about the time limit... i suppose that the demo on the magazine doesn't have one, can anyone confirm? cause if it's exactly the same demo (minus time limit), then a patch it's not too far on the horizon.

My copy with the booklet is due to arrive via UPS in the next few hours. I will report back then.

Cold feet Kamus?

The demo everyone is talking about does actually come from that magazine, so why should it be without a time limit?

Exactly.. the one that everyone's downloading IS the one from the magazine. There's only one demo. It'd be like buying multiple copies of one issue OPM in the hopes that you get a different disc in the next one.

Come on children we've had this pathetic argument over online mode too many times. SaintKamus I suggest you get over that there is no more online mode for the moment, go find something else to moan about.

how bout no? you can just skip my posts if you don't like them. This forum is for discusion, and i'm not going to stop at the request of some guy that doesn't like my posts. so screw you.

it does? i thought this demo was from TGS. that's the reason for the time limit, so people wouln't have to wait too long in line to play.
same deal w/ the BMW demo.

Wow, temper, temper. Do you ever chill out? If you want to gripe about a mode that nobody even got to play go find an online thread to do it in, not this one. You do realise I’m not going to read any post from someone who is too lazy to even provide the slightest bit of legibility.

If you can’t put forward an argument in proper English that makes the slightest bit of sense there is no hope for you. Just get over it.

Good luck with your petition, I mean 212 signatures is going to make that much of a difference.

Early reports said it was the TGS demo, but it's clearly not. Remember, KY displayed B-spec at TGS.. this demo has no B-spec. It also had a lot more cars and tracks than this demo does.

Time limits are generally placed in demos that will be playable to the public.. as you mentioned, SK, to keep people from just sitting there and hogging the game all day by doing endless laps. Why they put it in demos that are meant to be played at home is anyone's guess. Surely they must understand how frustrating it is not to be able to complete a lap at the 'Ring (or even see half the track, for that matter, unless you drive it backwards). Hell, in the Toyota demo, I have to cheat like hell just to get the Prius to finish a lap inside the two minutes.

So basically we don't know why the time limit's there.. we may never know. It's there, and that's that.

If they release it here in the U.S., at least I'll be able to kick ass on the first third of the 'Ring when the full game comes out.

I have a feeling quite a few of us will kick butt on up to T3 at the nurburgring, hahaha. I'm really getting the hang for it. I am also getting the hang for driving the backside in reverse.

It is funny that managing to see one more turn or straightaway under the time limit is a goal.

Must...get...to...the...Karussell...

haha!

In the GT-R I can get a little past "wehrseifen" going forward

in reverse I can just get into "wippermann"

Trying to push it more but "karussell" is unreachable from eaither direction in the time limit in the GT-R.

I can get like three turns away going backwards...Have you even caught sight of it yet?

I bet if we could trick the AI to go backwards, the Viper would get there.

Nope! Few turns away myself.

Definitely backwards is the only way.

Here's a map for those unfamiliar.

I should try some wall-riding action and see if that helps at all...I can almost get to Hohe Acht with clean lines.

P.S. Someone who is familiar with Magic 3.1 mod chips, please PM me, I have questions.

Wall riding doesn't work in this demo like it did in GT3. The only way you could get near it is with dead clean and perfect laps.

I'm going to give it a few tries myself right now....

I guess it isnt available anymore? :( I tried going at GTKnights, but all I got was a tiny .rar file with bittorent file in it. Am I missing something?

Speaking about a GT4 Demo, I just got the Sony Playstation Underground Holiday Demo Disc in the mail on Saturday. The first page was GT4, and it had two whole pages. The other demos either had one page, or shared a page with a different game. It makes me believe I would have had the GT4 Demo right now it it hadn't been delayed.

You wouldn't happen to have a scanner, by any chance, would you, SL? ;)

This seems to point to a possible OPM demo in the near future, since PSU is the one that puts those together.

Sorry, no scanner. I don't see much of a need to have one. It wouldn't matter if I had one, anyhow. I gave the demo disc away since I had all but two of the demos already. I subscribe to OPM.

Yeah, I figured I would get the two I was missing in the next issure. If not, it doesn't matter. I didn't like the two games anyhow.

Yeah, I figured OPM will have the first demo of GT4. I hope it comes in the next month issue. Which is February.

Actually, I got like a quarter mile further along with wall-riding, heh. But still, dead clean perfect driving would be better, because I wasn't to that point yet anyway.

Has anyone noticed the new sounds in the replays when the car goes whizzing by the camera. Whoooosh! Real cool.
Yeah, I noticed that too, it's really cool coupled with the new engine sounds :dopey:

Yikes! I can get to the "km 8" mark, just past wehrseifen, on the posted map going forwards, but can only get to Eschbach going backwards. First of all I don't know the backwards route all that well, so I may be able to do better later, but it takes me a good 11 seconds or so to get properly turned around and accelerating in the backwards direction...any tips on how to turn around faster?

Regarding the tracks on the disc: if you watch the demo replays in the game you can see various other cars on various other tracks. This, to me, raises the question - are those replays simply video files, like a mpeg, that are playing off the disc, or they being generated by replay data, meaning that those tracks and cars are on the disc?

Those are not Mpeg videos. The track data has to be there or the replay file couldn't render the replay.

Codes, Ripkit? VV where are you and are you working on cracking this demo wide open? :sly:

Which also means the Renault-Alpine A110 and various other cars are on the disc too :D

T'would be awesome if we could remove the time limit and access the other cars and tracks...

No real tip for turning around, use the time trial mode, it starts you on the front straight and throw it into reverse as soon as the aut drive is off.

I got just past "wehrseifen" last night, almost to the "km8" mark. The GT4 track map is slightly different up there an any track map I can find on the web. I think the layout is the same but the GT4 one is more detailed, thus more twists and turns.

I got onto the straight going into "karussell" last night, the very top of it, if I zoomed in on the replay I could kinda see it in the distance, I'm not sure how much more there is there. I once said it was unreachable, but now I don't know. I think there is at least another 5-10 secs (with a perfect turn around) to be gained which would let one at least enter the karussell.

But my best T3 is around 1'48.xxx something, I've seen people doing 1'45.xxxs so a few more seconds will allow me to get past the km8 mark, or there abouts.

good fun, good fun.
