Made it to 6th with totally stock Range Stormer. Funny to watch replay of that Wildebeast with all those rally cars...
I see a lot of you winning pretty easily with stock cars, so I must stink at dirt tracks. Can someone please suggest a car and a tune that help the dirt track challenged like myself. Thank you very much!
Anyone won this with the Stratos?
My big objective with that car is to keep the back from becoming the front![]()
Tip for racing snow/dirt with a FF wheel: turn FF off! It takes a little while to get used to how sensitive the steering is, but you do get rid of the heavy vibrations, and that fearful feeling that the wheel will shatter!
Here's a tune...

Just a quick tune, but will run sub 6 minutes...
I had a couple of goes with it, but not managed to get any higher than 3rd so far... might do it with a proper tune, but it's bloody difficult to keep it in a straight line![]()

Notes :
The real car is not yet released, but I already made a would be replicaOkay, the TMG 86GT CS R3 rally car is for 2015 season. Based on CS V3 Cup success, TMG plan to enter the rally world with FR 86GT. With different R3 rules than VLN V3, the car has less weight, more power and upgraded with mechanical LSD, rally spec suspension, and sequential gearbox.
The replica is WIP, meaning when the car actually released with additional infos, I will update the tune to reflect the new spec. In the mean time, this will do, built for tarmac, dirt and snow, the tune works for all surfaces, 3 sets of tires ( SM, Dirt and Snow ). The R3 replica tested and tuned at Toscana, Chamonix, Matterhorn, and Eiger Trail.
Have fun sliding with 86 GT, the FR heaven
UPDATE : Added TMG Base Alignment in the suspension setup and revised ARB, original ARB value now OPTIONAL. Fixed toe value.

Notes :
I have this Stratos since release day, used often on cruise lobby online on lesser state of tune. I decided to tune up to 500PP. The weight kept at stock level, with weight distribution fixed to replicate real life car spec ( HF Stradale ). I removed the rear spoiler and installed rally style front lights
Using Gr4 spec suspension, LSD and gearing. Suspension comes from Eibach Gr 4 ERS springs, Bilstein Damper with conservative 450/475 spring rate, while LSD from Gr 4 ZF plate based LSD with max lock set at 40%. For gearing, I used Gr 4 Stratos HF Rally close ratio gearset to make sure the engine stays on the sweet spot range.
With the tune, this Stratos Turbo HF Stradale works on comfort soft and below if you are a throttle master, all sports tire and also has been tested on racing hard with good result. Minor differences with the 450PP, the front ARB has been increased, higher rear toe in for better traction/stability. LSD initial torque has been adjusted to reflect the higher engine torque. Turbo kit has been installed, giving much higher torque and peak HP. Final gear 2.824 is highly recommended for high speed tracks like Nordschleife.
Tuned and tested at Tsukuba, Bathurst, Big Willow, Nurb GP/F and NordschleifeThe car is pretty stable, with good rotation, always brake smoothly, apply a bit of throttle when lifting the brakes to avoid excessive rotation. When the car pushes/understeer, reduce throttle - do not lift off all of a sudden, modulate at around 50%, this will make the car rotate smoothly. And lastly, do not jerk the steering when on a curve or driving at high speed, the car do not like rough steering input

Notes :
Made this special build Legacy Wagon for @Ronald6, the tune has been slightly tweaked for more rotation/less understeer under braking. The tune works on both tarmac and dirt/snow. Lower the ride height if preferred when driving on tarmac with comfort/sports tire - maintain equal height. An early build tune, please let me know if anything needs improvement.
Put a wing on it (), use the grass areas as much as you can and you should be able to win it. Oh and try to have the Delta S4 or something slower as a rabbit
I did it with ~260hp and stock weight. More power makes it harder to handle the car and less weight doesn't really seem to have much effect here...
Really different, the MINIVAN!!!
Used my DS3 which I'm not good with (my G27 brakes pedal is stuck on,) so plenty of time left to pick up.

Should be easier then
Got close, but didn't quite manage to overtake the Quattro

About the same total time, but the Quattro was slower now. I did one 6:14.xxx too, but the Quattro was over 2 seconds quicker![]()
:-) I mostly play when the wife and kids are all asleep, so I run 2/7 on my old G25. Except for dirt/snow, where I simply unplug the FF.Yeah, I just turned mine down to 5/5 on the FF and such on the G-27 otherwise the wife said it has to go outside?? Was OK after that. I normally run 8/10!!
Cheers, Pete
Not so much the car, but how you approach the track... any of the 4WD WRC cars will win the event easy enough.
In true rally driver style, make sure you're cutting wherever you can - there's a huge amount more grip on the grass at the side of the track than there is on the dirt, so cutting gives BIG advantages. Avoid going sideways as much as possible as this slows you down... OK to get the rear sliding a bit on entry, but you want the car straight by the apex so you get a faster exit.
I just ran one where the AI Quattro did a 6'04
Rubberbanding FTW
👍 👍 👍
Here's a guy who knows what he's talking about.
I suspect some RL rally driving experience here . . .![]()
Try using car that slower on the straight I will sometimes get hit by the second car. Kkk ...
I was very bad at off-road in GT5, and was bad in Gt6, but in careermode i got that off-road and surprized myselfHelp please. I've tried a few cars. Best outcome is the Quattro S1 in 3rd place at 6:35. This is after several tries. I'm using a Praiano tune powered down to 500. Dr P is usually my goto guy but he doesn't have any rally cars from what I can see.
I see a lot of you winning pretty easily with stock cars, so I must stink at dirt tracks. Can someone please suggest a car and a tune that help the dirt track challenged like myself. Thank you very much!

I finally got my gold after PD took pity and also served up a 6:24 Peaugeot 205 rabbit, that was easy pass before the house hairpin for the lead. 6:15 and below rabbits very tough. Mitsubishi Lancer Super Rally car '03 with SRF on for the checkered flag. This is also different., (GT6 starting car), wife 1.5cc car. Sure win, other than the Quattro too far at the starting point cos this is FWD 470 pp. Haha... ( Used Ds3, steering wheel more fast)
