* After a legendary performance last week and with loads of praise for their quarterback, what will the Houston Texans do for an encore when they visit the Cincinnati Bengals? GTPlanet inner-forum rivalry!
Rookie quarterbacks scare me. For whatever reason, they always seem to set records against Cincy. For my Bengals' sake, I hope Stroud doesn't go off again. :nervous:

I've noticed that too, and also noticed that a lot of QBs have a 2nd year slump because defenses spend time watching tape and studying tendencies, etc. So we'll see if he can continue over the next few years without the element of 'surprise' so to speak. And thats also assuming he doesn't shift into cruise control and stop trying to improve year over year.

If there's one thing I learned about the National Football League since I became a "sports fan" in 2002, consistency doesn't usually happen. You end up putting up a baller performance one week, and then pretty much lay an egg the next game. The teams you're supposed to beat end up winning. Just ask my Texans at the (then) winless Panthers, for example. It's true the "any given Sunday" statement comes true. The Texans might up up this epic comeback performance against Tampa Bay, and then falter in Cincinnati.

I'm actually uncertain about this one. I still think the Bengals are a solid team. Cincy is part of that three-way tie for 2nd in the AFC North. I still think this is a Bengals team that can be at least AFC Championship-bound. My Texans even have a handful of injuries we will probably know more about tomorrow. All I do know is that we'll be without K. Fairbairn this weekend. So the Bengals have a chance despite the fact we got CJ Stroud cooking right now. The one nightmare I have is the Texans losing in Cincinnati the way they did at Atlanta and Carolina- on "walk-off" field goals. A win for the Texans can put them at 5-4. A Texans win and a Jaguars loss will bring us about one game closer to tying for the AFC South lead.

Here is a different to post now. How many of you like seeing reactions from fans and sports media on the latest games? I spent a good amount of time from the Buccaneers at Texans game listening to and seeing reactions from others. Texans fans obviously gushing over CJ Stroud's awesomeness from that game. Meanwhile, most Tampa Bay fans wanted Todd Bowles to be fired as head coach. Maybe since I previously had career ambitions in Broadcasting and Journalism, I sort of wanted to get the full story. It's something I like to do often times. I sometimes even snoop around on Facebook and Twitter getting reactions from others. You never know what some people think about how they feel about how a game ends.

The Raiders moved to Los Angeles and have three teams now? I think you meant "LAS VEGAS Raiders." Usually I'm making the typos, but I wanted to point this out. If you want to take it further, "Cincinnati" and "Buccaneers" are misspelled. Just looking out, mate. :)
Bahaha, old habits die hard :ouch:

My Mid-Season Rankings:

25. Pittsburgh Steelers
12-5 over the last 17 games (so a full season basically). No one knows how this has happened but Pittsburgh might actually be ... good ?!

I'm still confused by the San Diego Chargers.
Ayep, I stand by my answer....and it being totally wrong. It's the last 30+ years of watching football that does it for me, haha.

Tonight's Thursday Night Football game may not be the most enticing with two teams for a combined 3-14, but it is a game to watch for fans of either the Chicago Bears or the visiting Carolina Panthers. This could very well be the "Caleb Wiliiams Bowl." We must remember the team with the real worst record in the league is the 1-8 Arizona Cardinals. So enjoy this game if you'll be watching or following!

As for my Houston Texans, we are rebuilding and have quite the MASH unit of injuries. How we still managed to win last week was a miracle of science. Cincinnati is a much more talented team than Tampa Bay (all due respect). On top of that, AT Cincinnati will not do the Texans any favors. We had seasons here in Houston where we had to deal with a lot of injuries. Even during the Gary Kubiak (I think) coaching days, the coach even said (indirect quote) "we have to keep putting up offense to compensate for our woes on defense." All the game planning a team can ever do does not involve injuries. When somebody goes down or may be questionable or doubtful, it's "next man up." Even our emergency kicker, who is a backup RB, helped out when our main kicker got hurt. You almost feel like the entire Texans roster is on one injury report.

Well, somebody had to win last night; and it was the Chicago Bears winning 16-13 against the visiting Carolina Panthers. Next game to come will be the game in Frankfurt, Germany between the Indianapolis Colts and the New England Patriots.

On the plus side it appears Tee Higgins is out for the Bengals. Hoping Chase is not 100% either.
The amazing thing is that Boyd is probably the 3rd best receiver on the team but could be a #1 on many other teams. Irwin and those lower may have to step it up. And after a season of little production, the tight ends will need to play like they did last week when they (sort of) broke out.

