last lap, only a few miliseconds ahead of 2nd place. In the race, I got a really good start and I was 1s ahead of everyone, lucky to break the slipstream very soon. Then, it was a control race, I kept a 4s gap to 2nd place until the finish line. My 28th victory and the 5th one in FIA races. Also, I got back to A earning almost 4k DR points. No more FIA races for tonight.

Came home yesterday and tried my Aston at Miyabi. It was awful. All it did was push, so I spent time tuning, trying to get the front to stick. Finally got a tune that seemed pretty fast, though a bit nervous. Managed a 38.6 with it. Opened a lobby to test tires, and with a full tank, it was a tank! I ended up playing with things to get rid of the push that I thought was gone. Final tune felt ok, but tail happy. Tough to drive out of the hairpin, but good in T1 on fresh tires.
Entered slot 2 and banked a 39.2 with traffic first lap of Q. Slowed after L2 to get a gap and got a 38.8 for a P2 start. knew the lead would be mine with the inside in T1, and it was, for 3 laps. Long story short, , the push came back with wear. Pitted for tires L15 and held for P3 and 158 points. That's 4 FIA podiums in a row.

2021 FIA Nations Exhibitions - Round 9
Yamigawa + Miyabi - Group 4
Tuning Allowed

Slot 1
- Finally get out of the cursed 1st split! 2nd split and I have @GTWolverine in my lobby! I'm door 14, so a good lobby to try and land a podium because the GReddy tune is pretty tight. However, I struggle in the breaking zone during qualy, just had the yips. End up qualifying 4th. Booooo. But, thats ok, we know how crazy this race can be and my gearing for the launch is...spot on.

I launch, great start, but the Mitsubishi is just a rocket ship and puts himself between me and p1. Next thing I know I have a viper up the inside settle into p3. But, then tragedy strikes as the rocket ship can't stay on track and completely messes up my hairpin, two laps in a row. Both laps he runs me wide exiting the chicane. :guilty:

So, I lose 4 positions and now I'm behind a large group. Fall in behind Tsbap who is behind @GTWolverine. @GTWolverine misses his brake point allowing p5 to his inside. Now, @GTWolverine being the clean racer he is, lets p5 go since he made the mistake. But, instead of lifting, he hits the brakes in the chicane and I absolutely smoke him from behind because I have it pinned and was not expecting it.

So, don't completely murder him, but we both lose another position and I spend the rest of the race trying my tail off the get to the podium. Didn't quite make it. 257 points, my 2nd best haul. Honestly could've had p2 or even p1 had the Mitsu not been a rocket on the start. Just cost me too much.

One and done.

Should've been a 1-and-done, but...

Slot 1: In with @Geauxgreddy and @F1Bernardo for 2nd split, and when the room finally loads @F1Bernardo and 6 others all disconnect, leaving only 13 racers. At least this means less traffic in qualifying. I qualified P6 after waiting until the last possible moment to set a kinda decent lap time. I did a 38.59 when I should've been in the low 38.5s or high 38.4s. After some shenanigans in front of me, I managed to move up a place to P5, only to forget how to navigate the hairpin and lose the spot, then make it even worse by trying to fight it through the chicane instead of just yielding. At the last second I realized just how much of a dumb🤬 I was being and tried to back out of going side-by-side through the chicane, but it wasn't enough and I still messed it up for myself and everyone around me. It cost me 3 spots and a heap of time (as seen in @Geauxgreddy's highlights). It took me another couple laps to get by the much slower Corvette for P7 and by then everyone in front of me was way up the road. After the pit stops I slowly caught 6th place, but ran out of laps after almost getting in his slipstream range, so I finished 7th, 1 spot down from where I started, for what was supposed to be 232 points. Since almost half the grid got disconnected, I ended up losing 4 points and ultimately got 228.

This was enough to improve on my lowest score by 11 points, but knowing I could've had 6th or better if I'd just not been an idiot earlier in the race, I decided I was going again.

