My DVD viewing for tonight :D . Get me in the mood.

Blu ray!? I was thinking the same thing. Just listened to Derek Bell's interview, top quality stuff, I loved it.

Peugeot were way further back from Audi in comparison to where Toyota is on their first TEST DAY. But we saw how the gap erased come qualifying.

The thing is though, the R10/12/15 were never good at qualifying, 2011 was there first pole in 7 years I believe.

Audi never had 1 lap pace but always had reliability. And reliability is what ultimately wins Le Mans.

I really hope Toyota can bring the battle to Audi though. Given this is Toyota we're talking about, I don't think we can just cut them too much slack and say job well done if they simply finish the race. I'd say finish the race with a pace that is not too far off the Audis, like they showed in practice sessions, and really go for it next year.
On Radio Le Mans during the test day Anthony Davidson pretty much said that the plan is to be fast rather than not so fast & reliable. He sounded quite open and honest. Makes sense because reliability issues will happen very likely in any case and goal is clearly set for 2013.

And on the other hand, Alex Wurz in the other TS030 said they were going for reliability. So two cars two different approaches? They could be trying to throw their competition off, we'll see on race day as to what they're really gonna go for. In my opinion, they're just gonna go all out with both cars, reliability comes with knowing the car, so Le Mans is going to be one huge shakedown.

This picture is too amazing for words...These cars look the business! So cool!

Am I the only one who loves the sound of the Audi e-trons? They sound like nothing else! Unreal! Especially under braking.

Sounds very futuristic on the inside, but on the outside sounds very quiet.

Said where?

Davidson interview is here (from Radio Le Mans): http://audio.rpix.org.uk/lm24/2012/2012_lm24_testday_1.mp3

Starts after 1:36.30

It was on Radio Le Mans, I'll have to dig it up but I distinctly recall them saying that about the two different approaches they noted from separate talks with both drivers during test day.

Don't bother looking for "proof" Wardez, I heard it too during the Radio e Mans Test Day live coverage, I guess two forum members reporting the same is proof enough. (in this serious forum, not the Rumble Strip or Gran Turismo kiddie sections LOL).

Lol, true that man.

But hey, thought you guys might think this was cool. I commissioned some art from a friend, he's a comic artist and I asked him to make me a poster pin-up for the Le Mans GT5 3 hour race I'm hosting this Sunday and he came through very well. I just grabbed some of the framing and stamps from the actual 2012 poster then added me series logos and adapted it to mine, here's the result, link to the series in my sig'. Yes the blue "CALM" text is clickable:

Original poster art drawn by David Rivera:

Better make that three then because I heard it as well! It made Hindy comment on a split strategy for the two Toyota's.

@ TT: That settles it then ;)

@ Wardez: that's a very cool poster. I'm kind of gutted for not entering this one, but I'll be away from home this weekend and, ever since the "two-class" Spa Event (the one I finished behind you IIRC), I think I played GT5 maybe twice, so I'm out of practise anyway. Wish you all the luck and success for your event, can't wait to go back to more serious online racing soon.

Isn't it normal for multi-car teams to have "hares" and "tortoises"? I thought this is what Audi and Peugeot have always done (and its been done for years)? There is usually one car told to go as fast as possible to try and force their competitors to try and match the pace and increase the reliability problems while the other car(s) are told to reliably finish the race.

Ok, I believe it. But still would be nice to know even an estimate at what part of the RLM coverage it was. ~9 hours of podcasts is bit too much go through. :sly:

Its about time we started something that a few social groups on GTP started doing - changing your avatar and profile to that of the team you are following at this years Le Mans. I'm following the Aston Martin's in GT, who are you rooting for?

Done. Changed mine to protest Bobby Rahal and his idiocy, with regards to throwing away a perfectly good chance to
A. Get sponsor exposure on the world stage
B. Own on Corvette
C. Represent the ALMS

I have an Avatar of the Aston Martin GTE, but I already used it a while back.

I did the same thing last year, but never bothered to change it afterward. I guess it'll work this year. :P

Does anyone miss the Cool/Tacky way that Aston Martin used the number 007 for so long? Why did that stop?

Looks like the numbers are by class now, probably part of the WEC rules. LMP1 gets 1-22, LMP2 gets 23-50, and the GTE classes get 51-99. Aston Martin's running 97 and 99 this year.

Nice video Furinkazen 👍 Some drivers cut that last chicane like those immature kids I find in GT5 online races.
