I really wish they would run this scheme everywhere, it’s so much better than the usual Shell-Pennzoil one.

Next week should be very interesting as I can't imagine any of the remaining 7 drivers want to rely on Martinsville considering how hard it was to do anything there in the Spring.

The Johnny Benson 94 paint scheme's probably the best. Above the steve park pennzoil scheme even.

Logano should keep the one he won with for good luck. :P

Me: "Right, there was a race today. I wonder how it went..."

Sees Wallace/Larson incident

Me: "Goddamit, Bubba..."

But seriously, I'd say this is a pretty cut-and-dry penalty for Bubba. I get why he was pissed, but he was way too aggro retaliating.

Edit: And he was running 6th at the time?! :banghead:

Decent race, hope alan packs some more speed in that #9 car next weekend. I feel confident about Chase's chances at Martinsville.

He had just won stage 1 as well.

Yeah, that was odd. Guys get squeezed into the wall all the time. Normally the aggrieved driver will bump, rough up the side, or brake check the other car if they retaliate at all. Bubba went straight for the hook at full speed. Seriously dangerous. And then continued by shoving him afterwards? I understand being upset, as he should be. Larson admitted he made a mistake by driving in too deep. Larson took it all surprisingly well, though. Then again, he's no longer running for the championship, so it doesn't affect his season so much.

Other than that, I was hoping for winner #20 on the year, but it wasn't meant to be. I'm also trying to figure out what Blaney did to piss off the racing gods. He's fast every week, but something always happens to him.

Bubbles should be done for 2022. I remember when Kyle Busch ran career nobody Ron Hornaday up the track, he paid a price. The only thing preventing that is the blind eye that chumps like Bubba, Chase Elliott and William Byron get from NASCRAP

If I recall correctly, Busch wrecked Hornaday under caution, while Hornaday was still actively in truck series playoff contention. Larson certainly hit harder, and caused a potentially more dangerous scenario spinning up the track in front of the field at green-flag speed, but the overall championship repercussions of the incident weren't as damaging as they were to Hornaday.

Bell got it the worst because he had noting to do with the situation and now is at the bottom of the playoff contenders. So it could have some pretty big championship implications for Bell. I think NASCAR might park Bubba for this. Not that it really matters but Hornaday arguably ruined Busch Series Championship for Kyle Busch a few years before that incident. Kyle nudged Hornaday and Hornaday brake checked him in the middle of the corner and wrecked Kyle Busch and Greg Biffle. Kyle did not win that Championship as a result and him and Ron had bad blood.

Bubba likely got into some very hot water with the sponsors in the last few days (i.e. Toyota with Bell's involvement in the crash).

I'm expecting a similar punishment of a hefty fine and points loss to Gragson's boneheaded act at the Road America Xfinity race.

Probably this^

I also like to point this out about Bubba Wallace. He's known to be a hothead, and get carried away in the heat of the moment, that's not new.

William Byron got the brunt of it, Bowman got into it with him, too.

Larson took it surprisingly well. But I suspect fists would be flying if he was still in the round of 8.

It isn't the first for BW, but it definitely won't be the last.

A point penalty for Bubba would be useless at this point. He is not in the playoffs for the championship, and the 45 team was knocked out of the running for the owner's title.

I would expect a hefty fine and a 1-2 race suspension. Perhaps mandatory anger management is in order.

Correct call given the circumstances. Hopefully this also sets a new precedent going forward when it comes to on-track retaliations.

Considering the wording of the apology, I'm also thinking that Bubba got a right ass-chewing from his sponsors to Toyota themselves.

The punishment is mild. I expected it to be minimum 2 races, a hefty fine and some sort of Nascar ordered anger management course.

You can't do this at 150mph. Period.
Ah, gotcha. TBH I was half-expecting a 2-race ban myself. I don't think a fine really would've accomplished much at this point in the year, but an anger management course probably shouldn't be out of the question either at this point. I root for Bubba regularly, but there's been way too many times where he's let his emotions negatively effect his performance, with Sunday being by far the lowest point in his career. Hopefully it sinks in how (overall) lucky he is right now, and that he can get at least a bit of a clamp on it (for the sake of both his health and career) before next season.

It would've been two if Larson was in the playoffs, I think.

Matt Kenseth could probably vouch for that.

This^. Even back in his K&N Pro Series days, he's had moments like this (One particular incident comes in mind, Want to say it was South Boston but I could be wrong)

Even wilder, he was driving for Joe Gibbs at the time.

Funny how the racing world seems to go full circle. 🤔

Even funnier? Corey Lajoie won that race. 🤣

Ah, it was Bowmen Gray. But yep, that's the one. It is indeed very ironic, made even more so by the fact that the guy he had a scuffle with at Daytona a few years ago is now his car owner. That is right up there with Clint Bowyer driving for "The Worst driver in Nascar" (something that hilariously, said boss brought up  )