Slot 2: In with @F1Bernardo again, but this time in Top Split, so @kevinddr was also here, and once again several people got disconnected so we started qualifying with only 16 people. Then everyone got pit glitched and another person quickly got disconnected, which fixed the pit glitch and the remaining 15 of us were able to qualify, with me ultimately getting 12, and @F1Bernardo just squeaking past me by a few thousandths into P11. I spent most of the race running where I started until the final couple of laps, when one of the front runners who didn't take tires began to back up the 5 cars in front of me. Several mishaps from people even further ahead stacked the group up even more, and before I knew it I was part of a pack of 7 cars and inside the Top 10 starting the final lap. Unfortunately I once again forgot how to drive and missed every single apex and gave up the 2 spots I'd easily gained, plus an extra one to @F1Bernardo, and I came home a very frustrating 13th for 194 points, which wouldn't change my overall score.

Slot 3: Top Split once again, but with a massive DR spread so it was once again @F1Bernardo, @kevinddr, and me, plus @csmirnoff too. Once again me and @F1Bernardo qualified right next to each other, in 8th and 9th respectively. After briefly moving up to 7th, I lost the spot to an NSX who qualified behind me but seemed to have better race pace. @F1Bernardo then got on to my rear bumper and elected to pit early to undercut me. I knew he was so close when he pitted that pitting the next lap wouldn't have allowed me to stay ahead, so I decided to run my original strategy and pit on either Lap 13 or 14. I chose 13 and emerged JUST behind @F1Bernardo, and we both caught a much slower Evo at the end of the lap. Fortunately he didn't hold us up too much and I was able to push both of us past the Evo down the front straight. Shortly afterwards I decided to go for the overtake on @F1Bernardo in T1 as well to move into P9. Now at the front of the field were 2 cars who hadn't pitted: the NSX from earlier, and an Aston in 2nd who had quickly gained on me before I pitted. I quickly realized they were both going to go to the end of the race and do a stop-go, so I focused on just using my fresher tires to chip away at the gap and hope to be able to get it under 15s before they pitted. Fortunately I actually managed to not drive like an idiot this time and I moved up to 7th when they pitted, then gained another spot when someone else pitted late in the race, and I finished p6 with @F1Bernardo in my slipstream in 7th. The 251 points were finally good enough to call it a night (and it also means 4 of my 5 counted scores are over 250 points!)

First time at Miyabi and first time with my own tune. Jag didn't seem great here but pace seemed relatively decent (38.6 PB).

Americas Slot 2, door #14 on a 280-point 2nd split lobby. Qualified P16, got pushed wide in T1, a guy just went flat and used the cars on the outside to slow down. Then was almost spun by a guy from Paraguay, just managed to avoid spinning but was down to 19th. Recovered to P15 at the finish. Decided to make a few changes to my tune and go again.

Americas Slot 3, door #19 in a 317-point top split, sharing lobby with @GTWolverine and @F1Bernardo. Qualified P15, 2 tenths off the fellow GTP members but quite a few positions behind. Was looking forward to seeing if I could get closer to them in the race, but I was pit manouvred by an American turning right into the chicane's left hander. :banghead: 18 secs off after lap 1. Fuming. Completely lost focus and went off track the following lap, decided to park in the pits...

Americas Slot 4, door #17 in a slightly lower rated 285-point top split lobby. Worst qualy time of the day, qualified P13, could have been top 8 with a better lap.

Good start, inmediately up to P10 off the line. Then everyone bunched up and I was pushed a bit wide, down to P11. Then gained a few places due to others making mistakes and made a good move into the hairpin up to P8. An American started getting a bit closer, he was half a tenth quicker a lap.

We both pitted at the end of lap 15, and he exited ahead of me as he didn't change his tyres. I started putting pressure on him and was able to overtake when he went wide to the grass in the mid-sector chicane. After everyone pitted, I was up to 7th. With no way to catch the guys ahead and increasing the gap behind, I was on my own until the end. P7 at the end, very satisfied with 214 points after two frustrating previous slots.

