Ahem... That's my room on Tuesdays.
That's not listed in the first post, so we didn't know.
Ahem... That's my room on Tuesdays.
chuyler1Laguna Seca last night. Lots of 2-wide racing as people tried to get around me. The sad part is that people went off track and caught up to me again. The cougar had decent straight line speed, it is just the cornering speeds I can't figure out. From the video, it looks almost like i'm on the wrong tires. i started cooking them the last few laps to keep up but I just couldn't carry the same speed as everyone else entering the turns.

Yeah, I had no choice but to block at the end. Any other lap and I would've let you draft pass...but with the finish only feet away I wanted my podium finishThe Chevelle was doing well on Laguna last night. I thought when we were racing head to head the first lap, that I would be able to clear you and use cars to block Osprey. But I went way off, ended up in 8th, and made my way back to you on the last lap. Got sketchy, but was all in fun.
Don't plan on running any NSX all night. If you win a race with one, put it away and drive something else. It's one of those cars where you can drive sloppy, screw up every turn, and still catch up with people. So when a good driver gets in one, they basically take off down the track and win without much effort...unless everyone drives them...and i don't want to see a track full of NSX's.What's the word on the NSX? I've yet to try either of them, is it just the NSX-R that's too quick?
Yeah, I see why everyone voted for it last night. I am always gung-ho about doing the track and I've placed well in the past...but basically the first 2 or 3 cars get out in front and everyone behind gets caught up in some sort of mayhem. Two weeks ago I was pit maneuvered on the straight the first lap. This week I at least made it to the first hairpin. I think CS tires would only make things worse. To be quick, you need to use the entire track for each of the slow turns. it exposes the inside of the track and drivers think it is an opportunity to exploit it when it is already too late to make a clean pass.I voted for Monaco because F1 just ran there. Maybe Monaco is more suited for comfort soft nights? More braking distance = more passing or more collisions?
When someone is jockying for my position, I typically brake at about 85-90% of my ability. That leaves some grip left over. It prevents me from making a mistake on a turn, it gives the following driver more time to hit their brakes, and it gives me the ability to recover from a moderate tap. I focus on holding the line and hitting the apex for a fast exit. As for the Indianapolis turn, I never take that fast in online races. it's one of my worst turns in the game.By the way, how do you guys keep your car on the track with contact? At la Sarthe, I was following Nic-KL in 2nd place going into Indianapolis when I got a little contact while braking and went off course. I noticed that before my contact, Nic-KL and the Buick Special had some contact but both kept on the track reasonably well. Am I just reacting too slow, or do you guys anticipate contact and counter-steer accordingly?
Quick question for tonight, is Tom's X540 CHASER considered a tuner?
Edit - I think it is. I'd like to take it for a spin so I might bring it out anyway unless anyone has any objections (those who have raced with me know I'm super slow!)
I know the lines around the track for the most part. I wouldn't call that video a lesson on running the track at all since the car was understeering the entire time. in fact, I'm not sure I put down a single decent lap. On entry, the front tires wouldn't grab and rotate the car until i slowed to a crawl. On exit it would generally run wide again unless I held back on the throttle.re: laguna video
so thats what it looks like back in the pack
Laguna and Nurburgring are the two tracks I have spent most time on in the game (favourites) so I typically do pretty well.
chuyler, I can't tell how good/bad your cornering is because my UOMs are in KM/HR so I can't compare cornering speeds. Your lines can use improvement though.
+1. Great driving and persistence from Leadbedr. There were numerous places he could have just plowed through me but he waited for the right moment. Once he was beside me, I gave him room and he used that to pull ahead. It's much more rewarding to trail someone for a few turns and make a clean pass.I hope some people watch that Laguna video. While I am from from the best driver here, at least Im not dive bombing into Chuyler while trying to pass him.
I wish some of the faster guys would just be a little more patient when passing us slower folk.

Well Tom's is a tuner...but the Chaser is a pretty big and heavy car. I say give it a shot.
About the NSX, I won't race with it but I'm gonna take a few laps during free run with it to see how it is.
At one point I got punted off the track by Nic. He waited for me but even after that I was unable to keep up.
.
Don't worry about it man, I'm on for tonight. Sorry I missed last week...Edit: Depending on Graham, I might join the JDM night. So, if I don't show tonight, try not too cry leadbedr. I know I've been pushing you too good finishes lately, you may not have a draft buddy tonight.
That's also the reason for the rule that you have to switch cars when you win. So I say let people pull out an NSX if they want to... maybe they'll win right away and then they'll have to change cars immediately. At the end of the day, the guys who race in this room do so to have fun so if it is only a couple of people driving the NSX I don't think it is a big deal. Especially if they aren't slaughtering the rest of the field.
