First of all,
To AE86 and the other 24 hour endurers,
Otsukare-chan! 👍
Next,
How about a club for people who actually managed to read this whole thread! 💡
I was taking a break from doing the 1000 mile championship, and feeling quite proud of myself at that, when I decided to log on and look for info about doing endurance races. I see I got a ways to go.
Anyway, I'm driving the Ginetta in the 1000 mile classic Euro cup. I've taken off excess weight, added a sports muffler/air-cleaner, racing flywheel and Nitro. That's 98ps. Needless to say the nitro is useless in endurance racing and the Ginetta wipes the track with the other classics, so I replaced the original muffler after the 35 laps of the Nur. Still 95ps (why did I ever get that muffler?) I did 12 laps without a pit stop for either tires or gas. The second stop came 8 laps later. I'd got my confidence up and was putting in faster times and braking less. I didn't need to get gas for the rest of the race.
I finished the 95 laps at the Paris Opera without a refuel. I only changed tires about three times... already forgot what I was doing after reading all this...
Just some random pit talk from the minimal perspective to introduce myself. This is a really interesting thread.
I'm not sure which is crazier, doing the 24hr race in one sitting, or eating 96 slimjims.

! I'm surprised someone actually still reply to this, hahahaha. Sankyuu~<3
! Well..anyways..I have been hearing about all of this weather and details of cars complaints recently and I find it weird
. I guess people forget already that it is "The Real DRIVING Simulator" instead of "The Real Graphics Simulator" or even "The Real LIFE Simulator". I have never heard people complain about physics of the driving in this game,so I believe it holds true to "The Real DRIVING Simulator" and I respect that
! I don't know about everyone around me,but I play games to escape reality, therefore if a game does not live up to the expectations of "reality",then it doesn't bother me really, because I find it to be very understandable. I believe I would find it rather weird if I could play reality on my television,so I will be fine playing games that possibly come close to reality, but not and I will not complain about such details, because then if I worry about as much,I should not even play the game
!

I agree about escaping reality with the game, but from another point of view, I think the game is also used to do things that we could never, or wouldn't want to do in reality. In this case we have a virtual experience. That said, I don't really want the AI deciding when I get a flat or blow my engine. Look at the way they race!
I noticed the turbulence factor at Circ de Sarthe racing the normal French Car only championship. I hadn't quite got the hang of the second half of the course and the 80's Renault came up on me just before that first 90degree turn when I was still at full throttle, but making that gentle bend to the right. I'd never had a problem with that turn in any of my practice laps. Not even the first one, but before I knew it I was spinning out of control through the grass on the left-hand side totally out of control. I didn't get it back till I was resting in the sand-trap at the far end of the corner while the stupid Renault sped away. I was much faster than him in my Alpine 110, but on my least comfortable section of the course he was fast enough to stay ahead. What can you do in a 1 lap race! The antithesis of endurance, but, I believe, a clear example of fluid dynamics.
This race was really easy..it was just being able to "endure" your bigger opponent...yourself .
Someone should make this the a permanent sticky, hell, I might make it my sig!
Again, otsukare and thanks for the fun read.
