same here, there'd be 8 cars in single player too, but fact is, there aren't maybe 2 spectators (or more possible, because they say "even more players")
Could be that taking out AI frees up some CPU to render more cars, but you just can't tell with that translation...8 player network races would be fantastic though.

You select the car you want to drive and the course you want to race, CPU cars will be partecipating at the race, too.
Could that be selecting opponents? Need better translations...

I wonder what difficulty the demo is set to...

woooo, hybrid time! :D

Maybe it means 8 PS2's at once - 6 players and 2 spectators? I can't imagine 8 cars being possible.
A few days ago, I've read *somewhere* that GT4 will be able to accept up to eight connected PS2 in the LAN mode : six 'PS2 racers' and two 'PS2 spectators' ...

... and now I desesperately search where I've read this information ... :banghead:

It'd be nice to have this info confirmed, because there are 8 starting grid position lines on the japanese demos' "trial mountain", where GT3 only has 6. This looks like there really could be 8 human drivers.

Cheers,

That would be fantastic. That Trial Mountain grid positions observation is an interesting point...

It's too bad there's no dirt track in this new demo.

Wasn't my idea though, "derdoc" from the German GT forum noticed this.

(this was not too much difficult... but it still sounds weird)

Skilled and self-confidant people may seek challenge in race by adjusting the degree of difficulty. Opponent cars are fast!

Lets Hope so! :)

omg teh h0rr0r!!1, it seems the physics will be waaaaaay to forgiving again :(

are you serious? You knwo nothing from watching a "replay". For all we know he could be sliding and coasting, which is very easy to control in any car, and it's not a "drift" it's just a slide, and all that is required is an opposite lock and proper correctional steering...

With out seeing the throttle input and steering input there is no way to "assume" that the game is forgiving, ESPECIALLY with TCS on (you do know it's the TRACTION control system, and it will give/take power when necessary to regain control, so if you lose control with just a power slide, a light tap of the gas will give you gained momentum and return the possibility of control).

I dunno, you just seem to bother people at times for no reason, consider ALL factors in a video with out any speculation, THEN make a conclusion...you do not do this.

Ok, here is the first scan. More in the next few hours.
Merc Mclaren SLR and daimler motor carriage. Not the tricycle.

Is it me or is that a Audi R8C in the left hand corner of that pic?

I can judge things from a replay, if I see the car going at 300kmph through a hairpin I know it's not realistic AND FFS IT'S NOT ABOUT THE THROTTLE INPUT OR WHATEVER, the first slide he does is at such an angle which would not let you recover in a racing prepared car.

omg, I just saw something too forgiving and got sad because I want GT4 to be the best with al those cars and tracks, I'm not bothering people for fun you #*@(U

Um, that is Samberto's avatar, signifing that the images belong to him. LOL! Nice try though.
LOL
I guess I should have looked more closely :P
It would be great to have a R8C in the game though. Would go nicely with the Bentely EXP 8. And they should have release a demo in the US....
Maybe a updated prologue or something. Oh well, at least Ace Combat 5 and GTA: SA will keep me busy till GT4 comes out :)

Here is a scan taken from the museum section of the preview booklet.
Note the white Toyota 2000 GT on the right.
I’ll attempt to scan the entire booklet today, and find somewhere to upload larger files for greater quality.

Btw, the flashing triangle, isn't that some sort of stability management or something? An unrealistic driving aid just to help people with the DS2?
If so, maybe in the final version in simmode without the stability management and with full racing slicks it'll be less forgiving. ;x

and thanks for the pics :)

edit:

hmm, I wonder if we can now choose different tyre compounds which are all simulation, instead of the special simtyres we had in GT3

It will be interesting to see what driving aides appear in the full game. There is a section on it in the booklet that I hope to scan today.

Dev Zero, thanks for the uploading tip. :)

Jesus lord go watch the video again. Only ONCE does he have a SERIOUS angle, and you can CLEARLY see the overcorrection etc, TCS and ASM maintain control of the car. LISTEN. AT EACH powerslide, there is NO throttle, it's coasting, THEN when hes out of the slide, and heading STRAIGHT, he gives it throttle, it's called WEIGHT TRANSFER and it STABALIZED the car ALONG WITH the TCS AND ASM. The ASM is what keeps the car from SPINNING out on BRAKING. YOU clearly do NOT understand a lot driving techniques. THIS was an EXTREMELY simple POWER SLIDE and NOT a drift. and with ALL of the assists on, you cannot tell that it is TOO FORGIVING regardless of what you think. you are ill informed and need to educate yourself before you come in here spewing babble to people. Don't even get my started on you wanting GT4 to be the best...you point it out as horror and you are ALWAYS doing this, but yet you defend anything negative about Forza and other cheeze ball racers. Give me a break. You probably watched the video once and assumed that it was too simple, but YOU are either

a) too simple
b) just don't care

because he was NEVER "maintaining" a drift. That would require throttle input and MUCH more counter steering, rather than a simple ONE turn op. lock. the drift wasn't even through the ENTIRE turn, he slides into it. You just need to stop where you are, watch the video, and discontinue any uninformed arguments...because you're not getting yourself anywhere.

It's the traction control that can't be turned off in the demo :(

I never gave the driving assists much thought while I was playing through GT3, but as I've gone back and replayed it (not from scratch, just for kicks), I've turned it off. The only exception is with the hybrids (many of them are impossible to control without them), and with cars that have buttloads of power, I'll leave the TCS on a low setting, but I always turn off the ACS.

For what it's worth, I just emailed SCEA, asking about the demo. Chances are I'll wait a week or so only to get a response of "We don't have that information...", but it was worth a shot. I'll report back if I hear anything.

I mean, seriously.. there's no reason NOT to release the demo here, especially with the recent delay. Hell, the thing's already done. AND it's already got the localization. All they have to do is change the Region coding over to U/C and ship it out. You think they'd care that more people have downloaded the demo than have bought it... If they release it here, they wouldn't have to worry about that.

V8高馬力の豪快さが売りのアメ車は’70年代中盤からダウンサイジングに。

The excitement of high powered V8s sold with american cars has been downsized (in GT4) from the middle seventies.

国産ハイパワー車も軒並みパワーダウン。スポーツカー不毛の時代だった。

Domestic (JDM) high powered cars also make their apperance (I can't really make much sense of what it's said just before the japanese full stop). Speaking of sports cars, It's been an unproductive period.

POWER SLIDE and NOT a drift.

I think (maybe I'm wrong) a power slide is actually using bootfuls of throttle to slide the rear, usually done coming out of a turn, as opposed to a drift, which slides going into the turn. However, I agree with you - in the video is not a drift, just a slide by weight transfer, and it was un-naturally corrected by the traction control, which can not be turned off in the demo. :)
