It's not supposed to be listed in the first post. Toscana Tuesdays (That's Today BTW), has it's own thread in this very section. Great room, mostly 450, but Graham does a great job keeping the excitement.

Edit: I do not know how to post a link to a thread on IPhone GTP app. So if Graham wants too post it, he can.

I have pulled out some of my custom tracks in the past. I try my best to make simple courses that can easily be memorized. However, the track action can get a little messy when people haven't had adequate time to practice a track. Anyway, if someone has an easy fun track they created, share it and let me know. I'll give it a spin and maybe include it one evening.

Last night was fun. I had to ditch the Cougar after the 2nd race. I swear it just has no grip compared to some of the premium muscle cars. It's like driving on ice. I finally removed the LSD just to get the car to turn but I was definitely spinning tires a little exiting turns. I would have been OK with that if I could at least take the turns at the same velocity as everyone else. If someone comes up with a competitive tune for that car that will put it on par with the other cars I'd love to see it. Somehow I ended up in front at the start of Laguna. I spent the whole race doing my best to stick to the driving line, figuring that drivers could pass me on the straights or go around on the outside (I was so slow in the turns, taking the outside actually worked for some people)...but I wasn't going to give up positions for free. I made leadbeddr work for his 2nd place finish.

I missed all the action at Indy because the Cougar was just too slow in the turns. At one point I got punted off the track by Nic. He waited for me but even after that I was unable to keep up.

Monza was fun. We had a little misshap on the last turn. I got a bump that put me into the sand. It took a second to get back on track while whoever hit me waited. During that time, the next pack of cars came and I got another bump square in my bumper that send me flying ahead. It was a big help actually...but I feel bad for the person who waited for me to re-enter the track. I left them way back. I tried to strategically place myself in 2nd for the final lap figuring if I stayed close enough I could make a pass on the final straight. That didn't work out so well. I got passed and dropped back to 3rd and couldn't pull my car in tight enough on the final turn to gain the position back. I should've just went for 1st on the back stretch.

Monaco was the usual mess. Even with all friends in the lobby we had issues. I was on the inside for turn 1 and we were still running 2-wide so I took it a little slow to give the car next to me room. What happens? I get rammed from behind and slam the other car into the wall. Then I got bumped entering the first hairpin which sent me wide (possibly the same driver, didn't watch replay to see). The perp came up along side me after the bump and then a 3rd car tried to split the two of us. I got pit maneuvered and completely spun around before we reached the 2nd hairpin. Later, while I was working my way back up, I was running real close to someone else entering the 2nd hairpin and got bumped from behind and ended up pushing the car i was following out of the way. I had no intention to pass there...I would've gotten around on the straight because my car was very quick. There were also issues at the chicane after the tunnel. For the most part, it looked like people were trying to run the appropriate line (and not cut it) but I saw some dive bomb attempts. People keep voting for this track and we keep having problems. I'm not sure what to do.

yes monza was awesome, lots of fun on that track, monaco was a mess, i voted for monaco because the other day (sunday maybe) we have e real great race, i was first in the first lap when my sister ring the bell so i parked my car, open the door, run back to the tv and try to catch the guys who passed me (almost everyone) well in 8 laps i have made lots of good overtakes (epic pass on twichie:sly:) without problems, everyone was very clean, but yesterday the first turn was like a destruction derby, dont know why. p.s. pay attention when you go on track! let pass the guys who are running a good lap!

Laguna Seca last night. Lots of 2-wide racing as people tried to get around me. The sad part is that people went off track and caught up to me again. The cougar had decent straight line speed, it is just the cornering speeds I can't figure out. From the video, it looks almost like i'm on the wrong tires. i started cooking them the last few laps to keep up but I just couldn't carry the same speed as everyone else entering the turns.

Who's ready for JDM night!? Can't wait to run Fuji. I'd like to run the variation with the chicane, since that's a major passing opportunity.

Yes, we'll run the chicane version. I'll open the room about 9:45. Possibly earlier but I need to make sure I have a car or two to run.

The Chevelle was doing well on Laguna last night. I thought when we were racing head to head the first lap, that I would be able to clear you and use cars to block Osprey. But I went way off, ended up in 8th, and made my way back to you on the last lap. Got sketchy, but was all in fun.

I voted for Monaco because F1 just ran there. Maybe Monaco is more suited for comfort soft nights? More braking distance = more passing or more collisions?

By the way, how do you guys keep your car on the track with contact? At la Sarthe, I was following Nic-KL in 2nd place going into Indianapolis when I got a little contact while braking and went off course. I noticed that before my contact, Nic-KL and the Buick Special had some contact but both kept on the track reasonably well. Am I just reacting too slow, or do you guys anticipate contact and counter-steer accordingly?

Yeah, I had no choice but to block at the end. Any other lap and I would've let you draft pass...but with the finish only feet away I wanted my podium finish :)

What's the word on the NSX? I've yet to try either of them, is it just the NSX-R that's too quick?
Don't plan on running any NSX all night. If you win a race with one, put it away and drive something else. It's one of those cars where you can drive sloppy, screw up every turn, and still catch up with people. So when a good driver gets in one, they basically take off down the track and win without much effort...unless everyone drives them...and i don't want to see a track full of NSX's.

Mostly just watch your mirror's, if you watch closely enough, you will be able to anticipate in time with braking, or speed up and maneuver out of the way. But usually, you can just force the car too oversteer and correct it then. That's what I do anyways, I'm sure others have different/better solutions.