Ran one later, on the alt, with a friend. 35k DR, so not a seal-clubbing exercise.

Had a great shootout for pole position in the Ferrari. Started first, and built up a 2 sec lead.

Messed up once on my own, but reclaimed the 'lead' by running clean laps and not changing tires, after the other Ferrari had pitted and was stuck in traffic.

Then with 5 laps to go, 2 sec clear of the other guy who had already pitted and being myself in a position to win the race, some idiot who didn't know the pitstop rule took me off at the fast chicane, ran me wide ON ENTRY... ruining my race. Ended up 6th and saw that he did the SAME THING to the other legit potential winner in this race.

I was going to enjoy a nice flex by pulling aside at the finish from first, and let the field pass me (to lower my DR to match my friend who I like to race with for fun) anyway, but DAMMIT that's why I'm glad I have an alt. Even got some sympathy comments from others in the lobby that saw it go down.

Otherwise, really proud of myself for what should have amounted to a runaway win in a decent lobby.

Used a slightly modified version of a tune by Kie, which was pretty phenomenal for me, after I softened up the rear just a bit.

Fun night of racing, capped off with some dailies with said friend, at Race B and C.

Like a lot of others, I wasn't expecting much from this one, but chaos. First, I'm not too familiar with tuning races and 20 cars around Miyabi in a FIA event is a sign of trouble right from the start. Add to this, people seem to get better and better the more the season goes. (Or am I just struggling to keep up?)

Also, the beginning of winter hits hard for someone who works outside all day... I was exhausted this last week, and couldn't practice as much as I'd wanted to. I was fortunate to drive the 86 though, a car that really fits this type of circuit. It had decent practice times without any tuning, so I had a little hope for tonight.

With the help of a friend and a whole lot of trial and error, I finally found a setup that I was (kinda) comfortable with. However, I still didn't know what to expect in race; last week they put me in a lobby with A+ drivers and lemme tell you, it was a rough one... 😮 Hoping for a closer match tonight.

Best practice time was 38.8 s.

Round 9 FIA Manu @ Miyabi - Slot#1 of the Americas region, we are now onboard with AstroVex:

Car kept sliding around more than I wanted to during quali, which led to a time of 39.1 seconds, good for the 11th place on the grid start. Meh... - A perfect lap would've gained me a few positions but nowhere near the top drivers and their 38.5's and under. Gonna have to deal with it. On a positive note, there were a few familiar faces along with me on the track. Always a plus 🌞 Shout out @KosmoKazi and the others!

Lights go green, and here we go! As predicted by the experts, mayhem occurred within the first minute of the race. Around 7 or 8 cars were involved in the crash, and I got to be one of those that made it through without a scratch! Went from 11th to 4th in a matter of seconds. Hell yeah! (I got really, really lucky) Found myself behind an Alfa Romeo, and was able to catch slipstream for a few laps in order to escape the pack of unlucky racers behind. Pitted at the end of lap 14, and everything went smooth from there. All laps were in the 39's and 40's, just like in practice. 🌞 I lost a position around lap 25,but that McLaren was simply faster and I played it safe.

Ended in 5th place, with a huge smile on my face. Hadn't raced that great since Maggiore I believe. Here goes 170+ points that will count towards my final score. Yay!
Thanks to all, it was a fun experience in the end. Now time to prepare for the lasts rounds. Good luck to all and stay safe! - AstroVex

Well done! I recognise most of the names in that lobby so pretty sure I would have been in there if I had entered. Avoided having you kick my arse haha ;)

How awesome of you to describe my race as well LOL.
Yes, we had exactly the same race, except I was between 0.3s and 0.75s behind him the whole time. Very fun race indeed!

Here’s what it looked like from my POV (replay, cause I’m a dumbass and forgot to record it live)

Just confirmed that the Jag wasn't very good at Miyabi by looking at yesterday's results and finding out that I actually scored Jaguar's Manufacturer ranking points for this round in Americas. 9 manufacturer points, unfortunately not a counting round for Jaguar, but still, I think it's the first time I make it to that list.