Think it's safe to say that the Panthers have overtaken (or at least on par with) the Browns for most embarrassing and incompetent franchise in the league. Heads should be rolling after this loss in particular but nothing will happen.

The Panthers have been poorly run since they made their last SB. They continue to pick the wrong players. I am not including Bryce Young because I think he will be good eventually. But they let Foreman go and traded Moore. They signed Sanders to the highest paid RB contract and Hayden Hurst to be a security blanket for Young. They didn't trade Brain Burns. They signed DJ Chark. So many bad choices.
They have a habit of trading 1st Rd picks in next draft then need them. It starts at the top and Tepper so far has been a terrible owner. I don't think he is Dan Snyder bad because he feel like he's a decent person but just an incompetent owner until proven otherwise

Whether the game(s) you want to see are in Germany or in the United States, get ready for another fine Sunday of NFL football. Enjoy today's games, including the Sunday Night match between the New York Jets at the Las Vegas Raiders!

Texans and Bengals might have well been an Ohio State showcase game. HOU's Stroud and CIN's Burrow wore the scarlet and gray as the QB matchup on a beautifully sunny Sunday in Cincinnati. There were also some other Ohio State players in this game. This was a spirited and fierce game. It seemed over until CJ Stroud threw an interception late. This one ended 30-27 in favor of the Houston Texans. My blood pressure and heart rate were high in the closing moments. Then, Houston cashed in a money field goal to escape Cincinnati with a win. We're above .500 for once now! Both teams leave today 5-4.

This is the first time since 2019 the Texans won five or more games (made playoffs in 2019).

UP NEXT: Back home against the Arizona Cardinals next Sunday.

Lighthearted notes:

* This game was Kevin Harlan's 500th game called on CBS. I LOVE Kevin Harlan, so I'm proud for him on this.

* You know, if I were traveling, I wouldn't visiting Cincinnati. Beautiful city! I was awed at some of the beauty shots of Cincy. I do like Paycom Stadium as well as Great American Ballpark.

One last note... Dolph Drago, you guys are going to compete and contend. This is a tough loss for your Bengals, but you guys are not going to stop fighting. Don't get disgusted. Your Bengals are still solid even in the tough-as-nails AFC North. Nice little GTP-forum rivalry game. :)

Congratulations to all winners from this week! How did your beloved team(s) do, GTPlanet?

All I could see were the highlights on NFL Gameday Live on NFL Network (CBS was showing Packers at Steelers instead, as if any of us in Indy really cares ). I did see Boyd drop what should have been the go-ahead touchdown. Brutal. The AFC North is still up for grabs. Cleveland came back against Baltimore with a game winning field goal. Somehow Pittsburgh won again. They have to be the worst 6 win team in football right now. That luck has to run out at some point.

Another great, late win for Stroud. With him making noise, the AFC is even more stacked with quarterbacks now. Burrow, Jackson, Mahomes, Allen, Herbert, Lawrence, Tua...

And yes, Cincinnati is pretty. When you come out of the "cut in the hill" on I-75 north from Kentucky, the city looks pretty cool. Paycor Stadium is nice, and GABP is excellent. You often get to see riverboats going down the Ohio while watching a Reds game.

That felt like an old Lions victory. No defense, all offense, and a shootout until the very end. A win is a win though, so I'll take it.

Giants got slammed today and were outscored by Dallas 89-17 on the season series. That being said, those 17 points will probably be more than the Jets score in Las Vegas tonight.

The NFC South is a crime against football. And as a Saints fan, I need Dennis Allen gone.
As another saints fan I want Dennis fired ......it's painful being a fan this year one week they look like they get it together then completely collapse the next week.....the Vikings should have been easy to beat ...

I think you mean 49-17. not 89-17. Still a sad day for Giants fans.

I can sum up my NFL season in one song...

The Packed-It-Ins will have a top-4 pick, and will either trade it or draft defense again.

13-4

imagine if we had even a league average QB
I said the same thing about the Jets before the season started. I know they have Aaron Rodgers but having a league average QB would be great right now. Possibly a league average OC too would help. Zach Wilson has showed that even as a backup he's not league average. The Jets should have won last night. Terrible game by everyone involved with that team. Everyone they bought in that is connected to Aaron Rodgers has been a terrible addition especially the OC. Oh well I guess it's time to start looking forward to the Jets Superbowl the draft
