Noice!

Good to see Supercars fixed the timing on the totum... NOT

Noticed in the first session that Whincup and Jones were both apparently driving the #88.

Edit: Not sure what the hell has happened to Fullwood between Bathurst and this weekend. It's been a real struggle for him so far.

The Reynolds car looks even better on TV than it did in the release photos.

SVG down in 17th, has Mac Jones ever been the genuine quickest BJR in a session before?

Bloody hell. Some big names outside of the 10. SVG, Pye Slade, Percat, Reynolds. This is going to mix the race up quite a bit.

Winterbottom is going to have a nice and sticky grid box thanks to that launch from the V12 Jaguar earlier in afternoon.

The moment SVG took the lead I clicked it off. Was away for the live race so I was avoiding social media all night. Kind of wish I had spoiled it for myself, then I wouldn't have even bothered to watch the race at all.

One of the all time great drives from SVG no doubt. They may as well give him the championship now though. No one is going to come close this year.

Break SVG's other collarbone :sly:;)

But yeah, great drive 👍

You can’t fault the man, that was a hell of a drive but yeah, I’m not getting my hopes up for a tight championship battle.

Mostert noticeably ahead of SVG early on, runs off and cuts the final corner, comes back on in front. Skaife and Crompo. "Chaz needs to give that position back".

At the very least the weather made that race entertaining.

Let's play a game shall we? How many races left in the season before Shane locks this thing up?

Not sure how early. But my bet would be that he'll have it done by Bathurst at the latest.

Let’s not forget that T8 are always strong at Sandown. Bathurst can obviously be a bit of a wildcard but generally T8 and SVG are strong there too. I mean, it’s looking really good for SVG so far, but there’s a long way to go with a variety of different circuits. Tickford and WAU are closer than ever, and it’s only a matter of time until Davison and De Pasquale are up to speed with their new team.

14 days until the Tassie event and this happens https://www.speedcafe.com/2021/03/26/qld-coronavirus-case-prompts-advisory-to-supercars-teams/

It couldn't have come at a more awkward time for the Queensland based teams, and with the new case being confirmed as the same UK variant from the previous locally acquired case thirteen days ago case it doesn't bode well for them. These two people aren't linked so there's at least one other person out in the public with covid-19 and with Tassie being as strict as it's been I fear it could already be too late for them... unless they're deemed essential workers like the tennis players were here in SA and Victoria.

I think this is unlikely though as there were far different circumstances for the tennis. The tennis was already underway in Vic. and the players were already quarantined during the Victorian quarantine leak and the SA premier is both footy and tennis mad so he'd do anything to keep them going while at the same time cancelling anything motorsport related.

The Queensland based teams could also have been proactive last night and fled the state before the 14 days is up (which is in 3 hours at the time of typing this) giving them just enough time to quarantine in Tassie if needed.

Read Larko's take about doing away with paddl shift. I get it. There are positives and negatives. Not even thinking about cost saving, but how he mentioned the driver's skill.

Most of the year, these main drivers drive their car. Only three times die outside drivers touch these cars and for not many laps. The racing wouldn't make a difference once how the driver shift. If the cars are equally balanced, it's still a matter of passing zones, pit strategy, drafting and accidents/safety cars.

Yes, today, these cars are unique. Will GEN3 overall performance, be close to a GT3 or closer to GT4 car? Or will the cars be closer to a 1993 V8 supercar?

Gen3 seems like they won't have time of grip. They could still be difficult to steer with a locked diff.
I'm not a Supe cars racer, but as much as drivers don't want certain chang s, as long as the cars perform well, I'm sure we'll still see good racing.