Had a look at EMEA and Asia/Oceania and actually, my 214 points were the top Jaguar score across all regions...

Dudes,

Kie kept talking about “inverted gearing” in his streams yesterday. What is it??
An inverted gearing is basically flipping the gear box:

"A gear box flip is by resetting the gearbox, putting the final drive the the right and putting max speed to the left. Put 1st to the left and put the last gear to the right, evenly space the gears"

You can get crazy results both in a good and a bad way that way

Dredge’s Alt Adventures: Episode 13

NA slot 3 starting at 21829/99. Door 6. Did a 15 minute tuning session and got the WRX to a 38.7xx. Not perfect, but ok. Compared to the Cayman the understeer was frustrating.

Qualifying was quite good. People weee generally respectful and tried to stay out of the way of quicker cars. Unfortunately I did accidentally punt someone who braked in front of me half way through the esses, but with the chance to do so many laps it wasn’t a big issue. Ran a 38.8xx which was good enough for Q2 with a Slophy Q1.

At race start the WRX came into its own and I was over half a second clear by the end of lap 1. The Slophy was VERY good through T1 and by lap 3 he was right on my rear bumper. Lap 4 he got up the inside on T1 and I yielded to P2. From there it was a frustrating race watching the gap to the Slophy increase by about 0.2s per lap with no way to stop the bleeding.

Pitted lap 16 and took new tyres in the hope that I might claw back some of the gap. Alas, the WRX’s understeer just wouldn’t match the Renault and my Canadian brought home p2. 105 points and 23087/99.

Still not following 😂
Basically, it's a glitch which allows you to have super short gears or super long gears. Moving the Max Speed setting resets the gears, but not the ratios, allowing you to get crazy results.

Move the Final Gear all the way down, then move the Max Speed all the way down, then move the Final Gear all the way up, and you'll have crazy short gears. Do the opposite for crazy long gears.

Dudes,

Kie kept talking about “inverted gearing” in his streams yesterday. What is it??
Basically, it's a way of manipulating the gear ratio range beyond the "normal" values. The result is you get long 1st/2nd gear (to reduce wheelspin from low speed corners) and short 3rd and above gears (to keep the car in powerband for better acceleration in straights).

It's a trick that's been there since GT2, because of the weird way PD sets out its gear ratio range is dependent on the Top Speed & Final gear. As I said in the previous page, in real life gear ratios are discrete values so you just pick and choose from a set. But in GT with its infinite values the whole thing is just unnecessarily complicated.

Transmission flip steps:
  • Move Final gear max right
  • Move Top Speed min left (these 2 steps are the magic "flipping" part, you will notice all the gear ratio values will change beyond what's previously possible)
  • Move 1st gear min left (to get long gear)
  • Move 6th/highest gear max right (to get short gear)
  • Space out gears 2nd-5th evenly in between
  • Move Final gear left bit by bit to get desired top speed you want on the track's longest straight + draft
  • You can fine tune individual gears to suit specific corners on track if you desire
  • No matter what you do DO NOT touch the Top Speed slider again after the second step. If you mess up, just reset everything to default and try again.

It's more complicated than it sounds, but play around with it a few times and you'll get the gist of it. It's not that complicated, I promise

Explainer in video form by prairano, if that's easier for you.

Yeah, Im dissapointed about that;) But seriously, I feel I dont belong in such high lobbies... Only reason my DR is so high is that last rounds of FIAs were really suiting me, and I had really good setups... Thank to one of polish top drivers who helped me set suspension, only thing I can set by myself is gearbox:D But slowly Im starting to understand how all this digits works;) Now Fuji in Nations, no tuning so I think my arse gonna be kicked hard:D

Yeah, same for me. I've really enjoyed the tuning races this season. They should do them all the time for the FIA races and have the Fixed settings races for Dailies and the World Tour.
