Hulk is a beast of a driver. If only Mercedes hired him instead of Bottas, I think he would have done way better.

edit: officially official

They couldn't since very few days before he signed at Renault and it was too expensive to buy him out. Blame Rosberg :P

I know he's not a driver but it will be interesting to see where Adrian Newey goes.

Back with Aston on the Valkaryie/WEC project for gardening leave then F1 in 2026 or to Ferrari

Frankly, I'd be shocked if he didn't end up at Ferrari, if he leaves Red Bull. That's the one feather he absolutely wants in his cap.

Ferrari
Leclerc
Hamilton
Vasseur
Newey

Is that as close to a modern era F1 dream team as we will ever see?

Realistically the dream team in 2024 is:

Red Bull (Operationally they are perfect, great pitstops and strategies. Same can't be said for Ferrari)
Verstappen (Has he even made a proper driving mistake in the last few years?)
Hamilton (Legacy only, Alonso or Sainz on current form)
Horner (Who do you think got Red Bull working so well?)
Newey (Obvs)

Does Newey want to watch his cars do a 4-stop onto the wrong tyres each time while watching the Red Bull-Ford one-stop to win?

Audi have now posted about Hulkenberg being signed as the first Audi F1 factory driver in a post that would have been easy to miss.

I must have missed the announcement of the full takeover of the Sauber group as well, so is that hidden news there too?

It's also the first F1 related post by Audi themselves since August.

Sauber: Concept by Mercedes-Benz, Winner with BMW, Takeover from Audi.

Looking forward to that Opel partnership in 2037.

It's actually happening! After all these years of speculation and back and forth, Audi is finally going to enter F1!

I could see this being Mick Schumacher's way back into F1. He already has ties to Alpine via their Hypercar Program in WEC after all.

They almost crashed at Masenet too on the same lap. It could have been a lot worse.

Ocon can’t seem to get along with any of his team mates, he’s not a stand out driver either. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was out of F1 after this year.

That's exactly why I said I'd be very surprised if he gets another seat somewhere else. I don't think he's done enough to show any team that he's really deserving of that. Looking at the pool of talents coming up and and other drivers that could be available at the end of the year too, he's got some competition.

Toto would've lost his noggin if he did that instead of Antonelli.
Still think it's too soon for Antonelli. Give Ocon a 1 year deal and let Antonelli have another season of F2 (assuming he doesn't win it this season).

Put that last Thursday in the wrong thread, my guessing game:

Merc is probably 99% fixed with Antonelli since Max isn't available for 2025 after the Horner and RB Thailand cases seem to have cooled off.
Looks like also Vowles will go with a Albon + another experienced driver/race winner (Bottas, Sainz, probably Perez but seems to take the +1 at RedBull) solution instead of Antonelli for Williams.
Alpine seems wide open and I would love if they'd do the "risk" version taking Doohan + Mick Schumacher since the french national team thing just didn't work out. Ocon is 100% toast while keeping the mostly slower of the pair with Gasly also doesn't make really sense to me and getting lay offs like Zhou, potentially Magnussen, etc. while having young talents to test in a probably again mediocre 2025 season is a low risk with more to win than to loose.
Depending on the sponsoring funds Zhou can maybe get the foot in the door at Haas besides Bearman.
VCARB will continue or Lawson will be in, probably if for Daniel.
Stake/Audi will probably go with Sainz if available or maybe Gasly, don't think they want a rookie while needing to make huge progress before beeing Audi. Rumours seem that Seidel is not a Ocon fan (like probably now all teamchefs) so I don't think he'll get a seat in 2025. Let's not forget that this already was his second chance in F1 after beeing Totos PA for one year without a drive.

There will be many 1 year + option contracts for 2025 and the actual situation will go on repeat next year.

Ocon will be racing harder than ever now, I wonder how many penalties he'll rack up. I hope Doohan gets the seat next year though, one year out of racing is too long.

Wouldn't mind Schumacher getting another chance but surely Doohan is in the box seat being Alpine's reserve.

I'd like to hope so anyway. 😅

Red Bull has done a complete 180 now. They used to pull the not-Verstappen driver out quickly, now they keep the not-Verstappen driver.

Why do they have such faith in him, I wonder?

Money from sponsors he brings.
