Jann is in 3rd the SP2 class.

Anyone know why Jann and Brian are down on the entry list for RJN Motorsport 2 in SP3 class #120 aswell as the SP2 class "Gamers Car" #100?

Do they get two drives?

No. It's a back up in case anything happened to their car to make sure they get to drive.

That's because this race is their prize for winning the Academy.

Faisal BinLaden is also listed in two cars, they were discussing it on Radio Lemans. Didn't catch as to why, perhaps in case one car retires they can pitch in on the other?

Edit: Thx Tired

Jann seems to be down a few seconds on the last few laps. Hoping nothing else is going wrong with the car. How often do they need new tires on the 370Z?

Even worse the car hasn't finished its last lap, 2 places down and not in the pits so not looking good :(

Both the #50 BMW and the #5 Z4 are being towed as of now. The #50 was said to be leading the class throughout the entire race.

That's a great link JT - I love this:

"The circuit, which contains six different configurations, is designed to allow three circuits to operate simultaneously, safely and independently from each other."

They don't do anything by halves in UAE.

Just heard from Radio Le Mans. Good job, RJN engineers!

Car is currently in 52nd place, though. They will need alot of catching up to do... :(

I realize that problems happen in endurance racing, but does anyone else think that whoever prepared their car maybe didn't do a great job of it?

Then again, it's not a common endurance car, so they're probably learning the problem areas as they go. Maybe they should have stuck with something more sorted-out, but I guess Nissan didn't want to put them in a Porsche.

Brake wear and an electrical throttle failure hardly sound like issues with preparation. There could be environmental factors that couldn't be calculated or replicated ahead of time.

Who says it was brake wear? That early into a race I'd expect it to be some type of mechanical failure, not wear already. If it is wear already, then they obviously didn't do enough testing of pad compounds.

Electronic throttle failure can be unexpected, but I'm not so sure they should use electronic throttle on a race car for that very reason. I realize most road cars use it now (including mine), but I believe most race cars are still cable or rod actuated to avoid these types of issues. I could be wrong.

See the first part of your sentence. Any car in a 24 hour race can be subject to unpredictable technical issues in any given part of the car, and there's almost nothing you can do to prevent or prepare for most of those issues. It's kind of like losing your hearing because you were right next to a lightning strike.
