The eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series is live tonight at Talladega Superspeedway for Round 16 of the season and the 2nd race of the playoffs.
Race starts in 5 minutes.

Imagine someone whom was ten years old when North Wilkesboro host it's last race. That kid's probably got kids now, and can quietly laugh knowing Texas is on par with Kentucky, lol.
Given that Texas and North Wilkes are both owned by SMI and next year is NASCAR's 75th anniversary, I don't think they lost it so much as handed it over for a year to do a one-and-done nostalgia grab.

Part of me thinks that may be the case.

Texas wouldn't be such a bore if they did two things: Host it at night, so we won't get people fainting, and cut the distance down to 300, maybe 400.

Another Indy Car driver to debut in NASCAR.

Update: Bowman out for Talladega at least.

Bowman now in must win situation assuming he’s able to return next week. Noah Gragson is the fill in driver.

The Xfinity race had a great finish. Tough for Austin Hill as he led most of the race only to fall back at the end and finish 14th.

The Truck race on the other hand...Yes, a crash started as they were coming into the trioval on the final lap, but whoever pushes the button to put on the caution lights must have had an itchy trigger finger and hit it instantly instead of letting them race to the finish line. A letdown that was decided by officials spending forever looking at replays to see who was leading when the lights came on. So although Bret Holmes crossed the line first, mere inches in front of DiBenedetto, Matty D was credited with the win.

There was a scary moment for Justin Anderson during the race. His truck caught fire, and he attempted to exit it before it even came to a stop. Even scarier was that the truck hit the inside wall at the exact same time he popped out the window. Luckily he didn't get crushed between his truck and the wall or go flying over it. He did get 2nd degree burns over various portions over his body, though. It is expected he will be released from the hospital tonight if he hasn't already. Yikes!

Chase Elliott wins a Talladega classic! Great race from start to finish. Tons of passing, only one mildly sized wreck, huge number of drivers still running and a close finish!

Bowman will miss Charlotte.

Supposedly the drivers are meeting with NASCAR some time this week if it hasn't happened already, hopefully something positive happens as a result of that meeting and the crash tests NASCAR has been doing as this car has turned into a complete gong show in pretty much every category outside of racing at 1.5 mile tracks.

Speaking of injuries, Cody Ware is sitting out again this weekend. He was able to do Talladega despite the potential for further injury had he been caught up in a wreck, but road course racing is quite the different beast. Hopefully he heals up.

That Bowman news is not good. Concussions have now taken two drivers out of the playoffs, and, arguably, two teams out of the Round of 8.

Seems like DGR will fill the role of Toyota's development team in the Truck series.

It will be interesting to see how Ford responds considering this will just leave Front Row as the only Ford on the grid. Deegan is making her Xfinity debut in Vegas so I wonder if they plan on moving her up and just scrapping the Truck program.

The National Motorsport Appeal Panel, (which I’m not sure if they are owned/run by NASCAR or a separate entity) decided the penalty for Byron should be monetary instead of a loss of championship points.
As a heavily biased Byron fan I’m excited, but I really wish they would have explained the reasoning for the decision. I would assume Hendrick Motorsports argued that Byron’s penalty should have been given mid-race instead of post-race or something like that but who knows.

Edit: I guess they are separate entities.

As someone who is neutral towards Byron, I felt the 25 points was a bit harsh. I agree that had they penalized him during the race itself instead of somehow missing it during the race, he would have lost a lot fewer points. I doubt they would have even fined him if they did their job properly to begin with.

Just in case you forgot that the teams aren't very happy with NASCAR either...

Considering how long NASCAR has been able to double dip when it comes to TV money I'm not surprised they are putting up a fight to keep it that way.

From snooze fest to amateur hour tonight. These cars ruined road course racing a bit.

Don't know if they showed it on TV, but there was a sign/banner on the track that a track crew picked up in turn 6. That was the debris caution.
