about the japanese demo

Remember, the Japanese do things "weird" sometimes.. Take the MGS games, for example.. Circle is used to confirm, X to back out. Normally, in U.S. games, it's X to confirm, Triangle to back out. Wonky, I tells ya... wonky...

That's why I am so screwed playing Japanese games after playing US games for weeks ... or vice versa
always pressing the wrong button

Every time I start that game I get it wrong for the first 5 minutes...

S-Video, added a little bit of sharpness with sharpness filter (the difference is not really significant with or without) and the card has been calibrated (on contrast/brightness and chroma/luma delay).
I still can't get DScaler to give me screenshots as nice as yours. How much of the quality do you think the S-video adds over the standard cable? Oh yeah, and what version of DScaler are you using?

I imagine S-video does quite a bit. It's a split-signal, with luminance carried separate from the color channel (at least, I think that's how it works.. it's been a while since I've done any reading on it). Even on a normal television, S-video can yield a much cleaner image than the normal composite cable. I remember seeing it demonstrated on a friend's TV, back in the Playstation days. He had both the composite and the S-video hooked up the TV, so he was able to switch back and forth at will, and there was a definite improvement on the S-video, everything was much sharper, more defined edges.

Me, I'm still stuck in the stone-age.. hehe. My TV doesn't even have S-video, so all my games and even my DVD player still run on ye olde tyme composite cable.

S-Video is night and day comparing to composite (AV cable) when it comes to sharpness and resolution.

I am using DScaler 4.1.11.

Did you guys know that there is finally a way to remove the timelimit?
here is the source
http://ruliweb.dreamwiz.com/ruliboa...ble=gr_gt&page=2&num=36498&find=&ftext=&left=
Using X-PLODER, PAR
M ECB78224 1456E79B
code to stop the time 1CB97868 3894E7A5

Timelimit counter stop
4CB97868 1456E7A5
Pause counter stop
1CBBF4BC 1456E7A5
4CBAA068 1456E7A5
Not sure what he meant here but in my knowledge, he says the pause stop code will not make you return to the main menu

Switched over to Binori(way i read Korean) patch
PCPX_966.49
001F0740: FF 00
001F0741: FF 00

sorry, I am not a computer genius and I have no idea what these are but I hope whoever understands this will remove it for gtplanet! =)

Excellent news. Does somebody know how to convert the code to Action Replay Max?

As I read in that Korean site, people refer some programs as "Ackple" which is short-term of saying Action Replay in my guess. So I guess you can use Action Replay Max with those codes above to remove it.

10 U.S dollars via Paypal for conversion of the code into Action Replay Max. I greatly desire a full lap in the GTR…

Edit: oh, code must also work

EDIT: The code below didn't work for my Xploder V4 PAL version. I don't want to test all the other Xploder versions since that requires me burning a ton of discs :P

Using X-PLODER, PAR
M ECB78224 1456E79B
code to stop the time 1CB97868 3894E7A5

wow ... let's see who can figure out the binary process
hope that works

edit> I can find 001F0740, but I cant find 001F0741

Hey thanks heapz for the codes guys, it realli worked!!! I can now finally complete a whole lap of the ring without that pesky timer. The timer is still there but it doesnt count down, so yippee. I've been waiting for a patch or codes and finally someonw has delivered!! Just so yous know, i tried the x-ploder codes with the Xploder V4, but it doesnt work with it for some reason, but i just happen to have an old (much older) version of the X-ploder cheat disc thankfully. I think its version 1.0 or 2.0 or sumfin like that. And it freakin works!!
I can now get to the bloody krarusell (is that how u spell it?) and can also do endless laps in time attack mode. Too bad i cant catch that freakin viper on the bloody ring, especially with 2 long laps.

Hope some of you get it workin also too!!!!

You lucky devil… when you finish your next lap of the ring, can you fill us in on the region of your Xploder?

