Jedi2016
Considering the amount of skill required to maintain drifting in high-powered cars, I don't know if I'd call the physics "forgiving". I mean, I like to consider myself a pretty decent GT driver, but I can't drift to save my life.. lose it almost every single time.
The plethora of videos out there showing cars spinning out twelve ways to Sunday on the Nordschleife says there's nothing wrong with the physics engine.
The TC really gets in the way.
With the MR2 and street tires I can easily "race drift" a faster time up to the T3 at the 'Ring than I can going in with full grip. Doing my best "Stefan Rosier" impressions. It makes me even more stoked for the real game and an actual RUF CTR yellowbird. Considering 4 of the 5 (except the skyline r34) cars in the demo I wouldn't ever drive or give a second look at if I had other choices, I like them alot, well except the RX-8, then again i didn't like it in GT3. I've been watching Stefan's lines (in the faszination video) up to T3 and trying to follow them as close as I can using the same "back end out style" with the MR2. I can follow it pretty close. What is really cool is that the bumps in the circuit that thrown Stefan's CTR off into a turn are there in the demo, they do the same to my MR2. Plus the way the curbs effect the car match closely to the video.
I'd say the physics are pretty "real" (for a video game).
The Rx-7 is pretty good too, though not as loose as the MR2. Even throwing the Falken GTR into a turn hard and slipping the back end around is nice. Because of the TC you need to literally "throw" the GTR into the turn to get it to slip like you would want....going in with more speed than you would think and turn ALL the way in to jam the car around. Not exactly smooth driving or "proper technique"but again that damn TC and gets in the way! Not to mention the AWD, though it isn't so bad, kinda nice, lets you hook the car back up earlier, but you need to go in hard to hit the apex earlier in order to use it's added grip out....
OH and can I say. I completely don't "get" photo mode. Neither how to use it nor why I would use it. Just seems sorta cheesy to me. It's cool it's in there for those who like it, but I'll be pissed it is one of the reason GT4 is being held up time after time.
B-Spec mode sounds cool though, I hope a demo surfaces with that in it.
Now if I can only figure out how to get the BMW demo working.....to compare between GT4p/bmw demo/this recent demo of course.
