7th GTP F1 World Championship (F1 2010 edition) * SEASON FINISHED :'''( *F1 2010-2016

Are you serious?

Its an excuse , I do feel as if your being watched like a hawk for any minor mistake yes, but my main reason for dropping is I CBA with it now if I'm honest.

Sorry for any inconvenience I've caused, its a great thing you've organised and I hope it al goes well 👍

Believe me, the main goal of this series is to have fun and despite a couple of incidents, it was still easily the most fun i've had racing online to date last Sunday 👍

The whole 'class bollocking' thing was tongue-in-cheek and it's not going to be a regular thing. Seeing as it was the first race, I just wanted to point a few things out so that we can move on for the rest of the season. I fully appreciate that accidents will always happen, it's an inevitable part of racing, but no one can blame me for wanting to cut out the needless, silly ones.

I'm still a little shocked that you've pulled out Jamie given your enthusiasm at the beginning. Are you sure it's not just this that's putting you off? Just so you know, we all had immense fun that night. Internet User and Numb Phase both said it was the most intense racing they've ever had. This Sunday should be even better as it's at Melbourne, which therefore means possible rain. Also Nev will be able to make it this time too so it'll hopefully be a full grid 👍

Jamie should jJust look at that 2nd video that DarkPSI posted to see how good the racing is, particularly from around 530 onwards. Some teriffic stuff going on there.

Yea it does look great, nice and clean + competitive. I'm just being anal

You've give me enthusiasm to stay Shaggy, if thats ok? If my seat is still available can I start this Sunday as opposed to me skipping the first 4 races?

How did the race go after I left people? Did it start raining harder?

Well it got harder in the second and final sector but it stopped in the first sector, but all in all it was a fantastic race I managed to overtake Numb while he was in the pits so it didn't turn out as bad as normal

Glad to hear you're still keen. What I'll do if it's ok is keep Jerry in Jordan, and I'll move you to Brabham as vavie_krk is not responding to any of my messages since before even the first practice race - consider his seat vacated. You therefore will team up with upuaut 👍

Provided Manios can replace CJ for the series then it looks like we have a full house again, and should have it again on sunday this week as Nev will be back 👍

Make sure you're online before 19:30 and I'll send you an invite on sunday Jamie. I'll be free tomorrow night for a practice if anyone is up for it.

Thanks

Yes I can make that but only if my arms are up to it. Went back to the gym for the first time since last August on wednesday there and my arms are far worse today than they were yesterday. Hope i'm recovered by sunday!

Just had our practice, with some interesting results. Was just myself, James, Jamie and Jerry and it finished as so:

1st. Internet_User
2nd. Shaggy_Alonso
3rd. Jamie-C
4th. Jerry786

I qualified on pole on a set of primes, which was only possible because James forgot to turn his engine up during this session :ouch:
Jerry binned his car towards the end of the session, obviously this is only a practice so it doesn't count, but just incase anyone isn't aware, it is in the rules that this is forbidden:

Anyone who destroys their car during qualifying, purposefully or accidentally, will automatically receive a 10 second time penalty added on to their race time. This is to avoid the tactic of purposefully binning your car so as to start the race on a fresh set of tyres. The one exception to this rule is if the driver has not registered a qualifying time when this happens.

Jerry had rotten luck in the race as he got a puncture on lap two which ruined his race and then he got DSQ'd although i'm not sure what for exactly. It could possibly have been for repeated corner cutting as Baumi got DSQ'd for the same thing in another practice race last night. So everyone please be careful - if you get DSQ'd for cutting corners, that's it, your race is over :ill:

Jamie-C showed very promising pace for someone who was totally out of practice with the game and for who GT5 is his 'discipline', not F1. Unfortunately, he was pushing a bit too hard in the race and binned his car.

I pulled out a 10 second lead on James before the first round of pit stops on my prime tyres before I got a puncture right at the start of lap 8 or 9 which lost me heaps of time as I crawled back to the pits, frequently locking up and spinning into the gravel. I pitted for a set of options which were to last me the rest of the race :gulp: I did manage to catch up to James to get within 4 seconds of him but he had me covered and turned his engine back up just as my tyres properly let go and I had to back off by about 3 secs per lap just to avoid spinning.

Fun, fun, fun! Should be another epic encounter this sunday 👍

IT'S GOING TO BLOW YOUR TITS OFF!

:sly:

Seems like Gerry is our Schumi of the championship anyway...Can't wait for the video! :grumpy:

I don't think Jerry's done anything wrong intentionally. And even the ones he has done wrong have been minor offenses. Something which I noticed I was guilty of too. If you watch about 6 mins into the second video, I think I may have taken more than one line on the main straight. I didn't realise I'd actually done this as all I remember is jockeying for position to get past Internet_User and then seeing DarkPSI up my trumpet and moving to the right to cover him off. Such was Dark's closing speed (his engine was turned up, mine was in standard) that I closed the door on him later than I would have done ideally.

Hi guys!

It's a serious possibility then on Sunday I'll be OFF race. My youngest son has 2nd birthday and maybe I can't make it... If on PSN I bee off F1 don't wait for me.

That's a pity you mightn't be able to make it upuaut but I hope your son enjoys his b/day :)

I've uploaded the tables, check the first post. And many thanks go to Sam (DonkeyFuzz) for making these, he did them all himself 👍

May i ask why? I dont understand what Ive done wrong?

...Practice session yesterday for me went pretty badly, Qualified 4th..way off the pace...Was struggling in my first 2 flying laps but just as i was beginning to find my rhythm..i binned it :(

Race..Jumped upto 3rd at the start, Lap 2...I Lost it in turn 4 [That slippery apex again!], clipped internet user as i spun [He got away with it thankfully!] Few laps later..i got a Puncture..Cut corner..Disqualified

Although it was a bad session..I learnt a lot from it ;) See ya on Sunday everyone

Nothing Jerry, don't even know if that dude has raced with you. Very WTF post. I brought up Schumi as a joke last week, meant nothing more by it.

Looking forward to racing with you and everyone else tomorrow!

Hi there,

I'm really excited today and I'm hoping for changing weather conditions. Its really hard to find a nice setup for melbourne and the transition curves are really difficult to match. Melbourne is not my circuit, I'm feeling not so confident like in bahrain, but we will see.
Due to my fault in the first corner last race, today I'm going to brake much earlier for the first corner after start, so be carefull if you are just behind me ;-)

Best regards

DarkPSI

Indeed, very wtf post as James said

So just a quick reminder about tonight, starts at the usual time of 19:30 GMT. Please be online before this and I'll send the invites to the chat and the lobby as per usual.

Anyone who is able to film the GP please do so, as it enriches the post-race discussion 👍

Also, could people please try to take a mental note of what your fastest lap is before the race ends? There's no points given out for this, it's only for the statistics.

See you out on track :)

Yes, early braking is a must for turn one. I think that's possibly something that people were not taking into account at Bahrain which resulted in the incidents, I should have mentioned this. If everyone brakes slightly early there shouldn't be a pile up. Try to keep it nice and clean guys 👍

Shaggy and I were discussing stuff on Thursday when we had a practice race and Shaggy said if everyone apart from the leader brakes a bit earlier than usual we should all make it round turn 1 without incident....good idea?
