put penalties on heavy, so sick of people punting me off corners because they claim to be faster. You are only faster because you drafted me and used me as a brake :(

I did think it was hilarious on Rome reverse when someone spun in the chicane and i shrieked like a girl, expecting to get blocked/penalized, but i drove right through haha

Also what happened to policing ourselves? When i put someone out on a corner that i knew was dirty or careless, i will pull over and resume racing at the back of the pack or at least behind the person i just screwed up. The top 3 guys seemed to be punting people all over the course and then continuing on their race like they didn't do anything (looking at you AOKIJI)

I think I'm going to give this a shot. My "league" disintegrated (due in part to bad management) and I am looking for low PP racing.

Do you do multiple races every night or just one event? I have my own thing at 630, but after 7ish it's wide open.

don't know about all of them but agreed about aokiji. master of the lean on turns.

Glad you could join us. I've got close to 50 cars set up for 450 pp now. Unfortunately there are only about 5-10 that are competitive. The others were basically failed attempts at making something unique fast.

My rule of thumb lately is to pick something that is around 425-460pp in stock trim. Add a few mods to get it over 450pp then use power reduction to level out the power band a little. Too much power reduction results in a sluggish car. Too little results in a weak narrow power band.

Thanks for the tips Chuyler, I'll give that a try next time.

Thanks for posting that evidence. Here's what I see (bear with me while i play devil's advocate)...

From D3monic's point of view, your turn-in is very late. It almost looks like you are going to miss the turn. In fact, before contact is made, you have already missed the apex of the left-hand rumble strip. However, d3monic's entry is too early and even if you weren't there he still would've put 4 wheels over the right-hand rumble strip. I'm surprised he didn't get a penalty for that. The actual driving line is somewhere between both lines, placing two tires onto each rumble strip.

So his defense might be that he thought you were going to spin out and you weren't negotiating the bus stop correctly. Also in his defense is that he starts braking at almost the same time as you and there was no initial intent to punt you out of the way.

But with that said, he makes no effort to increase brake pressure and avoid you once you finally turn in. In fact, he does the opposite and lets off the brake completely. He never had a nose in front of you coming into the turn so according to GTP OLR he should've backed off. Also according to GTP OLR, the lead driver is allow to late/early apex and/or run any line through turns which inconviences the following driver in their attempt to pass. The only time the lead driver must hold their line is on straights with the one exception being the last lap where the lead driver should be allowed to defend his position against a draft.

In conclusion: D3monic is at fault and should have given up his position as an apology. If the consensus is to ban him, consider him gone. Otherwise I will message him and put him on probation for the next week. He needs to behave and give up his position whenever coming in contact with other drivers. Bump passing is not tolerated.

In the future, I ask that others save replays and document incidents they feel are unfair. I don't have the time to watch all 16 cars in a 20 minute race so providing a video clip like grenade has done would be appreciated. If I race dirty...call me out on it...seriously...I want this to be a community effort.

ohh and don't let all this talk disinterest you bones brigade, it's a lotta fun mostly!! :D

Haha, I have raced enough online to know how it works. I'm not concerned about getting punted off the track, as I usually find the grass enough on my own to ruin my race. But if I can have one or two competitive laps before hitting the kitty litter, I consider it a good race.

In fact, I find this discussion very refreshing. I am glad to see that there are people who respect certain parts of the track and don't assume everything is a passing zone. About the only time I ever win a race is if I start in front and stay there. If I start in the back I pick my spots very carefully and will only advance 2-3 spots over the course of the race. I try to race as much like I would if it were my real car.

Well the reason I was so wide was because I knew d3monic was going to do what he did. I had to stay wide. Otherwise, I would have gotten rear ended into the wall like I normally do by him. I definitely did not have a perfect apex going for me, but is that enough reason for another player to basically guarantee a collision with me?

I can show you several clips from the same video of him rear ending people in corners. I don't like to get people banned as that is not what I am looking for. People should respect other players though and pass fairly.

put penalties on heavy
I can try this if you think it will make a difference. I do know that it will basically end your race if you put a wheel in the wrong place on the track.

What kind of lap times were you guys running at Cape Ring South last night?

Good time overall, other than my problems at Rome with that wall. haha

No...but I was just playing devil's advocate from what I saw, trying my best to remain neutral. You don't need a perfect apex to hold your position...in fact sometimes you don't even want a perfect apex, you just want a line that will prevent the other driver from getting around you. Those who have followed me a lot probably notice I run a tight inside line entering turns to make it bloody obvious that there is no room to cut inside. On exit, I will run whatever line blocks the pass. As a result I run slower...but that's how you protect your position. If someone wants around, they've got to nail an exit turn and/or use the draft.

