I hope I've entered in time? I got an "entry successful" message, so fingers crossed. Just to be certain of the regulations, I can use any road car as long as it's not nitrous equipped, has SH tyres, and 500pp or less with no more than 5% power limiter? So my tuned Ferrari Dino '71 should be okay?

Road car 👍
No nitrous 👍
Sports Hard Tyres 👍
<5% engine limiter 👍

Ferrari Dino '71 :scared:

See you tonight and good luck.

I take it I'm going to need it then? Is this going to Bathurst all over again? If there are better suggestions I'd be glad to hear them - I do have a Corvette and a Tuscan Speed Six that'd appear to fit the bill if they might be a better choice?

Half an hour with the Dino (never having driven it before in a high state of tune, and never having driven Apricot Hill backwards before either) I've given up on that idea. Twitchy doesn't begin to do it justice. Back to the drawing board!

Clarkster! If the rooms not full tonight, would it be improper of me to equip myself and come in or even just to watch?

More so to determine if my newly fixed Internet is stable or not.

Toyota 86gt is a pretty handy car if you have one.

If there's space, by all means.

Thank you sir.

That sounded bad now I read it back. If I could devote more time to GT6, 500pp Club and your other ventures would see me as a regular.

But the deal I've got with the cackling woman heard over my mic often determines it's pretty much SC or nothing. I know you know that sort of thing mate.

Dont think I will make it tonight as WE are over the other side of the city as I type this,in the jacks/Toilet... Good luck all... That spot for Scholesy is now open..

Thanks Warren, thing is I got blasé, that Paddy McGuinness show is on now and we all know what day it is.

Can't argue with the Coleens today.

Gonna try to squeeze on later if practice goes ahead.

After last year's outing at Apricot Hill Reverse. I was entering this race to prove something to myself. That I can get the S2000 (too much car for me, apparently )around at a decent pace.
I believe I achieved that tonight.

Great racing from everyone. It falls to @weescotman to pick the next track for a couple of weeks time. Will he surprise us, with his choice?

Here's a couple of snaps. That will also be added to post #2.

I hope the new faces enjoyed themselves. I enjoyed having you.

I had a lot of fun and learned a fair bit, and despite running last most of the time (having had to pit after a handful of laps due to heavy damage after an encounter with the barrier, as well as being woefully off the pace) it was a great experience. Thanks to @CTR Driver for hosting the event and suggesting the Toyota, and to all the other drivers for allowing a beginner to join in!

Thank you for having the gumption to take up the challenge. Even more so when you consider yourself a beginner.

OP updated with some results from our Apricot Hill jaunt.

Your considered use of the primera, makes me revisit my thoughts of running a "drive what you own" event.

Still waiting on a track decision.

And just another PSA, please don't bring your fastest 500pp car. Constantly seeing a evora/NSX/Shelby gets old quickly and pushes others to use their fast cars.

Well that won't help my case when I'm trying to get everyone to not use the fastest cars :(

I think the only way to keep the fastest of cars away is through a minimum weight limit.

Third you seem to have a problem with folks car choice, now considering I'm normally working when this event happens I got in the first car I seen, and was comfortable driving. Now I seem to remember you saying about people driving their fastest cars but time and time again you're seen in the evo or nsx. 2 of which are your fastest cars in 500pp, so please stop bleeting on about what cars others use, is getting real old.

I drove an NSX twice, I switched to it after you guys showed up in Evoras.
I drove an RGT once.
EvoX being a top choice? Its 1.5s+ off what I can do in a Lotus/NSX/RX-7. It won me a race where others drove their 70's American muscle (the only race where people actually handicapped themselves more than I did). With 3 drives it's my most frequently used car, definitely not the fastest.

I have yet to turn the keys for one of my go-to 500pp Rotaries since GT6, and most likely won't.

This club was never about the "win at all cost" to me, but about creating a field of roughly equal lap times 1st to 16th. Fast guys in fast cars goes against that mentality. I try to persuade others against the standard low weight 500pp pocket rockets, but if it is so annoying, I might as well stop picking cars like 135i, M Coupe, the Z, EvoX and R32s. Why give myself a 2sec/lap handicap in these cars if the whole gentleman part that this club originated with just gets tossed?

Third, I'm not quite sure who "you guys" is directed at but, there are a variety of drivers and cars utilized in this series and rightly so. Maybe it's PD you should direct your ire at, as it's they that employ the PP rating system which seems so inadequate.Gary could ban certain cars of course, but that would probably lead to another car becoming more superior and so on. Thankfully we're individuals and can do what our concience allows us to.

BTW, you used an RX-7 at Grand Valley.

Third, I appreciate the point you are trying to make. However personally I dont get time to practice in other cars. This is because most of my GT time is spent organizing and running Sunday Cup as well as trying to prepare a team for the GTPlanet endurance series. This takes up an enormous amount of my time, which I dont mind, as I enjoy it. But it leaves very little time to practice and set up numerous cars for this event.

If a weight limit were to be imposed, you would be pricing me out of this, as generally I do use the Elise. However I have never won in it. However I do enjoy racing against the other cars.

With all due respect, you can just show and race. Others have other commitments which mean we can just show and race, but our pickings are limited to what we have fun in.

Well, seeing the "likes" distribution to our little discussion, it seems I represent an unpopular opinion. I guess I'll adapt my car choices as well to make the battle for 4th a battle for 1st again.