Edit: Depending on Graham, I might join the JDM night. So, if I don't show tonight, try not too cry leadbedr. I know I've been pushing you too good finishes lately, you may not have a draft buddy tonight.

Yeah, I see why everyone voted for it last night. I am always gung-ho about doing the track and I've placed well in the past...but basically the first 2 or 3 cars get out in front and everyone behind gets caught up in some sort of mayhem. Two weeks ago I was pit maneuvered on the straight the first lap. This week I at least made it to the first hairpin. I think CS tires would only make things worse. To be quick, you need to use the entire track for each of the slow turns. it exposes the inside of the track and drivers think it is an opportunity to exploit it when it is already too late to make a clean pass.

When someone is jockying for my position, I typically brake at about 85-90% of my ability. That leaves some grip left over. It prevents me from making a mistake on a turn, it gives the following driver more time to hit their brakes, and it gives me the ability to recover from a moderate tap. I focus on holding the line and hitting the apex for a fast exit. As for the Indianapolis turn, I never take that fast in online races. it's one of my worst turns in the game.

re: laguna video

so thats what it looks like back in the pack :sly:

Laguna and Nurburgring are the two tracks I have spent most time on in the game (favourites) so I typically do pretty well.

chuyler, I can't tell how good/bad your cornering is because my UOMs are in KM/HR so I can't compare cornering speeds. Your lines can use improvement though.

I had fun racing last night. I think its the first time Ive won a race.
I think the camaro is that fastest out of the muscle cars, but ill take the win.

I hope some people watch that Laguna video. While I am from from the best driver here, at least Im not dive bombing into Chuyler while trying to pass him.
I wish some of the faster guys would just be a little more patient when passing us slower folk.

Quick question for tonight, is Tom's X540 CHASER considered a tuner?

Edit - I think it is. I'd like to take it for a spin so I might bring it out anyway unless anyone has any objections (those who have raced with me know I'm super slow!)

Well Tom's is a tuner...but the Chaser is a pretty big and heavy car. I say give it a shot.

About the NSX, I won't race with it but I'm gonna take a few laps during free run with it to see how it is.

I know the lines around the track for the most part. I wouldn't call that video a lesson on running the track at all since the car was understeering the entire time. in fact, I'm not sure I put down a single decent lap. On entry, the front tires wouldn't grab and rotate the car until i slowed to a crawl. On exit it would generally run wide again unless I held back on the throttle.

+1. Great driving and persistence from Leadbedr. There were numerous places he could have just plowed through me but he waited for the right moment. Once he was beside me, I gave him room and he used that to pull ahead. It's much more rewarding to trail someone for a few turns and make a clean pass.

this this and this!

it is the most frustrating thing for me. im not at all the fastest, but i tend to brake early and either get punted or cut off all the time. i dont dive right back, i let them take it so i fall back.

im not blaming any one person, but i know chuyler and leadbedr havent given me trouble. and anyone who is usually up front, like nik, i dont have problems with because i am never up there. :sly:

i have hosted several times 450pp room before join chuyler lobby and i have always let my friends pick the nsx. one guy in particular choose that car 90% of the time and i did not notice this superiority, my friend is very quick btw. i tried it some times and always looked worse than my shiny rx8, and not only that. i will not pick that car but i think that there is no reason to ban it edit: the tires was comfort soft or sport hard

I agree with franky's post, however if it turns out that everyone is driving an NSX-R just to be competitive, then at that stage I think it would be fine to implement the ban on the car.

At the end of the day, the guys who race in this room do so to have fun so if it is only a couple of people driving the NSX I don't think it is a big deal. Especially if they aren't slaughtering the rest of the field.

yes i like to pick different cars, not only the fastest, i love my alfa romeo gulia even if it has no chance, just becouse its fun! for me the nsx its not so superior, even if the fastest guys should pick it i am pretty safe that a normal rx7-8 can be competitive

On lesser tires, most cars lose their competitive edge and it is really up to the driver so it doesn't surprise me that you didn't notice it being super fast with comfort soft tires...because it probably can't put the power down as efficiently.

I really don't care if people use it and finish middle of the pack. I just don't want someone winning by 10 seconds with the same NSX the entire night. If you win by that much, I just ask that you switch things up with a different car. The best races are the closest races.

hmmm, i have an 2 NSX in my garage but i never did try to tune it. i might give it a whir tonight... i already set my eyes on my lowly rx-7 and a Supra for tonight's race. :)

At one point I got punted off the track by Nic. He waited for me but even after that I was unable to keep up.
.

I had been thinking that I had punted you all morning long. That's why I stopped and waited too. I had to go back and look at the replay.

Don't worry about it man, I'm on for tonight. Sorry I missed last week...

That's also the reason for the rule that you have to switch cars when you win. So I say let people pull out an NSX if they want to... maybe they'll win right away and then they'll have to change cars immediately.

heh, I was just a roadblock for everyone at Indy. I got bumped more than once but I'm pretty sure it was Nic that put me in the sand. Probably wasn't his fault though, he has lag punted me before from following too closely, and I had so much trouble getting the Cougar to turn in he probably expected me to already be on the gas. I think that is the last time I ever use that Cougar. I jumped into the Camaro after that it was like putting racing tires on. All of a sudden I could turn.
