Sorry, but what do you guys mean by "tub"?

the tub is the monocoque basically the survival cell for the driver. Theres only a few things you can not replace during the race race. The engine and the tub are the 2 big ones. if either of them get damaged your race is done.

So wait, the BMW has a puncture and they are back in the race in a few minutes, and the Peugeot has thrown in the towel? I'm not sure...it just didn't seem like that major a problem for the 908.

They could deny the hole in the tub and replace the parts that need to be replaced (as long as the stewards dont see the hole) but at post race tech they will just be DQ'd because of the hole. And at that point if its found that they knew about the hole they could recive quite a few punishments such as fines.

Did you see the way he was driving back to the pits? Triple figure speeds with a puncture/damage, and the suspension was ripped out as a result along with serious friction damage.

Also; JLOC puncture!

And now JLOC has a problem. I really thought they might complete a race with out problems for once.

To be fair a puncture is something that usually is out of the control of the team, this was most likely caused by a piece of debris from an earlier incident on track. It's not that serious either as long as you're careful on the way back to the pits.

Right-o. Thanks for the confirmation on the Peugeot damage. It just looked weird initially. Fairplay though. Is there any official reason why we are having so many tyre problems? It's not just been in the 24, its been happening almost consistently across the races...and Audi are thinking about QUAD-stinting tyres?! Hmmm...forgive me for being such a novice in such matters, it just seems unusual to have so many tyre problems.

As one of the commentators said, the punctures also happen quite alot on the back right side as well - might be because drivers are rubbing a curb a bit too hard in one of the corners.

I think in the pre-race show, they said the gravel at Le Mans had a certain something to it (don't remember what) that could cause problems if it ended up on the road.

The gravel in Le Mans is very flinty and as such is very sharp, once it picked up by the tyres it cuts it's way in

You're right about quad stints, triple sounds like enough

And it seems that most have been right rear punctures too. During the Group C race there was a lot of talk about sharp gravel, but I wonder if there's a right-hander curb on track that is particularly catching people out and causing the punctures.

Keep your ears open if you're listening to RLM. ;)

Couple of off's for the GT2 Spyker.

It's a sad thing, the loss of the Ford GT1 and the Peugeot 908 HDi.

Well, at least the Ford GT1 has a slim chance of returning to the race...

Big crash involving the Spyker and.. not so sure the other one... But one of the Prototypes.

EDIT: Car #38 that is...

It looked a lot more severe than it actually was, the Spyker was damaged from an off a few corners earlier and the Judd is fine apart from some very light damage, mud and rubber on the bodywork.👍

The rear right of the Judd was ruined. Definitely suspension damage and the front left was fully off the ground as it drove back to the pits. Also missing the wing.

Also, the Jaguar RSR has been put out of it's misery and has been retired.
