Just found a video someone took from the Corvette onboard stream of the crash.

My goodness. I mean it's a massive hit but you still see guys walk away from those kinda crashes...

I really don't know what to say.

What a way to mark Aston Martin's 100th anniversary.

I have to say, I saw something was up. If it impacted on the passenger side, why was 1 door also heavily damaged hanging off on the other? I reckon the car went in backwards, hence the split barrier, and perhaps it penetrated the car (Like Kubica's accident).

RIP Allan Simonsen.

Well, maybe...

Just seen that video. :(

Can I remind everyone it is against the GTP AUP to post fatal crash videos.

EDIT: Just seen the message, won't post the video here. Just type Allan Simonsen crash on Youtube and it's one of the first results, the Corvette onboard.

Which side was he sat, was it left hand drive or right? If it's right...oh God...:nervous:

Rest in Peace indeed. While I didn't know the driver, it's a definite loss to motorsports and definitely darkens the mood as Shoe67 said.

In my opinion, it's excusable by now because we're not doing it for entertainment but rather for information purposes. No good replay was shown of the incident and I'm personally still clueless on how the crash happened. It also doesn't look inmensely grotesque. For new, and as long as we do it with the respect it diserves, I think it's fair.

This hurt, it's the first time I've witnessed a fatal crash live on TV and the first time I've head to report on it. It's a tragic loss, he was a very talented driver... R.I.P Allan, you'll be missed.

This...For all you people that have a low post count (makes me think you aren't aware), go back and read the AUP. Don't cause trouble for the thread due to your lack of ability to read the rules.

You don't see the actual crash happening in the onboard-video, you only see how he spun out right before the crash. Is it still against the AUP?

Rip Simonsen, always terrible when this happens at any race event, terrible for his family, the spectators and Motorsport in general, I hope the next 20 hours provide some safe and fantastic racing that is fitting memory to Simonsen. My thoughts are with his family and the Aston martin team. I just hope it isn't a mechanical failure that caused the crash.

I thought he was awake and talking to the doctors?

And yet we had some reports saying CPR was required. Conflicting. The killer for me was when I saw twitter news of a statement coming. Usually these things are just mentioned on the news and passed into the booth.