People get banned through their own actions. I rear ended someone in a lobby in one of my first online races. It was Tsukuba and I hadn't quite learned to brake early when following. I was booted 10 seconds later since it happened to be the lobby leader. Learned my lesson.

I think we ran three enduros on that particular night. Truck night/80s night, we tend to run races that are 15-20 minutes in length and many of them, between 6-10. When Chuyler1 leaves, have the room goes with him. It's like losing the captain of the ship.

LOL. Hey, I'd love to stay up and race till 2:00 in the morning but midnight (EST) is my cut-off for still being able to get up in the morning.

Here is the whole video up to the point where he knocked me off the track. One thing I noticed was that he basically rear ended someone every single corner there was someone to rear end. Also, after the chicane, he would have knocked the honda out onto the grass if it hadn't hit the car dead in the center of the track (@1:36)

I wouldn't say he's racing real dirty or anything. Just late braking and bumping non stop which is annoying and in my case, can cause me to wreck.

By the way, I was thinking of turning one of my evenings into a series. Crazy8 is part of one and got my head spinning about this idea. It fits into the tuning we've been doing here, except the format will be designed to give different drivers an advantage every week...provided they can keep their car on the track.

Start with cars on a budget and run one long race each week. After the race, credit allowances are handed out based on finishing order. Slower drivers get more credits which will hopefully make them faster the next week. Coming into the race, you really won't know who is going to be fastest...but you'll have plenty of laps to familiarize yourself with your car and hunt down the slower cars.

I understand. I stop at 1:00AM, or whatever gives me at least 6 hours of sleep. I made the mention just to show your popularity in the series.

Well I'm flattered :embarrassed:

I wish I could designate a successor when I leave but I think it just defaults to whoever has been in the room the longest. I don't want people to quit racing on my account. All I do is pick the track once the rules and regulations are set.

BTW, if someone wants to run this room at other times, start friending the regulars (if you haven't already) and you are welcome to host. Thursdays I get home late and Fridays/Saturdays I am typically doing stuff with my wife.

I can keep a host list in the first post. For example, since I get home late on Thursday, if someone wants to volunteer to open a room at 9:15-9:30 that would be great. I'll join in when I get home if there is still room.

Nope, all are welcome as long as you know your way around the track and are familiar with the GTP OLR posted in the first post.

So where is this room, I'm trying to find it. You should post the numbers in here when you open a room.

Glad you finally added me Chuyler, I didn't see the room anywhere in the open lobby.

apparently my network is not compatible.

I've been driving terribly today though, so I suppose it's for the best.

Well this sucks two weeks ago everything was fine for me now when we get more than a dozen cars on the track my connection goes to crap. Restarting the modem doesn't help. Anyone have any other ideas? I love racing with you guys but I'm getting tired of being called "that laggy <insert car model>."

I might suggest updating the firmware on your router or possibly change it to tomato / ddwrt (depending on the router model).

The fact that this problem has arisen recently leads me to believe its not a hardware issue though so im not really sure whats going on.

If you are using cable internet you could trying connecting the modem to a jack closer to where the cable comes into your house (before its been split too many times, hard to do this in an apartment complex though). If you are using the wireless settings on your ps3 you might try wired.

Also as a side note i really think people should keep their chatter about whos bumping / driving dirty / whatever until the -end- of the race. Not everyone has a mic to use to defend themself and dealing with accusations of foul play while trying to race focused is aggravating.

Im not against people talking during the race at all, just people talking about what should / shouldnt have happened with their car. blah.

That's probably all related back to me. Sorry :(. I wasn't really calling you out as much as being upset about going off track. Obviously, it came out a bit more harsh then I meant it to be. That's why i talked to you after the race. Sorry mate.

Its all good, I realize people get upset when crap happens, i just thought it might be a good idea to tone it done during the races so everyone has a more enjoyable run.

I think it comes down to people having a different mindset / attitude about the game. Being serious and focused while being lighthearted and hilarious is possible imo, most people dont fit in that category tho =[

I really need to get a good mic setup :<

That's basically how I race. I'm lighthearted and making jokes till I get run off the track. Then I am dead serious in my implications!!!! lol.

I am more vocal then most and that's not always a good thing.

Now that its post race...I would like to implicate that lego created matte green 240rs. I cant remember who drives:sly: it but he's all over the place and loose, really loose. Then he goes flying off the track at random corners for little to no reason. I just had a thought, maybe he's dropping back on purpose to make the race more exciting? Wonder why he keeps qualifying at the front of the pack when he just wants to be have through a pack.

:lol::lol:

EDIT: This was in jest--in case that needs clarification