Yeah, I also tried "Using X-PLODER, PAR, M ECB78224 1456E79B code to stop the time 1CB97868 3894E7A5" with Xploder V4 but it didnt work.

phat_khanht > Is this the same codes you used and exactly which version of Xploder did you use??

I always thought that PAL cheat discs (Xploder) dont work with NTSC games (GT4-J demo).

Im going to try PCPX_966.49
001F0740: FF 00
001F0741: FF 00

Looks like some simple hex editing or something.

I guess I'll wait for a .ppf fix :) Even if I use an old Xploder, it's just too much trouble to boot it everytime I want to play the demo :P

Yeah i used exactly the same codes, only thing different is the version of the X-ploder disc. My ps2 is riced (modded) so it can read any discs so that explains why the PAL version of x-ploder can read NTSC disc. As i said before, X-ploder V4 PAL doesnt work for me as it just freezes, but my other older version of x-ploder worked. I just checked the version on the disc, and it say version 1.0 (PAL) which probably means that its the first version of x-ploder that was ever sold. Dont think you'll be able to buy it now, its pretty old. I didnt buy, i got (permantly borrowed) it off a mate years ago. Maybe someone will convert it to Action replay and maybe you can try it with that i guess.
Its truly amazing now that you can drive a full lap of the ring. This demo is obviously much better than the bmw demo, in the sense that i can race on the ring and do free runs endlessly, and the physics and track designs (the ring) have been greatly improved IMO.

I've attached some photos (sorry about the quality coz' its from my phone camera). As you can see, the timer is still there but its been disabled and doesnt count down.

Dude.. you are SO losing that race....

:D

Hehe, yeah i know. I wasn't really racing anyways. :dopey: I was just trying to take good photos with my phone and taking the time to enjoy the scenery. I just love sound underneath your car now when you go over the pavement on the Karusell. And Damn that viper is fast around the ring. Even the other cars cant even catch it. :ouch:

Guys! I finally figured out how to hack the binaries using Hex editor! 👍
and it works!! Here is the method I used ... and I tested with HD Loader

method:
1. use ISOBuster to extract all files from the iso (ho-gt4d.iso) or from burned DVDR
2. download AXE from here http://www.jbrowse.com/products/axe/download.shtml
3. install it and run it
4. open PCPX_966.49 file with AXE
5. look at offset column and scoll down to 001F0740
6. you will see that row like this FF FF 42 24 07 00 40 14 .... and you change the first 8 digits to FF 00 FF 00 .... then that line should be FF 00 FF 00 07 00 ...
7. Save and overwrite PCPX_966.49
8. repack all files and burn

to Repack (for swap magic user, picky ps2, and for those who don't how to make a proper iso)
I use Sony cd/dvd-rom generator (search yahoo with "$ony cd/dvd-rom generator")
New Project > DVD Master Disc
volume set to GRANTURISMO4, Disc Name PCPX - 96649, others blank
in Directory, drag files into the program in following order:
SYSTEM.CNF
PCPX_966.49
IOPRP300.IMG
IRX (folder)
EPSON (folder)
GT4.VOL

after you press "rec" button, it will pop up a box for export temporary iml file, use GT4DEMO or whatever (not important)
then it pop up 2 error box, first one is "recording unit is not connected", 2nd one is "initialization failed" ... ignore them
then you should see a program called "CD/DVD-ROM Recording unit controller v1.xx"
click file, export image, type GT4DEMO (LST file type)
after it finish the process, you should have GT4DEMO.000 GT4 DEMO.001
then use command prompt (Start menu > Run > type cmd) and go to the folder where GT4DEMO.000 located
type this: copy /b GT4DEMO.000 + GT4DEMO.001 GT4DEMO.iso
wait a while, you will obtain GT4DEMO.iso in the same folder
use Nero or DVD Decrypter to burn the iso image

then now ... you can enjoy Nurburgring without time limit ... YAY!
