Except for his physical and mental wellbeing as he becomes the most hated man in Utah and the Republican Party. You said it yourself... he's not insane.
He's already hated in Utah and by most of the far-right wing Republicans. But I think he could pull independents who don't like Biden and hate Trump. I don't think he will do it, but we need some one to come in and save us from the guy who doesn't know where he is and the guy who should be in jail.

I'm not sure what Mitch McConnell has to do with this. Kidding but Biden seems staunchly mid in comparison. It would be great for voters to have a realistic alternative to him at the polls though.

Remember when Romney was the crazy, right-wing nutjob with bizarre beliefs? And now he's the sane one? That shows how far the Republican party has moved in 10 years.

Democrats don't have anyone moderate to put forward (Sanders is not an option and anyone who is a talking head in the party would most certainly not be electable). Republicans are paralyzed by stupidity.

The primary process is badly broken.

"We have a man who is totally corrupt and the worst president in the history of our country, who is cognitively impaired, in no condition to lead, and is now in charge of dealing with Russia and possible nuclear war. Just think of it. We would be in World War Two very quickly if we’re going to be relying on this man, and far more devastating than any war."
"How crooked Joe Biden and the radical left have weaponised law enforcement to arrest their leading political opponent - and leading by a lot, including Obama... With Obama we won an election that everyone said couldn't be won."
Remind me who it was who doesn't know where he is again?

Chris Christie was the most sane person on the stage during the last debate.

Good. Hopefully he steals votes away from the Republican candidate in the general election.

Oh, he definitely will. This guy spouts the same wacky stuff Trump supporters eat up. A few of the usual right-wing media grifters have already called for him to drop out bc they know will take Trump votes.

Trump's supporters will lap it up. OAN have broadcast a few times about Jewish Americans whilst referring to Israel as "your country".

Pee Wee Lol GIF

To be fair, the 3rd party hurts Republicans more. If Trump runs as an independent somehow (either due to them distancing from him or he gets convicted and they deem him too toxic, or both) the party could in theory lose the battle but win the war.
It's funny because connie rats were propping up Jr. as a challenger to Biden for the Democratic nomination not so long ago. Indeed that's the only substantive support Jr. got in the bid against Biden. But then as soon as the pin dropped on Jr. running independent, connie rats switched into panic mode.

lol political ****ing suicide, this man is so stupid.

Political suicide yes but unfortunately the dude has the power to change voting habits and thus the political environment. Notice that while the US government, all our representatives, and most friendly international governments all staunchly support Israel, support among citizens is actually really weak.

While we're all sympathetic toward terrorist attacks, most of us think Israel as an entity is just a pain in the ass. Fifty percent of Jewish Americans who aren't Boomers agree, and the younger they are the more likely they see Zionism as basically a mental illness. In total, Jewish Americans are basically split and the overwhelming support by our government officials simply does not exist among constituents. Governments know this which is why they've been trying so hard to frame this as "Israel's 9/11" which in honestly is just another phase of a decades-long war that will never end until one group or another is eradicated. Our support for Israel is like 80% propaganda ********.

Unfortunately, Trump in a way is speaking a truth that people aren't allowed to believe out loud. Again.

I admittedly don't know all of the positions of Phillips inside and out, but from what I've read thus far, I find myself in agreement on many things. I know one of the big things he's pushed for is campaign finance reform, which I'm very much in support of.

I don't think this is a good time for the blues to show any sort of fracturing. Especially from somebody who speaks about Biden the exact same way all these Republican candidates speak about Trump. "I adore..." yada yada.

The guy literally says that Biden is not incapable of a second term, which means that the office doesn't need change, while simultaneously suggesting that he's not doing this for himself. If the change doesn't need to happen due to various reasons he's stating himself, then why is he trying to change it? That's the mark of somebody who wants the office. We shouldn't be electing people who want the job.

I think some of his points are valid, though. Biden's approval rating is terrible and he is too old. While Phillips may or may not be the right guy, I do think those reasons he put forth are worth considering. I think Phillips's ideas also appeal more to the moderate voters who think the Democrats are too far left and the Republicans are insane.

I do worry about Biden's ability to beat Trump. Even though Trump is a criminal and belongs in jail, a not-so-insignificant number of people still think he's good for the country because the economy happened to be good when he was in office. You have to remember the average voter thinks the president controls things like gas prices, inflation, the stock market, and just the economy as a whole.

I'm guessing it's more about 2028.

I don’t see how presidential approval rating has anything to do with it. They’ve all been terrible for decades. And the reason is mainly because Congress is absolutely useless so presidents can’t get anything done no matter which party they’re from. That’s not worth a change of President, that’s worth a change of representatives.
